The food was excellent, the service was more than acceptable, but the place was very noisy, at least in the large room (right wing). We didn't stop in the left wing (bar). I recommend the place.

This restaurant is excellent! Every time I go there the dishes are interesting and the service is great. There is no other seafood restaurant in Pittsburgh that comes close and in all of my travels in the US I would say this is one of the best seafood restaurants I have ever eaten at. The advantage that Off The Hook would have is that I have eaten there more than 6 times now and every time is great from bread to dessert.

Overall experience was satisfactory. Steamed clams were way too salty, but crabcake appetizer was excellent. Asparagus on swordfish was not cooked thoroughly and bernaise sauce was acceptable but not great. Swordfish was also amazing as was the sea bass with macademia nuts, even the leftovers were great the next day. Had some trouble parking (not enough handicap places), and wine list was extensive but did not have much to speak of that was not Californian. Service was on the slow side.

Had to wait 30 minutes for table for the second time. We were given a free appetizer, but did not get water glasses filled until after appetizer arrived. My husband had to get up and ask hostess for the water. The owner tried, but the service continued to go downhill. Food decent, but arm wrestling on a Sat. Night is no fun!

We went there for a birthday celebration. Although it's expensive, it is truly worth the dollars. The food is outstanding. The lobster mashed potatoes can be shared and they are amazing. The service is perfect and not overwhelming. We totally enjoyed our experience. Our server was perfect.

After hearing some very fine reports from friends, many of whom had been there at least twice in the short time Off the Hook has been open, I was quite anxious to try it. The food just wasn't anything SPECIAL. Nothing to get excited about. My wife and i each had clam chowder and a clam roll for lunch. The clam rolls were not nearly as good as Andora's, and they were more expensive at Off the Hook's. To be perfectly honest, the clam chowder is MUCH BETTER at Eat'n Park!

The food was definately the highlight of this restaurant - as it should be - however, the ambience left you feeling like you were in a strip mall. For the relatively high prices - they should at least have blinds on the full wall of windows overlooking the parking lot. We went for our anniversary, and were placed at a table on the main walkway - instead of a private table in the back that remained empty during our entire meal. We were slightly disappointed by that. Food highlights - oyster selection (& sauces) was great! We had sea bass, calamari, and scallops for our main courses. Everything was wonderful and the portions were satisfying.

From beginning to end, the experience is completely top shelf quality. Lisa, one of the owners, is very attentive and makes certain that wait staff is exceeding expectations. The fresh oyster choices made the night get started on a high note. 1/2 dozen Dabob Bay, California oysters were first. For those who like a nice and briny West Coast oyster, this is a good one. The next 1/2 dozen were Kumamoto Oysters from the North Pacific Coast. With a sweet, fruity flavor and smooth buttery texture, Kumamoto's are considered by many to be the world's most perfect oyster. Entrees selected were perfectly cooked tuna and Chilean Sea Bass with lobster mash and Cajun cauliflower. The meal was so good, we were still talking about Monday morning!

Menu had numerous great choices. Food was great! New waiter was receiving guidance from seasoned waiter. Couple of things disappointing - dining experience while very good became a marathon (2 3/4 hours) and despite having reservations, initially seated next entrance to kitchen and upon request moved us to a back room area that had little to no ambiance.

So, not being native to Pittsburgh, I was in search of a good place to have an important business dinner, and boy did Off the Hook not disappoint. We had the specials (there were 5!) - mine was a beautiful salmon with extra-crispy skin and fantastic lobster mashed potatoes on the side. Yum! But the best was desert: the "world's best carrot cake" sure was - completely deconstructed sticks of carrot cake with an amazing frosting topped of a great wine choice from their awesome list. No wonder it's hard to get a table here on the weekends - a real gem!

This is a great place for a special occasion. Off The Hook has a great selection of fresh fish and wine. This had to be the best fish dinner that I've had around Pittsburgh. The wait staff is extremely friendly and knowledgeable. It's a little pricey, but nothing to prevent me from going out for my anniversary. The lobster mashed potatoes are a great side to add to your dinner, and the carrot cake is an awesome way to finish your meal.
