A word from Oficina Latina
Are you in the mood for Mexican food tonight? How about some Argentinean too? And maybe a little Chilean while we’re at it? Well, now you can get it all at one restaurant – Oficina Latina, a popular Latin American restaurant in New York City's Nolita.

Oficina Latina calls itself a pan-American bistro, and features cuisines from a number of South and Central American countries, including Mexico, Argentina, Ecuador, Chile, Costa Rica and Panama. Best of all, the restaurant organizes its menu by country, so you can pick your dish by destination.

Want a taste of Peru? Try the Ceviche de Calamari y Vieras. Craving Venezuelan? Order the Arepas Mixtas. Cuban food on the brain? Get the Cubano, of course! Oficina Latina has all of these cuisines – and more – and prepares them all well.

The restaurant offers a daily fresh cocktail selection as well, featuring an interesting wine list from the major Latin American regions, and a few beers from Central and South America.

  • "The bar, The vibe, The music and The Setting gives you an awesome feeling. Unfortunately the waitors don't. They missed one of our entries, their really stressed and you seem to have to grab hold of them if you want to order or get their attention. "

  • "I selected this location for a dinner to entertain clients and was quite concerning upon walking in. My clients are not drinkers and the only portion of the restaurant that was busy was the bar. What a pleasant surprise. The service was good, the food tasted great and presentation was very nice. Outside of the waitstaff shirts being in bad taste and somewhat offensive, everything else was a nice experience."

  • "Great atmosphere. We got there early to take advantage of Happy Hour but ended up staying much longer than expected and ordered dinner. Food was good (little tapas to share) and service was great. By the time we left the place was filling up!"

  • "The dining space is very tight. Althought the food was amazing and the service was great would have wished to have a little more breathing room."

  • "The food options were plentiful, really great drinks, can't wait to dine again when it's warmer so we can eat outside in the back."

  • "Read previous reviews on Yelp and I was a little cautious but they were totally wrong. I arrived 30 mins late for my reservation but was seated right away. Only issue was our server took a while to attend to us initially but then it went smoothly after that. The chicken was amazing!! Perfectly cooked. Will def return to try the extensive drinks menu."

  • "The food was less than average. I had the steak which was hard and chewy, as for flavor none really to speak of. Most of the staff with exception of the host was rude. One waiter curtly asked me to move my chair in, not realizing I was already pressed up against the table. And another server complained about people not leaving tips and then told us how the table across the way had already spent over $700; I'm not sure why he thought that was appropriate to discuss. Also, there were several customer blow ups while we there, which I later came to understand."

  • "I enjoyed the spicy blackberry margarita very much. Many restaurants advertise food or drinks as "spicy" but they never live up to the expectation. When I order something spicy, I want it to leave heat in my mouth. The drink did just that."

  • "One of my favorites SOHO spots. Never disappoints!! Took a party of 9 there for husbands bday dinner. Fantastic food, drinks and service! We have been there a few times before just the 2 of us. Fun with a big group! Can't say enough!! Caprihina's are a must! There signature drink & the shots are amazing!!!"

  • "Went based on a discount from Gilt. Funky, friendly place, although not exactly sure of the resturant theme although there was a lot of motorcylce "stuff" all around. Service was wonderful and the food was good. Our favorite was the special shot they served. I think it was called love and romance. Try it with the rum!"

  • "Oficina Latina had changed their menu since I had last been there, but it was still delicious (and they still had the Argentinian steak). We were promptly seated even though we arrived early. Despite us having a Gilt offer, the staff was very friendly and did not treat us any differently than a regular diner (I've been here in the past without an offer). We ordered a bottle of Malbec, which was delicious and perfect for the food there. To start, we had the suckling pig tacos and baked scallops. Both were great, but the suckling pig tacos were amazing! For our main courses we had the Argentinian steak and the short ribs. There was so much food we ended up just splitting the steak, which was so juicy and SO yummy. I will return again!"

  • "Lively Happy Hour. Good tapas and helpful service. Favorite tapas were fish tacos and and crab tortillas are the best! Fish tapas seem to be better than others. Will go back but first try some other spots in Nolita."

  • "Limited menu from arepas to tacos, mildly spiced accompanying some very nice drinks like the ginger mojitos . Interior looks like it has all been salvaged from somewhere else but comfortable chairs back by the fireplace encourage staying"

  • "The food is GREAT... unbelievably so! The service, very friendly, but not BFF. Looking from outside, you will not expect Oficina Latina be your absolute Go-To place for forever more, from that first meal on... GREAT cocktails, nice wines, but OMG! the food! GO..."

  • "Fabulous tasty fresh delicious Hispanic cuisine, but like you've never tasted it! Great scene... super Cocktails. Go ASAP and bring friends - don't wait another day or NIGHT. You will be sorry you didn't know about it until now. Amazing 'find' !!"

  • "Always a great meal with yummy drinks. A caprihina is a must! Service is always exceptional! In the warm weather ask for table in the window.. Lots of people watching! The owner is always present walking around inconspicuous keeping an eye on things. A definate must in NY! Very low key, casual dress."

  • "The food was okay. The service horrible. Plates being cleared from underneath you when still eating from the plate. Plates taken away as food came out so nothing to eat on. Took plates from table next to us. Orders messed up. Left as soon as we could and had dessert and drinks elsewhere."

