  • "The food was definately the highlight of this restaurant - as it should be - however, the ambience left you feeling like you were in a strip mall. For the relatively high prices - they should at least have blinds on the full wall of windows overlooking the parking lot. We went for our anniversary, and were placed at a table on the main walkway - instead of a private table in the back that remained empty during our entire meal. We were slightly disappointed by that. Food highlights - oyster selection (& sauces) was great! We had sea bass, calamari, and scallops for our main courses. Everything was wonderful and the portions were satisfying."

  • "From beginning to end, the experience is completely top shelf quality. Lisa, one of the owners, is very attentive and makes certain that wait staff is exceeding expectations. The fresh oyster choices made the night get started on a high note. 1/2 dozen Dabob Bay, California oysters were first. For those who like a nice and briny West Coast oyster, this is a good one. The next 1/2 dozen were Kumamoto Oysters from the North Pacific Coast. With a sweet, fruity flavor and smooth buttery texture, Kumamoto's are considered by many to be the world's most perfect oyster. Entrees selected were perfectly cooked tuna and Chilean Sea Bass with lobster mash and Cajun cauliflower. The meal was so good, we were still talking about Monday morning!"

  • "So, not being native to Pittsburgh, I was in search of a good place to have an important business dinner, and boy did Off the Hook not disappoint. We had the specials (there were 5!) - mine was a beautiful salmon with extra-crispy skin and fantastic lobster mashed potatoes on the side. Yum! But the best was desert: the "world's best carrot cake" sure was - completely deconstructed sticks of carrot cake with an amazing frosting topped of a great wine choice from their awesome list. No wonder it's hard to get a table here on the weekends - a real gem!"

  • "They bring out these amazing garlic rolls with butter. The waitress, Ashley was very efficient, friendly, and super sweet. The seafood was amazing!! Sea scallops were melt in your mouth. Highly recommend the salad with figs--perfection. We will definitely eat here again for a special occasion."

  • "This is a great place for a special occasion. Off The Hook has a great selection of fresh fish and wine. This had to be the best fish dinner that I've had around Pittsburgh. The wait staff is extremely friendly and knowledgeable. It's a little pricey, but nothing to prevent me from going out for my anniversary. The lobster mashed potatoes are a great side to add to your dinner, and the carrot cake is an awesome way to finish your meal."

  • "We went to Off the Hook for my birthday and it was a very special experience. The service was wonderful and I trusted their recommendations. I even got a free dessert for my special day and although I was stuffed, I ate every last bite! My husband rates a good restaurant on the bread. And the fresh baked, light as air, warm tasty rolls were to die for! The lobster mashed potatoes were so yummy and rich, I could have eaten them for dinner, but they were plenty for the 4 of us to share. Our entrees were terrific and if you love fresh seafood this is a place for you to experience!"

I love Chilean Sea bass and I didn't like the cut or preparation in this instance. The server Matt and our desert was amazing. Overall we will not be back unless we are craving desert. Bar side seems a little less stiff."

  • "My husband and I decided to try Off the Hook for our anniversary, and we were so glad we did! The service was outstanding. Our waiter was very attentive and made excellent recommendations. The appetizers were mouthwatering, and my strawberry salmon entree was "to die for" delicious. It was by far the best seafood I've ever had. To top it off, we ordered dessert, and my husband, who usually always passes on dessert, split the carrot cake with me and we didn't leave a crumb on the plate. Overall, outstanding food and superb service. The only recommendation I would make is to place some sort of shade on the window that allows light, but "hides" the parking lot."

  • "My husband and I had a fantastic dinner here on Saturday night. I had Strawberry Salmon and he had the Mahi Mahi. Both were excellent. We also shared the lobster mashed potatoes. They were awesome! Service was great and we were able to wait in the lounge until our table was ready. If you want to eat here for dinner on the weekend, make sure you get a reservation in advance because it fills up. Great experience. We'll be back!"

We do not go out often, due to issues with food allergies, however, the staff assured us that they could easily accommodate our concerns, and we were delighted with the evening, quality of the food and overall experience. I cannot think of a better dining experience, because the only other restaurant we were considering is now closed. Off the Hook is certainly in a class of it's own, and we are now confident that our entire family can be accommodated with the exceptional quality of the food, selection, and service."

When our dinner was served the presentation was excellent and the taste was far beyond our expectations. When I made the reservations I stated that this was a special occasion as it was my wife's birthday. One of the first things by the waiter did was to wish her a happy birthday which I thought was their way to acknowledge that this was indeed a special occasion. I would recommend, and have already recommended Off the Hook to friends and relatives."

  • "My husband chose Off the Hook for our 24th anniversary dinner. We had been one other time and knew the food would be delicious. I wanted dessert, so we skipped appetizers and salads and went straight to the entree. I had the crab cakes, which are much more crab than cake. Perfect! I picked the parmesan fries for a side and they were crisp and flavorful. My husband had the stuffed shrimp, and since I was not offered a bite, I would say he was pleased with his choice. His side was the lobster mashed potatoes, which are sinful and definitely worth the calories. I barely had room for the triple chocolate latte for dessert, but it was too good to pass up. A visit from the owner, Lisa, made the night special."
