  • "Fantastic menu which changes daily. Many choices of oysters. The waiter was great at helping me to select those that I would like. My husband who does not eat seafood thought the hamburger was great. The creamed corn was incredible. Overall a perfect dining experience."

  • "If there you have a large party, they do not split the checks."

  • "We enjoyed a very special, wonderful meal at Oceanaire. The maître d graciously accommodated very specific table requests - quite table, no booth, and willingly reseated us to ensure it was right. He even turned down the music at our request to help one of our hearing impaired guests join the conversation. There wasn't a thing served to our table that wasn't perfect and delicious. The fried asparagus was fabulous. The scallops were the best ever. The cod and the salmon were amazing. This is a fantastic restaurant with a skilled staff and some of the very best food in Washington all wrapped into a lovely dinning experience. Bravo!"

  • "Had dinner on Friday night. Typical energetic scene. Great food as always."

  • "We love the food! I would really like to know how to make the beets and dressing for the beet salad! The sea bass and crab cakes and fresh green beans are perfect !!!! Would go back again and again!"

  • "If your budget can handle $200 for two for dinner, this place has GREAT food and service."
    Dined on 4/4/2014
  • "Our third visit - it's expensive so we only go on special occasions - and once again it was well worth the money! Service is second to none - from recommendations, to speed of service - all perfect. The food was fabulous. The Basked Alaska for desert is well well well worth it!"

  • "The portions were small and the prices high. For example the main course fish was an appropriate size for an appetizer, and there was nothing else on the plate. The so-called "family style" side (for four persons) was enough for 1-2. Again, the prices were much too high for the portions served. The restaurant was noisy; I had to lean toward speakers at my own table to hear what they were saying."

  • "Perfect service (at least if you work with Anthony), excellent food, comfortable tabes and great value for the money - what else is important? Starts with a polite and efficient valet ($9 in advance but that's ok - it's DC) and gets better from there..."

  • "All four of us had food that was overly salted to a degree 2 out of the 4 stopped eating. Also poor marks for handling a food allergy with one of our diners. I choose this restaurant because of a few past good experiences and proximity to my guests corporate offices. Which I must say displeased this out of town senior exec to no end. Poor marks all around."

  • "Everything we had to eat was just wonderful. Our 10 year old grandson had ceviche and shrimp scampi . The adults had fresh fish and crab cakes so everyone was well satisfied We like this restaurant because of it's great food and service, you always are assured of a nice evening."

  • "I attended the Oceanaire in celebration of my 21st birthday. This was my second time dining at this restaurant. It's so funny, because I had the same waiter both times, what a coincidence right?!?! Both the service and the food were impeccable. The waiter was very charming and attentive on both occasions. Overall I had a wonderful dinner with my mother. Definitely my favorite seafood restaurant."

  • "Service was prompt and professional. Food was solid - my salad had been pre-platted and boston lettuce had started to freeze, but that was only issue.. Clams amazing.. lobster mac cheese amazing, spinach good- Hollandaise was out of mix best guess. All entree solid"

  • "Good food and service, but not very accommodating in getting a booth."

  • "Great food in a lovely setting. Terrific service. Large number of menu items to choose from. Everything you want in a seafood restaurant."

  • "This is the place to go for fresh fish while in DC. You will not be disappointed. Very varied menu and superbly prepared fish dinners - their service is only exceeded by their entree freshness. A bit pricey, though, unless you've got a "rich uncle" or inflated expense account to cover the costs. Mine came out of my moth-eaten pocket."
    Dined on 3/28/2014
  • "Great food, but we had terrible service. Our server was never around, which was odd given how attentive he was to other tables."
    Dined on 3/29/2014
  • "We have gone many times. This time was disappointing. Mussels were fair. The special of Rockfish Miso was almost not eatable. Incredibly salty. I love miso so no stranger to the saltiness but this was way over the top."

  • "My husband and I love this restaurant and come back whenever we come to DC. The food is fabulous and it's rare to find Baked Alaska on the menu these days! I had the shrimp and grits appetizer for my entre and it was plenty - as good as I get in Louisiana! I had the Key Lime Pie for dessert and it was awesome - couldn't eat it all, as it really is enough for two people. Memorable dinner - thanks!"

