A word from Ofrenda
An Ofrenda, in Spanish, is an offering, a gift. At their cozy West Village space, owner Jorge Guzman and Chef Mario Hernandez offer their unique interpretation of classic Mexican cuisine with an innovative cocktail menu of tequila-based drinks.
Named by NYLuxury as “one of the top ten restaurants in New York serving Latin food” and as “Top Tequila Bar in the US” by the editors of USA Today, this intimate and stylish cocina offers its guests a blend of passions. Jorge’s desire is to create a sexy and fun space to enjoy creative cocktails with the best of Latin cuisine. While Chef Mario’s dream is to craft dishes to showcase the indigenous ingredients of Mexico, the foods his ancestors enjoyed, and bring those flavors to a new generation.
This team has joined forces to offer guests a unique dining experience. We look forward to having you.

  • "Drove past this place many times without giving it a second thought. First Saturday with great weather, my girlfriends and I were looking for an outdoor brunch spot with a Mexican flare. This place popped up on opentable so we gave it a shot. WOW!!!!! Every dish was amazing! Authentic Mexican food with extraordinary service. I recommend the Gorditas and the guacamole the most. Huevos pochados and huevos rancheros were also very good. Will be stopping by what we always called that "random place with the black awning on 7th" and now call "our favorite new brunch spot" many times!"

  • "Just a great restaurant....original spins on classics like guacamole and fish tacos...the drinks are awesome and the service is fantastic. We live in the neighborhood and Ofrenda is our go to place if we want a guaranteed excellent meal and experience"

  • "Living in New York, I find it unjustifiable to go to the same place twice. However, I've been to Ofrenda over and over again, it's a place I take out of town guests, drop by when I'm in the neighborhood, or just have casual drinks and appetizers with friends. The menu changes seasonally and with each evolution I find a new favorite dish. The service is always homey and welcoming. This time I tried their new taco menu, I'm still tasting the pork belly tacos, I'm craving the sauce as we speak. The fish tacos were also delicious. This place never disappoints."

  • "I had come to Offrenda with my son after being told at a trendy Mexican restaurant there would be a 2 hour wait. We were so glad we couldn't get into the other restaurant. We waited a long time at the bar for our table so the hostess gave us our margaritas for free and then we had delicous food. We went back with a group of 7 Sunday night. It was happy hour and the prices were very reasonable and the food was just as good. The chile releno and fish tacos are delicious!"

  • "Very strong cocktails and good food in a great part of manhattan!"

  • "Food and drinks were great. Have been coming to this spot for a while and will continue to do so. One item however, it was exceptionally loud. Granted I was there on a Friday night but there was one point where the conversations reached a particularly high volume and the music was actually turned up over those conversations. If the music was a bit lower it is possible the conversations would be too."

  • "Visited this spot on Saturday night and my group (4 of us) were tremendously pleased with the food, the drinks and the atmosphere. The manager was particularly nice, even though the other two people were an hour late. Overall, highly recommended for a night out with friends - a small group, intimate setting, great atmosphere and fantastic food."

  • "Delicious margaritas, and wonderful service. They made my friends birthday really special. The food was delicious and the atmosphere/decor was really warm and homey. Definitely recommend!"

  • "From the moment we walked in, everyone was very attentive. We had a delicious meal. We had 2 appetizers. The fish tacos were amazing. The guacamole was perfect with just a hint of heat. I had the pork carnitas and didn't realize that there would be 3 to a plate. I had to take the other 2 home, but delicious. It was very reasonable, too. My husband had the mushroom special and also all very good. As we left, the waiter shook my husband's hand and the owner helped me put on my coat. They were the nicest people. I would definitely go back."

  • "Loved it. Go during happy hour (5-7) and feast on a variety of relatively cheap, very tasty small-ish dishes. The waiters were incredibly busy (the place was packed), but attentive enough to notice when another customer knocked my partner's water glass over. We had already paid and were about to be on our way out, but they told us to sit down and served us some incredibly tasty specialty drinks as recompense. All in all - great food, great attitude, and not terribly expensive insofar as NYC goes. Just make sure you book a reservation - I have never seen them with anything resembling an abundance of free tables."

