Oceanaire Seafood Room - DCCouldn't ask for better service. We went for our anniversary dinner and I mentioned this in my email reservation. Several employees wished us a happy anniversary throughout our dinner, they presented my wife with a dated menu that said "happy anniversary" on it to be taken home as a keepsake, and they gave us a complimentary baked Alaska set ablaze table side for dessert. The Oceanaire went out of their way for us and we really appreciated it.6/15/2013 12:00:00 AMExceptional service and bestExceptional service and best selection of seafood I've seen.6/15/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat for out of town visitorsThe kitchen sticks to the tried and true, and does it extremely well. The service is very attentive, The wines are marked up pretty high, but there are some very good bottles available if you are willing to pay the price. The restaurant is great as a destination for out of town guests, including children, if the expense account level prices do not bother you.6/15/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat Graduation Lunch!!The food was superb and the wait staff very courteous and efficient. We took 8 family members to lunch after a high school graduation at DAR Constitution Hall. Our food serving was a generous proportion and the appetizers, the calamari, great!! Would recommend it as all around a great dining experience. Thanks for making a great day even more memorable.6/12/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat food! Our waiter (Mustafa) was very attentive and knew about the menu and how good each item was that we selected. The food was outstanding and Mustafa made our visit special.6/9/2013 12:00:00 AMMy favorite in the world! Can't say how much we love this restaurant. Have been to Oceanaire in Dc and San Diego - both perfect!!!6/8/2013 12:00:00 AMA bit pricey to be a regularA bit pricey to be a regular venue for me. Would go again for special occasions.6/7/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat Food near MetroI went into DC on a Friday night and wanted a good restaurant near a Metro station. Oceanaire was easy to find, and the food was fantastic. My party and I were a bit underdressed, as Oceanaire is a white table-cloth type of place, but they were perfectly gracious. The room is fairly small and has lots of tables crammed in, but still manages to feel fancy.6/7/2013 12:00:00 AMAs always, everything was greatFrom the mussels to start the evening off to the baked alaska for the finale, the food was excellent, as was the service. Such an enjoyable, and relaxing dinner in a great town.6/7/2013 12:00:00 AMAWESOME!!Absolutely one of the best dining experiences I've had. Great wine, incredible oyster list and the entrees were phenomenal!6/6/2013 12:00:00 AMThe fish was fresh. The foodThe fish was fresh. The food was wonderful/ The noise level was very loud. Too loud for relaxed discussion.6/6/2013 12:00:00 AMHad a great evening with 8Had a great evening with 8 college room mates and their wives, service was excellent as was the food, and we enjoyed 3 (or was it 4) bottles of a nice Oregon Pinot Noir I had not expected to see on the wine list. Oysters were outstanding. Great evening and we were not rushed by management as we stayed for for 3 hours.6/3/2013 12:00:00 AMwowThis was amazing hayward put waiter was the best he was funny, knowledgeable about the menu the food was out of this world the crab cakes were great, stuffed shrimp wow this was great for my girlfriends birthday6/1/2013 12:00:00 AMDelectable diningbeautiful ambience, relaxing and soothing. elegant. loved the menu. it was difficult to choose there were so many excellent fresh fish options. would definitely go back. a highlight meal in washington dc.5/27/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat SeafoodThe seafood that we had was outstanding- raw oysters, halibut, and salmon. The waiter, Sam, was very friendly and knowledgeable.5/26/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat food, efficient, unfriendlyWhile on vacation, I took my parents to Oceanaire for our "seafood" night. From the South we value efficient but friendly service. My Dad got the mixed grill, delicious, my mom the recommended crab cakes and I the Chilean sea bass. All of the meals were excellent. However. Our waiter was snobby at best, with limited recommendations. But he was efficient. Our meal did not come out too fast which was my request as we were in one of their earliest seatings and ordered an appetizer. The food and our secondary server was prompt. I wouldn't go back, but it was good.5/22/2013 12:00:00 AMEvery restaurant does seafoodEvery restaurant does seafood differently. Oceanaire does it best. Good to go with someone who has dined here before or it may be overwhelming - too many great choices, same with great sides.5/21/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat Service and FoodMy wife and I had a great time. The server was very knowledgeable about the menu items and his recommendations were spot on. The price point is a bit high but the food is worth it.5/18/2013 12:00:00 AMMy second time dining at OceaniareMy second time dining at Oceaniare and it was just as wonderful this time around. Food was cooked perfectly, tasty, and there truly is something for everyone. It was a great way to cap off graduation weekend and I would highly recommend it!5/18/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat service, nonintrusive,Great service, nonintrusive, knew our needs before we did. Food came out in a timely but unrushed manner . Chef knew his food!