  • "entertaining clients came for the food will not come back because of poor service I understand a gratuity is included for a large party to ensure that a server gets an appropriate tip, However this is the second time I've been here and received horrible service with a group. The waiter spent his time catering to his other smaller tables, My party was an afterthought."

  • "Wasn't expecting much from this place since it is a chain restaurant and all, but I was wrong. Had reservations; however, we showed up early. They told us they didn't have any spots available even with all the empty tables. We decided to go to the bar area and order dinner there instead. We received a very warm welcome from Elmer and Fidel. We ordered a bunch of small bar items so we could try a bit of everything. We had the mussels, which were great, but small. Then the calamari, delicious red chili sauce. Crab cakes, filet mignon sliders, fish tacos, shrimp ceviche, and the mini sundae. All were good, but the crab cakes and the mussels were my favs. The filet mignon sliders were a little dry unfortunately. Def worth a try tho."

  • "My group had a wonderful time. Everything we ate/tasted was excellent. The ladies in the group would highly recommend the Orange Cloud as the drink of choice. We will definitely go back to dine."

  • "Been going there for a long time. It is not as good as it used to be. 10 requests for extra butter. No plate to eat the appetizers on. Dinner table order of hash browns "Oceannaire" burned to a crisp. Entree fish extremely overcooked. The crowd seems to now be the "blue jean" and backpack tourists. I would have to think twice about going back. At over $100/person, we have come to expect more. This has been one of our favorite restaurants for many years. We were disappointed!"

  • "Everything about this dining experience was great except for the hostess who was down right snippy . I understand that people have bad days from time to time but this restaurant needs to understand is that the hostess is the first contact for most diners and the lady you have acting in that role needs to be above all else friendly and welcoming. The current choice for this position just put me off. Shewas snippy and rude. Luckily the time spent with this person was minimal. The rest of the the staff was outstanding and the food was top notch."

  • "This is always a great place to eat seafood. I have never been disappointed."

  • "The prices were much higher than 2 years ago. The waitress spent more time trying up sale you. Recommended a special that was 2 items from the menu put together to make one dish for the price of about $55.00. Not very clean needed to vacuum floors. We ate here 2 years ago it was great. Not anymore we are taking it off our lt."

  • "Not your stereotype seafood restaurant with fried clams and flip flops. This is much better. Numerous fresh fish options, shellfish, and a tasty steak. The Chef selections in the middle of the menu are outstanding. Fish, just better with interesting preparations. Of course you can switch preparations and fish, but why bother. The rare tuna melted in my mouth. Service has been excellent each time. Pino is a professional server with an excellent grasp of what wine to match with the dishes. The Newton unfiltered Chardonnay was spot on. Confirmed with the 2nd bottle. Brandon's Black Book offers some special limited wines they offer. Be sure to ask."

  • "I have been to Oceanaire for their Happy Hour (which is great) but I'd never eaten dinner there before. We had a wonderful meal, great service, very "old school." Waiters in long aprons and lots of linens on the tables. The food was excellent but since we were there for pre-theatre dining, it was a very energetic scene and it was fairly pricey. Would definitely go back."

  • "Best overall seafood available in DC Carolina swordfish dynamite is fabulous. Large portions. Pricey but worth a special occasion or important business."

  • "A few friends and I visited Oceanaire to kick off my birthday weekend and it was an amazing start. The food was absolute wonderful. I came back and told my husband all about it. He cannot wait to try it out for himself."

  • "Very slow service. Portions were way too big but food was nothing special."

  • "I treated my friend for her 70th birthday to lunch at Oceanaire. The food was delicious and the ambiance was very nice. The service was excellent with very thorough descriptions of some of the favorites on the menu and answered questions about the potential presence of gluten. My friend had the iceberg wedge salad and the crab melt sandwich, both a hit. I had the seafood cobb salad, gorgeous with big chunks of crab meat, though for me the dressing disappointed a little, a bit bland. I also added a side of mashed potatoes; they are a huge portion, with a big dollop of sour cream on top and are mashed with the skins on; that's the way I like them but some might not."

  • "I have been going to this restaurant for 10 years. Granted it is only 2 or 3 times a year and always in March, but I can tell you not only has the food been great every time, but the staff has always made sure what ever reservations I needed they were able to meet me at worst half way. I am impressed with this kind of service because I am a nobody that comes to DC once a year and they act like I'm a long lost friend. Thank you!!!"