  • "i made a reservation for monday 2/3/14 at 6:30 pm, and when i showed up the place was closed. i don't care that the weather was bad... they should have figured out a way to not take reservations for that day if they would not be open. even called them earlier in the day and left a voicemail.. they should have let people know, either on their website or on their phone message, that they would not be open."

  • "I'm at Ofrenda at least once every two weeks with friends or clients and it's always fantastic. Great food, margs and service. Already looking forward to going back!"

  • "The food was really tasty but the portions were quite small. The tacos are not enough to fill up your average adult as only 2 were included. We had the guacamole appetizer as well and we still left hungry. I wish they had included 3 tacos and charged a bit more."

  • "Went here with girlfriends this weekend after a relaxing day at an uptown spa. We were looking for a Mexican restaurant with a lively atmosphere and delicious sangria. We were not disappointed! Ordered two pitchers of fruity red sangria and the four of us enjoyed authentic Mexican cuisine with a stylish presentation. My friend has a tree nut allergy and the kitchen even made a custom entree to fit her needs. We had a fantastic time and will return!"

  • "We chose it because of its proximity to Skirball at NYU, with hopes that it would be at least good. Three adults, three kids. It was early and practically empty. First, the margaritas were great! And actually had noticeable tequilla in them. The quacamole and chips were both steps above the usual. My chicken mole was delicious. One child order fish tacos, wolfed them down, and ordered a second serving; they were that good. In fact, everyone's dishes were much, much better than we expected and than most Mexican restaurants in NY. Atmosphere is nothing to brag about, but certainly acceptable."

  • "Went for brunch on New Year's Day. The fish tacos were absolutely delicious! Everyone commented that they wished the portions were larger; you may leave hungry if just ordering an entree. Next time, I would order some chips and guacamole to start. The service was great and attentive, though it wasn't very busy."

  • "lucky enough to randomly find this place during happy hour. They had a great happy hour menu and the dishes were 7$. some of the best fish tacos ive ever had. 6$ margaritas that were also great."

  • "Ever since we found this place a couple years ago, we come here everytime we are in the city. A smallish, compact restaurant that has delicious food and drinks, they are never disappointing. We will continue our patronage here!! Make sure to make a rez!!"

  • "While the food was delicious, the service was beyond mediocre. We booked our reservation through OpenTable. When we arrived, we had to wait for 20 minutes for our table to be ready. Then, we were told that we'd have only 45 minutes before they needed our table for "a larger group." Lo and behold, after 45 minutes, someone was coming by our table every 2-3 minutes to speed us along. A very unpleasant experience. I'll never go back."

  • "Having lived in Mexico it is hard to pay $10+ for guacamole and tiny tacos, but being that as it may, when I want some creative upscale Mexican cuisine I find myself coming back to Ofrenda because it is good...plain and simple. The menu is narrow but the dishes are prepared and presented well. Cocktails are my favorite part of the Ofrenda experience. (No longer do I feel bad licking the sugar/spice rim from my glass) The space is small but rustic and cozy. Service is solid with a mishap happening only once with my friend but it resolved itself. Their menu changes but this time I had the smokey margarita and duck confit enchiladas. My only complaints are it is quite loud and food I feel is a bit much for some items but it is NYC."

  • "The food was very good. The prices a bit high, but reasonable. However the service was slow, and they had to re-take or re-ask our order. Yet, what really dinged the experience was that they ran our credit cards twice. Now we have to dispute duplicate charges with the credit card company. The food was not worth the hassle."

  • "I've been to Ofrenda for both happy hour and dinner on several occasions, and the margaritas are always excellent. The food is good as well. Because the space is small, it can get crowded and loud, but it's worth it!"
