  • "We love this restaurant and try to go whenever we are in town. The new location is ideal! But it is quite noisy, or at least it was this past Saturday night. Next time I will request either a booth along the outer perimeter, or perhaps go during the week. I had lobster and it was incredible. My husband always gets, and loves, the crab cakes. Never had a bad meal, or cocktail, here!"

  • "I have two daughters, and for each of them, I have taken them do Oceanaire for their 16th birthday. Both times have been exceptional experiences for me and my girls, and I could not be happier with the food, the service, and the overall sense of personal touch. The girls had happy birthday memos with their name, special treatment from our waiter and cook, and this all made them feel special on their birthdays. It has been wonderful for me. The food was fantastic, and while it is expensive, the meal was worth every penny."

She was treated like a queen and I honestly had one of the best meals I've ever had-- wonderfully cooked swordfish, and everyone else in our party felt the same way about their various seafood dishes! (the Corvina and the halibut in particular are also both phenomenal!). I highly recommend Oceanaire to anyone who wants a truly special dining experience."

  • "We found that you could arrive in just about any attire at this restaurant and fit in. Folks from all walks of life were enjoying an evening out. From where we sat, it was a fabulous booth to see what everyone else was ordering and enjoying. Now lets get down to the food! The plate of veggies brought with the bread was reminiscent of an old midwestern supper club item (which I thought was a nice touch). The crab cakes were beyond anything we've ever had before. The salmon was perfect. The fillet was seared just right. All was delightful and as we had hoped. Perfect night."

  • "For a land-locked area, you will be hard-pressed to find better seafood. We were there for restaurant week, and every course was a winner. The crabcakes never disappoint - practically all crabmeat. The entree portions are substantial, and the food is prepared wonderfully. It's hard to beat the prices during restaurant week."

  • "We went for our 11th anniversary. Everything was wonderful. It was our first time at this new location & it was as good as we remembered of the former location. The decor seems a bit more generic than before. But the food is amazing. This is a great place for a special occasion. TELL THEM when you make your reservation! They surprised us with Happy 11th Anniversary printed on our menus & a free dessert. Be ready to spend your money. Its expensive but its worth it."

  • "I really wanted to like Oceanaire but the service really let it down. Our waiter seemed to forget about us but was very attentive to the other tables in his section. We watched as they were promptly served their crudites and bread and their orders taken. My parents enjoyed their seafood but the piece of chicken I received was a poor butchered hunk of chicken at best. I would have thought there would have been more quality control on the pieces of meat prepared and sent out. Is it worth going to for the bar? Perhaps. However, I feel that there are better seafood restaurants in the Twin Cities for the price."

  • "The Halibut was the size of a child's portion @ Red Lobster, was burned on the bottom & was not light on butter as requested; the order of scallops only included 2; the steak was rare in the middle instead of medium well/well as requested; the hashbrowns were greasy contrary to request; the vegetable garnish to the steak was tiny; & the bill came to $224 with tip which was way too expensive for the quality of the dinner."

  • "Food was good, just not great like we expected. Service was excellent. Lots of nice wines to pick from. Not as romantic as I had hoped, maybe should have ate later, we started around 6 PM. I have to admit I asked for a good seating spot and was given a prime spot so no complaints there. I would recommend the restaurant but caveat is it fell short considering the price tag. About $100 per person, included an entree each, splitting an appetizer and a side along with a glass of wine each, taxes and tip. Add in a little for valet and tip,but is is worth it if you hate finding a ramp or place on street."

  • "The Oceanaire Cobb Salad was great! My husband enjoyed the light-battered fish and chips. Nice dining experience. BUT is anyone in the restaurant business listening to customer feedback on the intrusive noise levels? I'd like to suggest that there are a whole big bunch of Baby Boomers out there who have the TIME and MONEY to eat out extensively. Most of us find the loud, pervasive noise levels to be a problem. I really don't want to shout at my partner or table guests at dinner and I resent leaving with a tired voice. Turn down the decibels and improve the conversation, please!! Smart restaurant owners who pay attention to this tip will most likely find an increase in savvy, mature diners who are willing to spend well for quieter ambience."

  • "I made the reservation to celebrate my husband's 75th birthday. Our first surprise was a personalized menu wishing him Happy 75th Birthday! He loves seafood, so I was pretty sure he'd like the place, but I had no idea how much! He grew up on Long Island, so he had the Blue Point oysters for an appetizer. Then he he the swordfish, which is difficult to get in MN. both were fantastic! I had the lobster bisque -- terrific. And the sea scallops, also terrific! Our waitress was excellent. She had great recommendations, which we followed to the "tee". Oceanaire is expensive for Minneapolis, but well worth it for a special occasion."

My pan seared mahi mahi was DELISH alone with champagne mussels, and white asparagus salad. Our waitress was super friendly and nice she made me feel welcomed!! I want to come back and eat everything!!! ;)"

  • "The food was great and the server was top notch. But notwithstanding the fact that the restaurant was shalf empty, they stuck us in their little room. Like we were not cool enough for them. We had pants and shoes and everything and we were dressed better than most. Maybe they were just trying to spread things out but intelligent restauranteurs do not put mature customers with reservations at the kiddie table. So, good food and service. Poor execution. I hate dumb management. Amateur day. Probably will not be back."

  • "Took the wife out for the anniversary, she wore a killer dress, looked like a 10. Oceanaire always has some great food. Oysters were a little off (not really the season..). Our entrees were great so was dessert, Service was great. It was a little loud in there and we were packed in table to table. Just walking to the restroom was an effort. Still a great place for dinner. You want good food and service, done. You want quiet ambience to yourself, find another......"

  • "We travel 75 miles with our children every year, at least once, to enjoy the wonderful service and wood that Oceanaire has to offer. When we travel we are always looking for the best oysters, and we have yet to find a place that has a better selection or better tasting oysters. The service is always very attentive, and kind. Our children are now in their late teens and early 20's and this is still a big treat. The seafood is always the star, unlike some places that put so much on the fish that you can't taste it. The balance is perfect, and the different ways you can have your seafood prepared is endless!"

The only thing I was a bit sad about that they didn't have Tuna Steak on the menu, but will not stop me from going back!! Thanks to your hostes she kindly changed our reservation the day before and our table was ready when we got there! Thanks to Rob our wonderful waiter and his great sense of humer!!"
