Oishii BostonReviewTitleThis was my second time eating at Oishii. This time I went with a friend who I recommended it to and he loved it. Great place for a date or anniversary. Romantic setting, and well worth the money.5/11/2013 12:00:00 AMFanBloodyTasticThe chef's tasting menu (at $ 150) was no bargain, but worth every cent. Oishii was, in my humble opinion, much better than any Nobu anywhere.5/9/2013 12:00:00 AMFirst timeWe will be coming back to work our way through the rest of the menu and to have more if the white salmon with truffles.5/9/2013 12:00:00 AMFoodie-grade sushiIt's tremendous. The selection of fresh fish was incredible -- I never knew there were so many types of tuna. The prepared rolls were outstanding and in a different class from your every day spicy tuna roll. Ask for recommendations because the waitstaff know what they're doing. We didn't even look at the hot entrees, but we will have to explore that next time.5/2/2013 12:00:00 AMBest Sushi Lunch in town!Oishii is simply amazing. I've probably been here 40 times for lunch. $20 and $30 prix fixe sushi lunch that you will not believe. You'd pay triple this price for the same food here in the evening. It's the perfect place for a business lunch. Super quiet and practically empty at lunchtime. Highly recommended, but hope not too many people go as I still want it to be my secret!4/30/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat place to have a dinner!Great place to have a dinner! High-level service, delicious food!!!4/27/2013 12:00:00 AMI would actually say the MakiI would actually say the Maki is not the star of the show here - go with a generous selection of apps and entrees. Sushi is okay, but their presentation is the winner (taste is a close second). Wife and I were constantly checking out plates on fire, smoking apps, etc. Our sushi selection was good, but not great. Very attentive staff made dining pleasant.4/27/2013 12:00:00 AMI have always wanted to comeI have always wanted to come here because I hear great things about the food. I am a sushi lover and when Bloomspot offered the discount I immediately took it. It is expensive but seriously worth it. Each maki roll we order was different, delicious, and a taste bud exciter. We loved the tuna rolled in toro roll and the one that had daikon radish on the outside. We also saw other tables order very cool appetizers and were delighted by the show. the service is impeccable! i liked the green tea tiramisu but i have had better. presentation was everything4/24/2013 12:00:00 AMExcellent all around! One does wish they had more variety of rolls, but I understand that they would prefer people focus on the other types of cuisine. However - excellent quality in everything they do, excellent taste, and one of those places that is simply put, worth the cost!4/23/2013 12:00:00 AMThis continues to be one ofThis continues to be one of my favorite spots in Boston. The menu is unique and different, the food is outstanding, the presentation is unlike anything I've seen before (must get the Salmon on Fire), and the service and ambiance is just right! It can get pricey quickly, but worth it!4/23/2013 12:00:00 AMOishii has fantastic sushiOishii has fantastic sushi - creative, exciting, and delicious!4/21/2013 12:00:00 AMMost of the sushi was notMost of the sushi was not exceptional, nor different than an average sushi restaurant. One dish stood out, however, heads and shoulders above other sushis - White Tiger. Service was excellent with one exception - the waitstaff forgot to bring one of the sushis we had ordered. The ambiance is what makes this restaurant and probably what allows it to charge so much for its food.4/21/2013 12:00:00 AMI wish I could come to OishiiI wish I could come to Oishii for dinner once a week. The sushi is just so fresh here and doesn't compare to anywhere else.4/21/2013 12:00:00 AMOverall, this place is interestingOverall, this place is interesting and worth experiencing.
The food, variaty and its presentation, and interio decoration is unique and worth complementing, but the prices are way too high for this experience. THis sushi restaurant is VERY pricy.
The significant negative is that they have way too many serving personel, who come "checking on you" every few minutes, which is VERY annouing, and distractive - they literally do not leave you alone for more than 3 minutes.4/18/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat food and serviceI always love the food and service here. Great bar menu, and I just love the chocolate souffle!4/17/2013 12:00:00 AMEvery time we go to OishiiEvery time we go to Oishii we enjoy everything, the entire experience is always wonderful. The food is the best around. Chef Ting comes over to ask how we liked the food and the answer is always .... the food is excellent! We have never ordered anything that wasn't excellent.4/16/2013 12:00:00 AMAmazing. Expensive, but theAmazing. Expensive, but the edamame mousse, sakura smoked hamachi, sudachi and seared hamachi maki, toro truffle maki, THE maki, and coconut sphere were all out of this world, as was Kaitlin, who knew the menu very well. Thanks for a great time.4/14/2013 12:00:00 AMExcellent sushi. Will definitelyExcellent sushi. Will definitely return on my next trip to Boston.4/14/2013 12:00:00 AMwe went a few days beforewe went a few days before our boston marathon run. the food was delicious. we had everything from sushi (sashimi) to steak... noodles, salmon and more sushi. the service was friendly but not over the top. the food was awesome (a little pricey) but the overall experience was WELL WORTH IT. we would have gone back if we were in Boston longer. next time for sure.4/13/2013 12:00:00 AMDelectable MealI chose to do the tasting menu and also did a Sake tasting as well. The food was absolutely fantastic, creative and delicious, it was a 9 course tasting menu and each course was done to the level of perfection. The pairings were fantastic, the waiter I had was very knowledgeable not only with the food but also with the Sake and his suggestions were perfect.
