Off VineNice place for a romantic evening! We, my date and I, loved OFF Vine. The food was very good and the service and ambiance were outstanding. It is a lovely setting, unlike any other in the area. Try the chocolate souffle for desert!5/18/2013 12:00:00 AMExcellent food in a nice settingHad the chicken ravioli for lunch and dined in the outdoor patio. The food was excellent. Bread could have been a bit fresher, but overall not bad. My guest had the salmon and it (looked, anyway) like a great dish. This is a very quaint restaurant with excellent food hidden just a stone's throw from The Arclight, Amoeba Records, and other attractions. Definitely not cheap, but a very nice choice for a business meeting with a small group or a dinner date.5/17/2013 12:00:00 AMhidden gemI love this restaurant. The food is wonderful, the service great. The servers really know the menu and the specials and are very helpful.5/17/2013 12:00:00 AMThe room is great, great ambiance. The room is great, great ambiance. The service was very good. The food needs work. Heavy handed on the salt - on everything we ordered.5/16/2013 12:00:00 AMI was shocked that I haveI was shocked that I have lived in Los Angeles for over 50 years and have not heard of this great Hollywood gem. I will certainly go back. Service was great, ambience unique, and food excellent. Probably the best duck I have tasted in a long time.5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMGenuine Charm ...We were warmly received by the staff at Off Vine the minute we walked up the steps of this charming little place. Off Vine felt like a home away from home, a stark contrast to the over produced ambience a typically associated with Hollywood restaurants. The food was layered and complex, light and subtle, all of our dishes felt as AF the ingredients came from a secret farm behind the building. While we had wished for a more dry and acidic, crispy white wine given the open air seating, we were perfectly happy with the Prosecco and Zinfandels offered. My wife, who's not a vegan, had the vegan chicken and it was fantastic. Order a desert soufflé at the time of your entree order. A highlight desert to end a delightfully breezy evening.5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMUnique gemWe called when we knew that we were going to be late, and they were very nice and said that they would hold our reservation. The food was yummy, and the service was fast and friendly. We used the valet parking next door and walked the 2 blocks to the Pantages for a matinee show, which made things super convenient.5/11/2013 12:00:00 AMIt's goodThis is a charming old hollywood house converted to a warm and friendly restaurant with good food and a friendly staff. We keep coming back.5/9/2013 12:00:00 AMYumWe went there before going to see a play at the pantages. I made the reservation on open table and they called to confirm the day of. We had a group of 6 and our server was very attentive and very knowledgable on the wine list. Everyone really enjoyed their food. The only thing I would suggest is making sure you save plenty of time for dinner. Our food took quite a while. But everything else was perfect!5/8/2013 12:00:00 AMPer-theater diningGood spot for per-theater dining for Pantages, Arclight or Dolby. Nice patio for good weather days. Food is very good and service is attentive. If you are a soufflé fan definitely try the grand marniere; chocolate not quite as good.5/4/2013 12:00:00 AMJust had the most lovely lunchJust had the most lovely lunch there. I had a great salmon salad, really far too big, but as I recall I ate most of it!
The patio is comfortable and pleasant and a treat in the middle of Hollywood. The waitstaff were attentive without hovering-perfect.
