The maître d graciously accommodated very specific table requests - quite table, no booth, and willingly reseated us to ensure it was right. He even turned down the music at our request to help one of our hearing impaired guests join the conversation. There wasn't a thing served to our table that wasn't perfect and delicious. The fried asparagus was fabulous. The scallops were the best ever. The cod and the salmon were amazing. This is a fantastic restaurant with a skilled staff and some of the very best food in Washington all wrapped into a lovely dinning experience. Bravo!"

The so-called "family style" side (for four persons) was enough for 1-2. Again, the prices were much too high for the portions served. The restaurant was noisy; I had to lean toward speakers at my own table to hear what they were saying."

I choose this restaurant because of a few past good experiences and proximity to my guests corporate offices. Which I must say displeased this out of town senior exec to no end. Poor marks all around."

  • "I attended the Oceanaire in celebration of my 21st birthday. This was my second time dining at this restaurant. It's so funny, because I had the same waiter both times, what a coincidence right?!?! Both the service and the food were impeccable. The waiter was very charming and attentive on both occasions. Overall I had a wonderful dinner with my mother. Definitely my favorite seafood restaurant."

  • "My husband and I love this restaurant and come back whenever we come to DC. The food is fabulous and it's rare to find Baked Alaska on the menu these days! I had the shrimp and grits appetizer for my entre and it was plenty - as good as I get in Louisiana! I had the Key Lime Pie for dessert and it was awesome - couldn't eat it all, as it really is enough for two people. Memorable dinner - thanks!"

  • "Wasn't expecting much from this place since it is a chain restaurant and all, but I was wrong. Had reservations; however, we showed up early. They told us they didn't have any spots available even with all the empty tables. We decided to go to the bar area and order dinner there instead. We received a very warm welcome from Elmer and Fidel. We ordered a bunch of small bar items so we could try a bit of everything. We had the mussels, which were great, but small. Then the calamari, delicious red chili sauce. Crab cakes, filet mignon sliders, fish tacos, shrimp ceviche, and the mini sundae. All were good, but the crab cakes and the mussels were my favs. The filet mignon sliders were a little dry unfortunately. Def worth a try tho."

  • "Been going there for a long time. It is not as good as it used to be. 10 requests for extra butter. No plate to eat the appetizers on. Dinner table order of hash browns "Oceannaire" burned to a crisp. Entree fish extremely overcooked. The crowd seems to now be the "blue jean" and backpack tourists. I would have to think twice about going back. At over $100/person, we have come to expect more. This has been one of our favorite restaurants for many years. We were disappointed!"

I understand that people have bad days from time to time but this restaurant needs to understand is that the hostess is the first contact for most diners and the lady you have acting in that role needs to be above all else friendly and welcoming. The current choice for this position just put me off. Shewas snippy and rude. Luckily the time spent with this person was minimal. The rest of the the staff was outstanding and the food was top notch."

Recommended a special that was 2 items from the menu put together to make one dish for the price of about $55.00. Not very clean needed to vacuum floors. We ate here 2 years ago it was great.   • "Not your stereotype seafood restaurant with fried clams and flip flops. This is much better. Numerous fresh fish options, shellfish, and a tasty steak. The Chef selections in the middle of the menu are outstanding. Fish, just better with interesting preparations. Of course you can switch preparations and fish, but why bother. The rare tuna melted in my mouth. Service has been excellent each time. Pino is a professional server with an excellent grasp of what wine to match with the dishes. The Newton unfiltered Chardonnay was spot on. Confirmed with the 2nd bottle. Brandon's Black Book offers some special limited wines they offer. Be sure to ask."

  • "I have been to Oceanaire for their Happy Hour (which is great) but I'd never eaten dinner there before. We had a wonderful meal, great service, very "old school." Waiters in long aprons and lots of linens on the tables. The food was excellent but since we were there for pre-theatre dining, it was a very energetic scene and it was fairly pricey. Would definitely go back."