I don't get to Boston often but I would go back every time I visit.4/11/2013 12:00:00 AMOutstanding food and was veryOutstanding food and was very happy with ambiance and food presentation.4/7/2013 12:00:00 AMFirst time dining at OishiiFirst time dining at Oishii and I was simply amazed with how good the sushi was. Definitely the best sushi I have had in Boston. Our server was very friendly and helpful with suggestions and made our dining experience superb! If you are a sushi lover this is a MUST TRY restaurant.4/7/2013 12:00:00 AMAlways excellent. Every timeAlways excellent. Every time we are there the chef comes by every table to say hello. Very nice touch3/30/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat fusion cuisine! NotGreat fusion cuisine! Not your regular Japanese restaurant!3/28/2013 12:00:00 AMI called the restaurant onI called the restaurant on Wednesday in hopes to make a reservation for the following day, Thursday, for my best friend's birthday. The person I spoke to (kathy? katherine?) stated that she didn't have any tables available for us and quickly hung up. Rude much? Later I checked open table and found a table available at 7:30! Other than that, I was extremely satisfied with my dinner at Oishii. Our server was very attentive and gave great suggestions (and cute too!) The escargot tempura and smoked hamachi and kobe beef with red wine pear are must-trys! I also had the best lychee martini in my life. My best friend ordered the coconut sphere for her birthday dessert and it looked amazing!! Will definitely come back to try more items.3/28/2013 12:00:00 AMWe wnt for lunch and the comboWe wnt for lunch and the combo meal was fantastic and just a perfect mix of all I liked.3/27/2013 12:00:00 AMFirst-timerVery fresh assortment of fish at a reasonable price. The staff was helpful and readily available. The only reason why I gave 4 stars was because of the presentation of the food. It was not sloppy, but it wasn't thoughtful either. For $30/ maki roll, I would have liked it to have been more visual. Overall, good experience! Would dine here again. And FYI I did not order from the RW menu.3/24/2013 12:00:00 AMThe best sushi I've had--ever.The best sushi I've had--ever. The service was impeccable, presentation was extraordinary, the food was world class.3/24/2013 12:00:00 AMWe had a great celebrationWe had a great celebration of our anniversary and enjoyed this sushi (both food and service) much more than we did last year's when we went out in NYC.3/23/2013 12:00:00 AMIts Restaurant Week, so neverIts Restaurant Week, so never a good time to judge a new place, but unlike many Restaurant Week experiences, the food was innovative and delicious, the staff attentive, and the experience lovely. I had only been to the Chestnut Hill location, and this is a major improvement. Quiet ( at least during lunch) understated elegance, sultry and intimate bar, overall great experience.3/22/2013 12:00:00 AMStill my favorite sushi placeStill my favorite sushi place around by far. Can be pricey but the quality and selection of fish out weighs that for a special night out!3/22/2013 12:00:00 AMHad a wonderful dinner atHad a wonderful dinner at Oishii. My boyfriend and I sat in the lounge, and Alan, the bartender, was our server. He is awesome. He recommended the salmon on fire and we loved it so much we ordered another one. Great food, great drinks, great service, great ambiance. Will sure come again!3/20/2013 12:00:00 AMHad lunch during RestaurantHad lunch during Restaurant Week. Several choices. Most available during rest of year.3/19/2013 12:00:00 AMExcellent sushi experienceAlthough my expectations were somewhat tempered by a few negative comments, I would say that Oishii exceeded those expectations by a long shot. Nice setting, excellent service, and amazing food, most with memorable and unique presentations. We sampled 22 different dishes, including some delicious and beautiful desserts. The sake sampler was fun. Our server was very helpful, especially since I am a newly-converted (as a result of this experience) sushi neophyte. Hard to choose any favorite dish. All were wonderful. We will definitely go back.1/16/2013 12:00:00 AM
