The wait staff is outstanding. You must try it at least once but I warn you, it will become your fav place!5/5/2013 12:00:00 AMOur party of four had a wonderfulOur party of four had a wonderful dinner at Oceanaire Seafood Room this past Saturday evening. Well prepared cocktails started the event. Spinach salad, iceberg wedge, BLT salad and crab cakes were the first course for our group with no disappointments. Main course: Sole a la Floretine, Horseradish crusted Halibut, Filet mignon and shrimp and seared scallops. All superbly prepared and delicious. It was a Birthday celebration and they surprised us with Baked Alaska (cookies and cream ice cream inside) - delicious. We brought our own wine (2008 Lewis Chardonnay). Great choices on the wine list but a bit pricey. Scotty was our server and did a great job. Will be back for sure.5/4/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat experience overallMultiple wait staff was highly intuitive (filling drinks w/o being asked, and I drink a lot of water so that's impressive), helpful, friendly without being obsequious and professional. Food was outstanding - the brussels sprouts and the scallops are the to die for. Creme brulee dessert was wonderful, but it's a big portion, more suited for two.
would do it again in a heartbeat. About $200 for 2 people, one glass of wine, one mixed drink,, mains, dessert5/1/2013 12:00:00 AMBest Seafood aroundThis is an excellent seafood restaurant. Price is not for the faint of heart, so for us it's a special occasion spot.4/26/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat seafoodThe food and service were excellent. The Kid Rock with Halibut is a new favorite thanks to the recommendation by our waiter, Spencer. We had a lovely time.4/26/2013 12:00:00 AMWithout question one of theWithout question one of the best meals ever. The steak was unbeleavable and the halibut with the horseradish sauce was perfect....add a few coctails and a nice bottle of wine and we were in "food heaven". Next time we are in San Diego you will find us at the Oceanaire.4/25/2013 12:00:00 AMNeed a better system to seatNeed a better system to seat reservations. Had a reservation but still waited to sit with plenty of open tables.4/25/2013 12:00:00 AMThe service here far outshinesThe service here far outshines the food. We had a wonderful experience as Ken helped us pick the best items on the menu. You do indeed get what you pay for here so don't be cheap. From the moment you enter, the staff treats you like the most important people in the room. Absolutely wonderful. Oh and it was a plus that despite being one of the younger patrons here, we didn't feel like we were overlooked.4/20/2013 12:00:00 AMThe Usual Excellence! The Oceanaire never disappoints and this visit it was no different. Trust your business group outing or a special occassion to Oceanaire in the gas district.4/20/2013 12:00:00 AMEverything was fantastic -Everything was fantastic - from the service, to the atmosphere, and the food. Great job!4/19/2013 12:00:00 AMThis is the 4th OceanaireThis is the 4th Oceanaire that we have visited and I would rate it as good if not better than the one in Washington DC. The food was prepared exactly to our liking. My husbands Sea Bass was one of the best he has ever had. We had a card from the Marriott for a free appetizer - Calamari . As I don't eat Calamari they substituted a crab cake- ( good, but a little too runny for my liking). I grew up with Maryland Crab Cakes. I had the Shrimp Cocktail appetizer as my dinner entree and it was more than enough- large succulent shrimp.
Our Waiter Nick was exceptional. Such great service from him ( he could teach many how to provide great service). Nick was constantly in motion- something you rarely see anymore.4/14/2013 12:00:00 AMOceanaire was very nice forOceanaire was very nice for a special occasion. It is expensive, but the food is very good so you don't feel like you've spent a lot of money for something you can get anywhere. The seared Ahi was prepared beautifully and you could taste the freshness. The swordfish was also prepared perfectly with great flavor. The Baked Alaska was fun, but a bit too much rum! It was a great experience. We would go back.4/13/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat Seafood place in a cityGreat Seafood place in a city of great seafood. This meal was not as good as the last one we had. Kitchen had problems with my scallop and gnocchi dish. Couldn't get it hot.
My husbands fried shrimp was hot and delicious. Oysters EXCELLENT!4/12/2013 12:00:00 AMIt took us at least a quarterIt took us at least a quarter through the meal to realize that our menus said, "Happy 7th Anniversary." Nice touch, Oceanaire, nice touch.4/6/2013 12:00:00 AMAbsolutely delicious food!Absolutely delicious food! The clam chowder was excellent, and the Oysters Rockefellar were cooked perfectly. They can accommodate large parties or just a romantic evening for two. We were all impressed! Can't wait to go back again.3/29/2013 12:00:00 AMYour staff is pretty awesome.Your staff is pretty awesome. Great "gem" in the ruff!3/27/2013 12:00:00 AMI have been to this restaurantI have been to this restaurant before. It is always a great experience. I highly recommend making reservations. Their crab cake appetizer is amazing. I tried the seafood mixed grill this time which was excellence. The drunken Mexican swordfish is another favorite. For dessert, you must try the baked Alaskan.3/23/2013 12:00:00 AMOur Server was oh-so perfect,Our Server was oh-so perfect, the food superb, ambiance calming still exciting - Thank You!3/22/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat seafood. Thanks for making it a wonderful evening with the wife.3/15/2013 12:00:00 AM400 Jump StreetFrom the moment we walked into the Resturant; we were treated like royalty on my 60th Birthday. The menue had"HAPPY 60TH BIRTHDAY" typed on it. Very friendly staff from bottom to top. I know the manager asked us at least three I times if everything was going OK. It had been too long to come back and it won't be long before we return. Finally the waitress had a beautiful personality and smile.3/13/2013 12:00:00 AMVery nice restaurant. CrabVery nice restaurant. Crab cake was perfect, all crab meat with NO filler! Ordered some firecracker fish dish and it was cooked to perfection. Only minor pitfall was the food is very expensive.3/9/2013 12:00:00 AMSTEPHANIE LANDMESSERamazing wait staff, never felt rushed, food was excellent, would definitely recommend AND VISIT AGAIN3/2/2013 12:00:00 AMA secure chain in the sea of choiceI had eaten here previously and was pleased to have a reason to return. The food selections are obviously weighted to seafood, but the oyster options alone could make a grand meal, and the daily fish specials posed many decision problems. It was very enjoyable, wonderfully served with a highly attentive support crew and manager. The wines by the glass were limited and expensive but quite enjoyable. Yjis is a chain that makes it easy to return.2/11/2013 12:00:00 AMV generous menu for RestaurantV generous menu for Restaurant Week, with regular size portions. We had a great evening!1/25/2013 12:00:00 AMincredible mahi mahi dynamiteincredible mahi mahi dynamite and crabcake as well, key lime pie was great as well1/18/2013 12:00:00 AMOur birthday celebration wasOur birthday celebration was excellent although when I asked if they "did anything for birthdays" I thought they might bring a small cake with a candle. I didn't expect to be charged $10 for Baked Alaska (which was delicious). Our 6 oz Filet Mignon with Shrimp & Sour Cream Mashed Potatoes side were outstanding in a lovely atmosphere.
The only real problem is parking downtown and their valet service is $17 before tip1/8/2013 12:00:00 AM