  • "Food was delicious - would definitely come back for more!! ,Portions are not huge for the price though. Only complaint is around the drinks - they are expensive and small (mini wine glasses and small drink glasses filled with ice)"

  • "My husband chose this place for his birthday. We had a nice dinner and our waitress kindly put candles I had brought in on the dessert he ordered. The bar seating, which we did not use, was fun with a fresh style. After dinner, friends began arriving for drinks. We did not have a reservation for the group and were just planning on standing by the bar, but were kindly seated at a table. The guacamole and chips are some of the best I have had. Service was good, personable, and professional. The downside: cocktails are fancy and certainly unique but overpriced and they can only open 4 tabs per table, which proved confusing and a bit messy in the end. Also, as a vegetarian, the entree selection is extremely limited."

  • "My fiance and I took her brother to Oficina Latina for his birthday dinner, we loved it! The drinks are great and there are few places where you can find single servings of Paella. We all loved the food and would definitely go back for dinner."

  • "There was a wide selection on the bar menu, very specialized and the two drinks we had were exceptionally tasty (on the spicier side). The guacamole was fresh and had the perfect balance of spice and creamy, texture. The flank steak and the scallops were phenomenal! The meat was cooked just right and served with very tasty chimichurri sauce. The scallops were served with a butter garlic broth, and cooked to perfection (not rubbery). Service was impeccable. We had a bright and comical waitress that was energetic and always available for questions. Overall was just a fun place to hang out in, great music and decor is fun and interesting to look at."

  • "I went on a Travelzoo voucher. The service staff were different levels of informed and professional - some where great, others not so. The ambiance was fun and energetic, and the clientele was generally attractive. The food was so-so."

  • "The food was good, the portions were very small. My husband left hungry. And the service was terrible, we got one wrong dinner, we ate it anyway because te service was so slow. A few people were complaining."

  • "We waited 45 min even with a reservation, the menu is not the same as before...the choice is very poor, no chips and oil as an appetizer like before. And they opened the front door and windows the entire evening, we were freezing, it was Friday and today I have a cold ! It was better before, too bad I really liked this place..."

  • "The food was too salty, the drinks were awesome, and the saving grace, too bad the other spots on the block looked a tad more interesting. I may return, who knows, summer is right around the corner. The place was small, and decorated with a funky vibe, service was fine, but the food wasn't the star of the show sadly."

  • "They used to have a great brunch menu but no more. Food was disappointing."
    Dined on 3/31/2013
  • "Food was good, but service was fair only because they were constantly trying to clear plates before we were finished with them. It felt like they were rushing to turn over the table even though it was late and there was no one waiting for one."

  • "Oficina Latina is a good pan-Latin eatery. It's not great. But it's not bad. The drinks, which are variations on the Latino trifecta (margarita, caipirinha, pina colada), were probably the best part of the meal. Made with fresh ingredients and garnished with real (edible) fruit and veggie pieces, the drinks were well made, creative, and tasty. The food was also good, although we only ordered off the tapas menu. Portions are small, but selections were tasty. The drinks are a little expensive at $13+ per, so try to drink them slowly. The ambiance is cool, and the lighting at the bar is great. Fun bartenders too. I would go back, but probably only if my regular haunts are booked."

  • "We had the Cuban sandwich and the Argentine steak. The sandwich was absolutely amazing, the steak was average (try something else). We will go back again and just do tapas because they have a wide variety of Latin American dishes that we'd like to try. Tables are a bit tight, but the restaurant has great energy and a cool vibe."

  • "First time here and no doubt going back sooner than later. For the small size of the place, they really pack in a ton of people. This leads to it being a tad noisy and cluttered (had to stand up a few times to let waiters/patrons through to their tables). At the same time, it really added to the whole experience...you're so close to other tables that you start to meet and chat with those dining around you. Also the waiter's get a little confused with so much hustle & bustle (more than once our drink orders were never placed.) That being said, it didn't take away from the experience. This place is awesome and you pretty much HAVE to get a drink with tequila in it (try the spicy margarita) and the tapas = insanely good (get the crab cakes!)"

  • "I've eaten here before and the last time was incredible. However, the second time dining here I wasn't as pleased. The steak was not as juicy as it was in the past and the service wasn't nearly as good. We had a Gilt coupon for drinks so I don't think the wait staff was as attentive because they assumed we just wouldn't order other things or tip, which we did. I was also with a group of young women, which also contributed to us not being treated as warmly as I had been when I was with my mother. Overall, I love this place but this one particular experience wasn't as pleasant."

  • "The food is excellent. I recommend the ceviche and mussels. Order he avocado habanero margarita. It's their specialty and goes with everything on their menu. The restaurant is small so you might be seated in a tiny table next to the wall and then service has to reach over other people to serve you. This is the one negative. But the place is busy and vibrant. Been there several times and never had a bad experience."

  • "This was my second time to Oficina Latina, and I enjoyed it more than I did the first time. My husband and I ordered a bunch of different Tapa's from the menu, and everything was great! We were concerned that it may not be enough food for us, but we did not leave hungry! The service (by everyone!) was great...and our server even brought over complimentary Blackberry Caipirina's for us to try! They were great! All the cocktails at Oficina Latina were delicious!"