seasoned perfectly, crab legs NOT mushy or overcooked. Would recommend restaurant to all friends whenever they are in DC5/18/2013 12:00:00 AMThe spring risotto preparationThe spring risotto preparation went extremely well with the Alaskan Black Cod (Sablefish), as well as the Swordfish, which it was paired with on the menu. The strawberry-rhubarb crisp served with strawberry ice cream provided a delightful conclusion to the meal; sharing it was a great idea.5/17/2013 12:00:00 AMOur waiter ,Marco, was great. Our waiter ,Marco, was great. Bought us a dessert for our anniversary we were celebrating. He was great5/13/2013 12:00:00 AMGreate Seafood and terrificGreate Seafood and terrific sides. If you are in the mood for a Deadly Catch or Catch of the Day from around the world - this is the place. Oysters are great as well.5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMElegant but overpricedWe had an elegant Mother's Day dinner but thought the food was overpriced. Oceanaire has an extensive menu for a wide variety of selections. With all the sides being about $8 or higher, this makes for a high priced meal. The service was excellent and the food was good, but we won't be back anytime soon.5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMFood was very good, but notFood was very good, but not outstanding. Small portions -- very high prices. Service was, however, impeccable. Went for Mother's Day and restaurant maintained great service during this busy day. Overall, had a very good experience and Mothers were very satisfied with the lunch meals. We had a sampling of oysters (one dozen), swordfish, Chilean seabass, banana's Foster French toast, asparagus, sweet potatoes, 3 mimosas, and the baked Alaska for dessert. Price: $300.00. good experience but overpriced.5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat ExperienceOceanaire was recommended by locals in the area and it was wonderful. The scallops were amazing and the cheesecake was the best I have ever had from a restaurant.5/10/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat seafood dinner! My wife and I both had a great evening dining experience. The seafood sampler was wonderful and the atmosphere and service were excellent.5/8/2013 12:00:00 AMExcellent service! It was my brother's 20th birthday, and the waiter made him (and my whole family) feel like we were stars. I sent instructions via OpenTable, and every one was followed with even more effort put in than I'd imagined. My brother also raved about the crab legs being the best he's ever had. I ordered mussels, which honestly were not great, but my Woodford Manhattan made up for it -- easily the best I've ever had! Overall, the presentation and service -- not to mention the smile on my brother's face -- made the night a top experience. Would definitely recommend!5/8/2013 12:00:00 AMLively High-End dining in DC.Excellent seafood; crab cake a specialty
Energetic noise level at the prime dinner hours... a little much, but ok if you have a booth.
Lively - you won't be bored.
Very Good wait staff - James is the best of the best.
Observed a few DC movers/shakers dining.
Expect $50-$60 / person w/o drinks
$9 Valet Parking - convenient, reasonable.5/7/2013 12:00:00 AMFood was good. Service wasFood was good. Service was slow. I don't know whether the problem was the waiter or the kitchen. For these kind of prices and the number of waiters, it should be faster.5/6/2013 12:00:00 AMA lot of sea food and lots of funI have been visitingthe Oceanaire since they opened the door. At that time, i worked in this neighborhood, it was much more frequent but I want to come back this place as many as I can. The signature Chilean Seabass is still delicious and every single one of our table enjoyed all foods including oysters appetizer through desert. It has been almost one year since I visited last time, nothings changed great seafood and great service.5/6/2013 12:00:00 AMGood Food and good serviceThis was my second time coming to this resturant and I have to say that the food impressed me like I had never been there before. The only thing I would say that needs to be improved would be the servers. I had many questions about some of their specials on the menu that night and all my servers reply was"its good"! No, description of the food, what it might taste like, no recommondations etc....... I would think that with a menu as great as it was that the server "must" be knowledgeable about what's on the menu!5/4/2013 12:00:00 AM.Always a delight to eat the.Always a delight to eat the food at Oceanaire. Just a really great formula.5/3/2013 12:00:00 AMA new "Special Occasion" favoriteWe had a fantastic meal