I had been there previously for dinner and chose to go back for lunch and was happy to repeat my great experience!5/3/2013 12:00:00 AMPerfect birthdayThis is my wife's favorite restaurant, so we celebrated her birthday there. The food and service were impeccable, and the chocolate souffle is heavenly.5/1/2013 12:00:00 AMQuiet in the Heart of Hollywood! What a pleasure to sit outside on a lovely patio, eating excellent food at surprisingly reasonable prices and have a peaceful heart to heart conversation with a companion. No shouting over the "vibe," no waving down waiters, no overly designed dishes. Just simple, excellent service and food in a lovely, quiet setting.4/29/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat dining experienceOff Vine has been one of our favorite restaurants for many years. We've even had a number of private events, and one New Years Eve dinner there. In EVERY case, it borders on perfect. The service is classy, as well as outstanding, and the food is plentiful, and very well prepared. The presentation is also quite nice. Highly recommended.4/26/2013 12:00:00 AMA lovely place to take a friendA lovely place to take a friend for a Birthday Lunch! It was chilly outside and we ended up sitting by a fire in the fire place. Fabulous!4/24/2013 12:00:00 AMIt's a pleasure to have aIt's a pleasure to have a leisurely brunch at this friendly spot. Quality and quantity are part of every dish, and there is never an attempt to rush you.4/21/2013 12:00:00 AMThis was my first time visitingThis was my first time visiting this restaurant with my wife. It was a gem of a place . . . especially if you like historical "Craftsman" Style homes. This restaurant was once a home that was converted into a restaurant . . . the restaurant, therefore, has plenty of charm. Everything on the menu was appealing, the service was spot on and the food was fantastic.4/20/2013 12:00:00 AMMy first time at this restaurant. My first time at this restaurant. Small and cozy. Close to Pantages Theatre. There for brunch and then to see a play. Good eggs benedict for brunch.4/13/2013 12:00:00 AMWe went to Off Vine just beforeWe went to Off Vine just before theater reservations. This is a cute house converted into a restaurant located a ways from Hollywood Blvd. It is a good distance from Hollywood Blvd. so don't make plans to walk to this restaurant and go to the theater. We were there for brunch and the location and menu was perfect. Heavy on the breakfast entrees but listed were a couple burgers and sandwiches which qualified it for "Brunch". Food was good and portions were generous. Service was great. Lots of hipsters enjoying outdoor dining in an otherwise busy area of Hollywood.4/7/2013 12:00:00 AMGood for a "pre-Pantages" dinnerOff Vine is a great choice for a "pre-Pantages" dinner. The atmosphere is unique compared to other restaurants in the area. Off Vine is a converted home behind condo towers and retail stores. We had a group of 7, and this party size was a good fit for their large round table in the front room in front of the fireplace. The food was satisfying and lived up to the "California American" description on their website. The carrot & ginger soup was a great choice for a starter before the turkey meatloaf. Be sure to ask your server about the dessert souffle when you order your dinner to account for the longer preparation time. Great choice overall!4/6/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat location and food pre theaterWe found this restaurant to be conveniently located near the Pantages theater. The menu offered a wide range of delicious selections and specials. We enjoyed the ceasar salad, yummy chicken marsala and the gnocci. We finished with a chocolote souffle, all incredible! The wine recommended by our server, an Austrailian Shiraz was perfect! Our server asked if we were going to the theater and paced our meal perfectly to allow time to walk to the show. One recommendation I would make is skip the valet parking and park on the opposite side of Off Vine. We were charged $5 for valet and an additional $5 for theater parking (which is still a bargain) but the other lot next door, is a flat $5 rate. The valet was very slow is car return.4/6/2013 12:00:00 AMWe always have wonderful serviceWe always have wonderful service and very good food here. The host greets guests with warmth and enthusiasm. The servers are friendly and knowledgeable about the food and the wine. It never disappoints!4/3/2013 12:00:00 AMWent for an anniversary dateWent for an anniversary date and it was the perfect place! There's romantic indoor, dim light, seating and outdoor patio seating depending on the weather and preference! The servers are very attentive! The food is delicious! They only serve beer and wine. I would recommend Off Vine to anyone looking for a date night restaraunt or just a cool place to eat!4/3/2013 12:00:00 AMWill definitely be back!Charming best describes this 1900's bungalow tucked in off Sunset. I appreciated all the beautiful spring flowers scattered here and there in the dining room. The beautiful smell of jasmine as you walk through the arbor was a nice start to the evening. Cozy and charming warm wood floors, small fire in the fireplace, impeccable service, friendly, warm, inviting.
Food was above average - we had the braised short ribs and flat iron steak. Also tried the blacken shrimp, Off Vine and Caesar salads were delicious. The chocolate souffle was heavenly. Nice sparking peach wine and a glass of Moscato were delightful - light and refreshing.
Very easy parking, several valet options in the area and a good place to dine before the theate4/2/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat place for dinner orGreat place for dinner or before theater. Great outdoor dining or indoor by fireplace4/2/2013 12:00:00 AMWe absolutely love Off Vine.We absolutely love Off Vine. The food is delicious, excellent service, love the atmosphere and adore the house that is used for the restaurant. We have been twice for half off Mondays and once for brunch on Sunday. Every time has been awesome and the dinner prices on Monday are unbeatable for the quality and quantity.4/1/2013 12:00:00 AMAlways a fabulous meal andAlways a fabulous meal and staff! We always bring our out of town guests to Off Vine.4/1/2013 12:00:00 AMRetureing Often!!!I had such a DELIGHTFUL time the first time I visited "Off Vine", I just had to return.
