A word from Off Vine
It was in May of 1989 that we at Off Vine Restaurant first opened our broad oak door to the guests we have come to welcome as friends and family from around Hollywood and around the world. Our home was built in 1908 in the arts & crafts style, the hallmark of comfort and fine handicraft on a very human scale. We have taken the Arts & Crafts sensibility as our own. We serve California American cuisine with an homage to the comfort foods, unstinting portions and simple elegance of the finest home kitchens across the country. And we serve it for lunch, dinner and weekend brunch. Come enjoy us whatever mood you"re in: a cozy rendezvous by the fireplace, a friendly meal in our vine-wrapped outdoor garden or a celebration with all your friends and family in our private room upstairs with views of the Hollywood Hills and Griffith Park Observatory. Walking distance from the Pantages Theatre, the Arc-Light Theatres, and Palladium we are proud to be in the heart of HollywoodContinued

  • "very convenient walk to the Pantages Theatre. The restaurant is quaint, but could use a bit of modern upgrades."

  • "We enjoyed a fabulous brunch with friends in the cute outdoor setting at this old house in Hollywood. A great escape from the Hollywood hustle and bustle."

  • "We went to Brunch prior to seeing GHOST at The Pantages. We were seated immediately. Suggest you sit outdoors. Jesse was our server and was terrific. The food was spot on incredible. Great Omelettes. They had the best Chocolate Mousse I have ever had!!!Off Vine was so comfortable, casual and quiet. We left the car with the Valet and walked up, so convenient. I would absolutely rate the food and service FIVE stars."

  • "We used to come here often but seem to recall some disaster like a fire having destroyed it. Whatever happened or didn't, Off Vine is still like a fast vacation. Great brunch foods, fast service and divine outdoor seating. Thumbs way up!"

  • "Charming but pretty dead for a Saturday night... Maybe because it was a holiday weekend. But it was a great night to sit outdoors. Appetizers were REALLY good but my pasta and my husband's fish (the evening's special) were both very bland and we had to add salt and pepper for them to have any taste at all. A disappointment after the tasty appetizers. We split a dessert (Chocolate pecan pie) and it was incredible! Our first waiter was very good and extremely personable but then he was sent home halfway through our dinner because there was no crowd. His replacement was very aloof and made it seem as if he were the one who wished he had been sent home. We wish we could have tipped the other guy before he left..."

  • "The food was excellent (especially the breakfast pasta and the raspberry soufflé) and the outdoor seating is cute and comfortable. Would definitely go back The only thing I didn't like about eating here was all the bees and wasps swarming around our table. It wasn't a ton, but I'm allergic, so it definitely interfered with the meal."

  • "Off Vine remains a pleasant, reliable spot for brunch or dinner, hidden away from the Hollywood hubbub in a little house. Great location if you're going to a show at the Arclight or the Pantages. ...The dessert soufflés are worth the price of admission."

  • "Enjoyed the menu, atmosphere (indoor or outdoor dining), drinks (great Bloody Mary's and good wine), food (excellent choices covering all the different categories )and service Very attentive to our needs) A place we shall return!"

  • "I had come for a brunch date. We arrived 5mins. b4 our reservation @1pm and was asked by the manager if we wanted to sit outside so we did (nice day out). Once seated, our servers assistant brought out some delicious bread. Our server happened to stop by and to take our drink order, he kind of looked stunned when I asked for just water. Upon returning he asked if we needed more time? We decided we were ready, the brunch menu was a bit small and the steak n egg benni sounded best so we both ordered that. About 10mins. in, the server behind our table mentions the specials of the day and asked if they wanted to order a souffle. We were stunned as our server never mentioned any of this, my gf would have rather ordered one of the specials."

  • "The food remains both varied and very good, though the chef won't win any accolades for "plating" or doing anything special with the sides that come with the entree. Yet, the portions were ample, everyone at the table was pleased with the preparation and the taste (we all sampled everything that was served), and the service was attentive without being a hovering presence."

