Diner Reviews
  • "The new menu seems more limited than in the past and features more traditional Irish foods than I remember. The Guinness Beef Stew was tasty and filling. We will definitely be back."

  • "This was our first time to dine at O'Faolain's and it was a pleasant experience. The service from our waiter, Eric, was great."

  • "Always enjoy the food and comfortable ambiance of O'Faolain's. While they excel on their Irish fare, they also have a nice menu that appeals to those of us across the pond. I particularly love their burger and chopped salad. Their staff are very friendly and go out of their way to make every visit enjoyable."

  • "This was our first trip to O'Faolains and we were glad we went. First, you can make reservations on Open Table which is nice, so we made reservations for 6:00 pm on a Sat night - it wasn't really necessary as there were lots of open tables when we arrived. It's located in a strip mall type area so doesn't look like much from the outside - plenty of parking obviously due to the location. Food was very good, service was excellent, there was Irish music playing in the background, it was quiet enough to carry on a conversation in a normal voice, and the mgr came by to check on things - even gave us a free dessert. Definitely would recommend this place."

  • "Everything was PERFECT except the bar was load & carried over into the dining area!"

  • "We LOVE the great music (Mostly Irish) and the energy of the crowd. We had a fabulous time and always enjoy O'Faolain's."

  • "It's better to go during the warmer months when you can sit at the outside bar and enjoy the music. The food is good, and reasonably priced. The staff are friendly. It is a bit disappointing though to be in an Irish pub, and there not be any Irish music playing..."

  • "Quality of the food has declined over time. I had the chicken pot pie and it was better the way it used to be made with the fluffy pastry crust. Very disappointed in the change."

  • "An Irish pub may not seem the place for a quiet lunch. But O'Faolain's fits the bill. Excellent attentive service, and a short but very adequate menu of salds and Irish/British specials. Try the chicken salad!"

  • "The attention to detail was excellent. Very friendly and accomadating staff. Everything on the menu was a delight. We had a lovely dinner with the folks; tucked them into bed, and returned for a beautiful evening on the patio with live music"

  • "This was a find I found on OpenTable when traveling. It was a fun Irish type place with good beer and a quite nice Irish theme food. I would certainly go back."

  • "Not your average Irish Pub. Very nice atmosphere, great service, and outstanding food. They use the best of ingredients. Not only can you get traditional Irish food, but the menu has expanded to include things you'd expect in a fine restaurant. We eat there frequently and have never been disappointed."

  • "It was a nice quite restaurant. You can hear yourself in conversation. There is space for groups. It's a nice place for a romantic dinner as well as a family gathering. The ambiance is nice, low lit, casual dining. Reminds me of authentic restaurants I have been to in Ireland. The manager is engaging with the customers which again is an authentic feel. One note on the fish and chips, the fish is not authentic in that the head and tail are not still intact. It is breaded. My wife had the crab and mac which was really nice. This would normally scare most...lol. The food is not heavy but as any Irish meal, it was comforting."

  • "O'Faolain's is one of our favorites! Here we can bring friends knowing that the food will be good, the service good - sometimes excellent - and the ambiance generally conducive to conversation. As members of the 70+ club we still go to restaurants to converse, not to text, talk on the phone or play electronic games. It's nice to have place where we feel comfortable and welcomed!"

  • "I had a fantastic time with my three girls for brunch on Sunday afternoon and becauseofnthatmfun time I brought my husband back this evening. Next time I'll call first to find out if there is any parties or office functions happening. And they used a very loud mike for way too long!!! I was hoping for my husband to enjoy the quality of the food and service we enjyed"

  • "My husband and I had recently moved and were looking for a nice restaurant to go to for our anniversary. I came across O'Faolains and boy am I glad I did! Our server was amazing and gave us the best service we've had in a long time. She was telling us all about the different events and things they do there. Our food was done perfectly and came out quicker than we expected. We will definitely be going back again and again. Thank you O'Faolains for a memorable night!"

  • "The dining area is filled with dark wood and deep rich reds and greens. A romantic setting without being overpowering. The bar is large enough to enjoy time with friends or watch a game but doesn't intrude on the main dining floor. The half and half beer is the best in Nova. The food is great with perfect sized portions. Families will feel comfortable here as well. An outside area is available with a special menu. Highly recommend this place. Very impressive for a restaurant in a strip mall. Will come back often."

  • "Love hearing Mostly Irish (Irish band) and seeing great people. Air conditioning wasn't working (not restaurant's fault), so experience could have been better."
    Dined on 7/17/2011
  • "Not complaining about the noise. It's an Irish Pub so that's to be expected. There was entertainment the evening we were there and the group was great so that made it all the more fun. Our waitress, Skylar was very attentive. The pot pie, Shepherd's Pie and ribeye were very good. The seafood special didn't have a vegetable or starch so that was a disappointment."

  • "The entire staff helped make possible the "best first date" ever. 99% of the credit goes to the wonderful young lady that graced me with her presence that evening but the 1% part that O'Faolain's fulfilled is NOT to be underestimated. It was SO good I hope never to have another FIRST date like it ever again but rather a second, third, fourth, fifth (and so on). You can bet that I...and hopefully we, will be back. Cheers!"

  • "We were pleased to find this great gem of a place so close to home. The manager regularly made the rounds to ensure everyone was pleased. Service was attentive and friendly, but not intrusive. Food was delicious. We definitely will return."

  • "The food was very good--perfectly prepared. Our server was gracious and incredibly helpful, suggesting a beer for one of our party and bringing a taste for her which proved out his choice. I only wish it was closer to me!"

  • "Why not a touch of the Auld Sod in suburban DC? The food was lovely, the drink was lovely, the service (via Kilkenny & Kerry) was lovely."

  • "Mostly Irish is a great band. Thanks for having them. We appreciate the opportunity to hear them."

  • "We've been here several times, and this was our first bad experience with the service. Either the waitress was new, or she was just not very good, or she was overwhelmed (or all three). The food was fine. I had the Kinsale Seafood Chowder for my appetizer and the Blackened Ribeye for the entree. To be honest, I would have liked a little more substance to the soup... it seemed kind of thin and didn't have a lot of seafood, but it tasted good. The steak was cooked just right and came with a pile of onion straws and blue cheese gratin potatoes. Delicious! I ordered a side of asparagus to get my green veggies. We appreciated and enjoyed the visits by the manager to see how things were going."

  • "The music by Mostly Irish is super-fun. All of the patrons in the restaurant had fun singing and eating great food. It's an Irish pub brought to Loudoun. We LOVE this place!"

  • "Loved the lamb chops that was a Friday night chalkboard special. Big serving, 3 thick chops, great mashed, veggies too. David a great server."

  • "Our experience at O'faolain's was exceptional. We had a group of 17, and the restaurant was more than accommodating to our needs. From the beginning, our server gave us time to settle ourselves and have a few drinks while people were showing up. She took the time to even learn our names when we ordered and throughout the night politely greeted us asking for refills, etc. The food was amazing as always, we are a big fan of the Irish classics, Guinness Stew and bangers and mash). Not a single person was unsatisfied with their meal. The restaurant had a charming ambiance, with a live acoustic set playing in the background on the bar side of the restaurant. Overall, AMAZING!! Also try the Guinness brie as an appetizer and cheesecake for desert!"
