A word from Off Vine
It was in May of 1989 that we at Off Vine Restaurant first opened our broad oak door to the guests we have come to welcome as friends and family from around Hollywood and around the world. Our home was built in 1908 in the arts & crafts style, the hallmark of comfort and fine handicraft on a very human scale. We have taken the Arts & Crafts sensibility as our own. We serve California American cuisine with an homage to the comfort foods, unstinting portions and simple elegance of the finest home kitchens across the country. And we serve it for lunch, dinner and weekend brunch. Come enjoy us whatever mood you"re in: a cozy rendezvous by the fireplace, a friendly meal in our vine-wrapped outdoor garden or a celebration with all your friends and family in our private room upstairs with views of the Hollywood Hills and Griffith Park Observatory. Walking distance from the Pantages Theatre, the Arc-Light Theatres, and Palladium we are proud to be in the heart of HollywoodContinued

Diner Reviews
  • "Easter Sunday Brunch was even better this year than last (and yes, we have dined there between those occasions). In spite of an enormous crowd, the Maitre D' managed to find us a table at the appointed time and our server performed miracles in delivering the Lobster Pot Pie and Turkey Hash. Chocolate souffle polished off a memorable afternoon. Same time next year! Thanks, Off-Vine!"

  • "Had a terrific meal here. All 4 of us agreed and the chocolate souffle is not to be missed! We weren't sure what to expect and the food was great. The special of the night, steak with mushrooms, the pork chop, the sliced steak... all delicious."

  • "Perfect place to dine before going to a show at the Pantages. They offer parking for $10so you can walk to and from the show without dealing with a mob scene. Very cute old home turned into a restaurant. You can sit inside, on the porch or in the front garden. Service and food are great. If you want to bring a special bottle of wine, the corkage is $20. "

  • "I was told to take my Mom and brother, who were visiting from Maryland, to this place for brunch. They loved it. The eggs benedicts are the best EVER! The bottomless mimosas keep comin'. The male servers are hot and friendly. The ambiance is so secret LA. I'm definitely going back...soon."

  • "Charming bungalow in the center of Hollywood. Very close to Pantages theatre. Food was good though not gormet. Service wonderful! we would return!"

  • "First time to LA and I needed to find a place in the area for brunch. The pics on OpenTable sold me. Off Vine is as cute as a button. It is a hidden gem right off the beaten path. The garden decor reminded me of Key West, Charleston or Savannah. (Very good thing!) And, the service - from one of the owners greeting us to the waiter to the rest of the staff - was friendly, welcoming and charming. We had the cinnamon rolls, bacon cheeseburger special, bottomless mimosas and chocolate soufflé. It was all very good - but it was the ambience that stole the show for me. Would highly recommend."

  • "Had a wonderful experience at Off Vine before heading to the Pantages. It's less than a half mile to the theater and an easy walk. The food was great and the staff very accommodating. (We were a little late for our reservation, but were treated as favorite guests nonetheless.)"

  • "Best place to eat in the Hollywood area. It's close to the Pantages Theatre, located in a charming old house, with wonderful food and service. I've never had anything but a wonderful meal here."

  • "We went to Off Vine before a show at the theater. It was very good, lovely ambiance. My husband had the gnocchi, which was creamy and done right. I had the steak with peppercorn sauce. We didn't take the recommendation the server gave us for the dessert, and we should have. It was mediocre compared to the rest of the meal. So I recommend listening to the server...We had a lovely time and we will return there for another date night."

  • "A local favorite! Great food! Patio was nice & romantic. Kind of hidden from the street, by the greenery, so doesn't bring in a lot of tourists, which is a good thing! ;-)"

  • "This bungalow-turned-into-dining spot was a pleasant surprise. We all enjoyed the dinner and service was great. We left our car there to be picked up after the performance. That aspect was a bit confusing and the directions for where to come for our car was incomplete. Fortunately we had the phone # so we called and eventually got to the right place."

  • "We were looking for a pasta place before a 1/2 marathon and this really fit It was clasy but casual. We were comfortable in jeans and dressy. The staff made us feel right at home. Our waitress was very attentive and ever present. The food was good but the soufflé was awesome. I would go back for the soufflé in an instant. Great job."

  • "Great shrimp cocktail, short ribs and banana cream pie. Specialty shrimp pasta was just okay. Disappointed that they didn't have a full bar, but enjoyed the rice vodka pomegranite martini. Great location for the theater crowd. Would for sure come back"

  • "We have not been to Off Vine for awhile- and after this visit we will return more often! We were happily surprised at the extremely economical prices on their menu! The food was fresh and delicious! Service was friendly and engaging! Great for a date night!"