at Oceanaire Seafood Room. The menu and wine selections were all wonderful and the service was impeccable. I wish that the ambiance had been a bit more quiet and romantic (there was a large table of women near us who were quite loud). Overall, a perfect place for that special occasion.5/3/2013 12:00:00 AMlast minute find for fiveGreat downtown location. Would be the perfect lunch spot break for tourists. Try the oyster selection, all fresh all a little different.5/2/2013 12:00:00 AMExceptional as alwaysThis restaurant has become something of a tradition for our group from TN when we're in DC on business. Consistently exceptional service and food. Always a treat!5/2/2013 12:00:00 AMScallops and RisottoFor any foodie, this dish was to die for. The risotto is the best I have tasted and was wonderful!5/2/2013 12:00:00 AMOutstanding! The entire experience was wonderful....great food, great service, friendly staff....absolutely wonderful!5/1/2013 12:00:00 AMA fantastic dining experienceA fantastic dining experience with a great food and service. I am looking forward to my next visit.4/27/2013 12:00:00 AMEvery item we ordered fromEvery item we ordered from the menu was excellent. The service was A+. From the time we sat down we received immediate and continuous customer service. The food came out quickly and was hot and fresh. My husband was so impressed, he couldn't stop talking out the restaurant to our friends and family! We will definitely be back with a group of people soon.4/27/2013 12:00:00 AMEntrees were very good. CalamariEntrees were very good. Calamari appetizer was pedestrian. The desert (Creme Brûlée) was disappointing. Service was adequate.4/27/2013 12:00:00 AMOne of the better seafoodOne of the better seafood places in the country. My only concern is the lack of spicy dishes. Given that it is a seafood restaurant the ribeye and pork chop are remarkably goods4/26/2013 12:00:00 AMHad a wonderful dinner withHad a wonderful dinner with my friends. We certainly would return.4/26/2013 12:00:00 AMFABULOUS AS ALWAYSWHAT CAN I SAY...NEVER A BAD MOMENT AT OCEANAIRE. THE FOOD IS ALWAYS WONDERFUL AND THE WAIT STAFF IS GREAT.
BRAVO!!!4/24/2013 12:00:00 AMWe had drinks at a livelyWe had drinks at a lively bar prior to our reservation. Then we were seated at our precise reservation time. The waiter was curteous, knowledgeable and very pleasant. Food was exactly what the menu offered. My Chilean sea bass was perfect. The shrimp scampi and little over dressed and the sides of asparagus and sweet potato were a great complement the original bottle of wine we ordered from a vast list was not available. Our waiter recommended another bottle that was superb. We had a lovely evening and I would highly recommend a visit. Downside. The maitre d was a bit snippy. Did not convey the relaxed and easy dinig experience we had.4/24/2013 12:00:00 AMGo...ENJOYI've been to both the Baltimore and DC locations, and both are excellent! You get a professional staff who are attentive, but not bothersome. The food is excellent. The seared Ahi tuna is an excellent choice for dinner, but watch the wasabi, it's hotter than those in your typical sushi joint. Had the mozzarella tomato salad, the mozzarella has to be made there, it was soft and actually tasted like cheese. So what do I have to say? Go...Enjoy!4/24/2013 12:00:00 AMNot for Frozen Seafood Lovers...As always, I'm impressed with Oceanaire!! Simply put... You can never go wrong when choosing this restuarant as your dining destination.4/23/2013 12:00:00 AMVery extensive menu and knowledgeabVery extensive menu and knowledgeable staff. The dessert was amazing!4/20/2013 12:00:00 AMWe celebrated the 60th birthdayWe celebrated the 60th birthday of a friend on Friday evening. From the time we entered to the time we left we had wonderful service. The host/hostess was very gracious with a pre-printed menu as a "gift" for our friend. There was also a complimentary baked Alaska for dessert which was plenty for four. Each entrée (one simply grilled salmon, one mixed grilled seafood, one salmon with spinach, one halibut special) was well prepared and presented well. The wine and drinks were fair pours and promptly served. The bread basket was refilled without asking and the rolls were pleasantly warm and crusty. Our waiter could not have been more kind - he was always there for us but never intrusive. A lovely dining experience.4/19/2013 12:00:00 AMVERY VERY NOISY, Do notVERY VERY NOISY, Do not expect to be able to carry on a conversation without raising your voice. Tables very close so you have limited privacy. Ask for a both. Food very good, presentation good. Good wine list.4/17/2013 12:00:00 AM