  • "We were running late because of Friday night LA traffic, and we had tickets to Pantages. When I called in to let them know, the first question they asked was about Pantages. Not only did they hold our reservation for us, when we got there, everyone at the restaurant made sure we were taken care of and able to make it to our show without feeling rushed. Staff was easygoing, friendly, and attentive. Food was delicious. And it's just the cutest place!"

  • "Made plans to propose to my girlfriend over dinner and it couldn't have worked out any better. The staff was amazing and helped make our day even more special. The food was also excellent. This is a quaint romantic paradise in the middle of a concrete jungle. A true find, we will definitely be back!"

  • "We were looking for a restaurant to go to before seeing Joseph at Pantages. It was great. It reminded me of several Napa restaurants. Great food and great character!"

  • "We have been there a couple of times. Great for pre-theater or anytime. Friendly hip staff and wonderful food in a comfortable intimate setting in the middle of Hollywood. You would never know that the bustling tourist attraction is just steps away as you enjoy a relaxing meal. The food is excellent, not overpriced and the portions are plenty. Whether local or visiting, make sure to try Off Vine!"

  • "We can always depend on Off Vine for tasty food and excellent service. It can be a bit noisy when the theatre crowd it there, but after 7:30 it's easy to have good conversation. We have been there many times and always have a great time. Our friends do too."

  • "Great selection of unusual fishes, without being off the wall or off the mark. The patio area is special in and of itself. Steps away from the zoo of Hollywood Blvd, Off Vine is an epicurean oasis. "

  • "I started going to Off Vine a couple of years ago and loved going there often. Recently I moved to another area so I hadn't been back in 6 months until last night. My wife and I had guests from out of the country and they asked where would we want to go that was quiet and had great food. I'm not sure if new ownership took over or if there was a new chef but every dish and appetizer was absolutely disgusting. Chicken was overcooked, tortilla soup was like tomato puree with NO flavor, the sauce on the Tilapia was something I would find in the aisle at the grocery store and the calamari was something you would get at a sports bar. The service and ambiance were amazing but we were very embarrassed and extremely disappointed. "

  • "We save Off Vine for office parties and holiday meals and it is always good. They are the most reasonably priced restaurant in LA for the quality and quantity of food they serve and are getting better!"

  • "I've been coming here for years. This is a little house turned into a charming 2 story restaurant with out door patio area. The menu has a great selection and the desserts are the best. It has a great wait staff and the owners are very accommodating and polite. My only complaint is that they do not serve alcohol. That's an issue in a city that thrives on their cocktails!"

  • "Great for pre-theatre dinner..cute house in the Hollywood neighborhood.. very chichi"

  • "The Food was very good, as good I remember it always was when i used to frequent the establishment. One note was the plating was the same for all four plates and we we all had different menu items. I don't usually notice such a thing, but it stood out during this visit. I especially liked that the kitchen could accommodate a food allergy. The Server needs more seasoning and experience. He didn't listen very well ,and was intrusive at times."

  • "We were out of towners that found this place and highly recommend it to others. If going at 8pm show a 5:30 dinner will work out great."

  • "The restaurant is in a charming craftsman house which led me to expect great things. The Seafood Risotto was awful to look at - a soupy tomato sauce mess and the seafood linguini dish made for a better presentation, but was terribly bland and disappointing. "

  • "Had a great dinner with wonderful service and reasonable prices. We parked at the Pantages and walked the 3 blocks to the restaurant for dinner. Had a great meal and then back to the Pantages. Wine list is somewhat limited, although they did have some nice wines that were a bit pricey. They did offer a corkage fee of $20 if you bring your own wine (2 bottle limit). Might be a good option if you have a preference in wine. Overall, it was a very relaxing and enjoyable evening."

  • "We hadn't been to this restaurant for quite a while...and I was so happy to find out they were still there. It was wonderful and the big surprise is that on Mon. nights, they have a special half price menu. It's a great place to go before theatre also."