  • "Tucked away amongst highrises, movie theaters, restaurant chains and the ever chaotic Sunset Boulevard sits an unassuming residence that serves it's patrons delightful meals on a garden porch. This may sound like a fairytale, but it's actually a reality found at Off Vine. My girlfriend and I went for brunch this last Sunday. We held off on the carb counting and enjoyed a plate of mini cinnamon rolls to start, Eggs Benedict and a Breakfast Pasta (like I said, we went for it)! They also served up some incredible warm banana bread and and kept our dog's bowl filled with water -- yes, they allow pups on their lovely outdoor patio. We didn't take advantage this time, however if you're looking for bottomless bloodies or mimosas, they got you!"

  • "We stopped in for dinner after seeing a show at the Pantages. Seating was prompt. However the food was very disappointing. Meatloaf was very dry. The pasta special was just yucky. The two penne pasta orders were fine but that's tough to screw up. The four desserts were all bad. The chocolate mousse was grainy and stiff. The creame brulle was like soup and both the Apple tart and the berry pie were tasteless. The wine was good. We've been eating at Off Vine for years. The last two times were just very disappointing. Think we'll find a new place."

  • "Off Vine is a perfect place to celebrate our mother's 86th birthday. Food and service was excellent; good food choices and quiet enough that our mother could hear conversation and also participate in conversation."

  • "Great place to eat if you are going to Pantages! They inquire before hand so they know to make your meal timing perfect and you are not rushed to make it to the show! The food was wonderful, tastey, beautifully presented and priced right! Order the soufflé at the beginning of your meal for dessert, it takes that long to cook, served piping hot They do chocolate or rapeberry or ask them for a combo of both and xtra whipped cream!"

  • "We have been to Off Vine several times in the past. Hadn't been in years, so we gave it another spin. Still love the atmosphere - it's a converted house, which is fun. Food was good, not amazing. I had the blackened turkey breast, which tasted good but was a bit dry. Chocolate souffle for dessert was great, as usual. Was disappointed with the service. Not rude at all, just not that attentive. We said at the head of dinner that we had a show to catch (2 hours later), but felt no attention to that fact. Had to wave down the waiter for just about everything, and had to rush dessert (even though we ordered it with dinner). Off Vine is a sentimental favorite - have been going there since the late 90's - but I am rapidly losing interest."

  • "This place met all my expectation after hearing so much about it and reading about it online. Came here for dinner after an afternoon show at the Pantages. Was within walking distance. Service was great, everyone very friendly and attentive. Great place for an afternoon lunch w/ the girls. I'm sure I will be back next time in the area for a show or event."

  • "We usually have a very pleasant dining experience at Off Vine, but last Sunday brunch was not up to its usual standards. Very loud party next to us upstairs. The service was not as good as it usually is. Had to ask for coffee several times and the server was rather inattentive. We will go back, but hopefully Off Vine was just having an "off day""

  • "Had an early dinner after attending a play at the Pantages. About a 10 minute walk from the theater. Nice setting in an old house. The menu items sounded good but were nothing special. Pecan encrusted chicken didn't have much taste and was a bit dry. Stuffed pork chop was not tough, but not tender either. Stuffing consisted of a small very amount of brie. Nicely seasoned, but on the dry side. Both entrees came with green beans (plain) and mashed potatoes (at least they were made from scratch). Frankly I can do a much better job myself at home."

  • "Off Vine, is a lovely secret garden, in the midst of the grind of Hollywood. It's extremely well run, with a terrific wait staff, offering fine service. I had a cup of excellent, broth-based potatoe soup, and a yummy grilled prawn salad. Not a full bar, very nice wine list though. Valet park makes this pleasant experience complete."

  • "A perfect place to celebrate a birthday. We had lunch on the patio and felt as though we were far, far away from busy, hectic Los Angeles. Service was attentive, but not overbearing, the salads were very good and very ample. We left satisfied and relaxed."

  • "Great eatery in home setting in middle of Hollywood. Who knew??? Food was wonderful, but the souffle (1/2 chocolate 1/2 grand Marneir) was outstanding. That alone is enough for me to make a trip back."

  • "My wife and I had brunch March 15th. I had the pecan encrusted chicken salad. The salad was ok. Not as much dressing as I prefer. My wife had the blue berry pancakes. I tried them and they were delicious. The best I've ever had. The service and staff were excellent. The price was below what I had expected. I definitely recommend."

  • "Very nice place for dinner before going to the Pantages. We sat outside and the ambience was excellent! We had the vegetable lasagna with a Caesar salad. My girlfriend and I shared and the portions were perfect. The wine was tasty and the service was very pleasant. The theater is about three long blocks away. The restaurant has on-site parking for dinner and the theater for $10.00."