I tied a number of menu items, all were SUPERBER. Their sauces are delectable.
The Salmon with cherry's is remarkable. Both the Stuffer Bell-Pepper and Pecan Crusted Chicken are ADDICTIVE.
The Off Vine's Monday specials are a TREMENDOUS VALUE.
Off Vine has a lovely patio for dinning and is very, VERY ROMANTIC.
The only problem with Off Vine is the terrible parking but it is across Vine Blvd from The Ark-light.
I will DEFFINATLY be returning to eat often at The Off vine.4/1/2013 12:00:00 AMEverything was excellent.Everything was excellent. Ensure you order the souffle at the beginning of your meal, as it takes extra time to prepare but is to die for!4/1/2013 12:00:00 AMWe re-visited Off Vine afterWe re-visited Off Vine after a break of a few years. It was a popular spot of ours when we were dating and we returned again for an anniversary dinner. It was just how we remembered and we were very happy that we decided to go back again.
I had the spinach and arugula salad followed by the salmon, and we had the chocolate souffle for dessert. All the food was delicious and reasonably priced. The service was excellent - can't wait to go again.3/30/2013 12:00:00 AMWhat a gem!Very quaint little craftsman style house off the main strip. . Food was wonderful, service was wonderful! I can't wait to go back.3/30/2013 12:00:00 AMWhile I found the serviceWhile I found the service good and the ambiance, sitting outside on a sunny day, very good, my turkey burger was a disappointment. It was devoid of condiments, dry and the chips that came with it were not crisp but slightly soggy. So I would not order that dish again if I return.3/27/2013 12:00:00 AM"BEST of The Greatest"I had booked "Off Vine" with another neighboring restaurant in mind. I have never been pleased with any of my mistakes until last night. The food choices, prices, quality, and pleasantly different tastes set them above the average cookie cutter dishes and service I am used to at surrounding locations. Hospitality with a homelike atmosphere is what makes "off vine" the gem that is. Off Vine street in a literal sense and off the standard grapevine of corporate food services. TOP NOTCH HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!! SEEING A SHOW AT A LOCAL THEATRE THIS IS THE PLACE TO GO!! cheap covered parking open till 11 and only 5.00 all3/24/2013 12:00:00 AMA charming neighborhood restaurantA charming neighborhood restaurant set in an old house. Had a salad, which was very good...great service.3/23/2013 12:00:00 AMLoved itWe had a great family Birthday dinner, seven of us, all adults and one six year old. Everyone had a great time. The food, service, and atmosphere was fantastic. We were eating before going to a show, and they were very aware of getting us through the meal and on our way on time, without us ever feeling rushed. We loved it and will be back.3/23/2013 12:00:00 AMThis is my third visit toThis is my third visit to this restaurant. The food is outstanding. I love the old house and its atmosphere.3/22/2013 12:00:00 AMA WONDERFUL FIND FOR GREAT FOR!!!I was thrilled with the service.
Their "Pecan Chicken" which the server recommend is addictive.
Their pork is excellent.
They are quite creative in their menu.
The location is a little tricky BUT we'll worth the effort.3/22/2013 12:00:00 AMI come here regularly wheneverI come here regularly whenever I go to the theater in Hollywood. It's tucked away from the noisy street but easy to find. The food is reliably good and home style and the service staff is always friendly and helpful.3/19/2013 12:00:00 AMA Great RestaurantGreat food...with a variety for vegetarians and vegans. We are willingLove this place! We are willing to go to Hollywood (not a common practice) for this restaurant.3/11/2013 12:00:00 AMOur waiter, Travor, was GREAT.Our waiter, Travor, was GREAT. I just love that young man. Thanks3/11/2013 12:00:00 AMThis was a great place toThis was a great place to eat before a performance at the Pantages. We had a 6;15pm reservation for an 8pm show. The waiter's first question was whether or not we had Theatre tickets. He was attentive, but not bothersome, and great at getting us out without feeling rushed. The food was wonderful. We split a salad and each had an entree & wine. The patio was lovely, although the tables for 2 are a tad small with multiple plates on them.3/1/2013 12:00:00 AM
