Oceanaire Seafood Room - MinneapolisDinner to enjoyMy server was highly professional and did an excellent job in providing exceptional service. He was quite knowledgable about the menu which I found helpful and interesting. I was having dinner with my son and we found all of the food very good. My son found the ambiance a little stuffy for his taste but I found it classy.6/15/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat food, wonderful serviceA great menu with a an accomplished waiter! Another great experience!6/14/2013 12:00:00 AMWonderful place for an anniversaryI could not be more pleased with Oceanaire for helping my wife and I, celebrate our 44th wedding anniversary! Great service (thank you Jim), perfectly prepared food and our small booth was just right for us to feel very special!
The shrimp cocktail and crab cakes were heavenly! Can't wait to get back!6/14/2013 12:00:00 AM31 Years of a great marriageThanks for making our 31 years special, expect us for 32. The food, the service, and the ambience was fabulous.
Fredrick and Jolene6/14/2013 12:00:00 AMFirst visit of the yearWe try to make it to Oceanaire at least once a year, and have selected it for our anniversary the past two years. The food was good as usual, but I did leave this year slightly disappointed with our overall experience. Our service was very average, and seemed more like something you would receive at a bar and grill rather than a higher end establishment. Our server did not really interact with us, and although the restaurant did not seem overly busy, she seemed to not have much time for us. Frequently leaving us waiting for her, or trying to flag her down. We had the fried asparagus and escargot to start, and entrees of Rainbow Trout, Scallops, Salmon, and Swordfish and I tried them all, and they were outstanding.6/9/2013 12:00:00 AMWonderful eveningAs always, the evening was delightful. The baked Alaska served for special occasions is a fun addition!6/8/2013 12:00:00 AMFirst classThis was our second time at Oceanaire but first in new 6th Street location. Love the layout and look. Amazing service and food, from sampler appetizer (crab, lobster, oysters, shrimp) to scallops and halibut. Wines were great as well. Strawberry rhubarb crisp was delicious.
But as great as the food is, the service meets or exceeds it. Ricardo, our waiter, is unbelievable. Attentive, helpful, kind, knowledgeable. Wonderful food, great atmosphere. We can't recommend Oceanaire enough. The food and service make it the best of the best for our special occasions. We saw many large groups having what appeared to be graduation dinners. What a place for a special dinner!6/8/2013 12:00:00 AMFresh Seafood SelectionThis restaurant is for the diner who loves fresh seafood. Many selections to choose from. Our waitress was helpful in suggesting some popular picks. Was a great place to go for our anniversary celebration.6/8/2013 12:00:00 AMAwesomeThe service was tremendous. They made us feel very welcome and addressed many times happy anniversary. The food was fabulous and the complimentary dessert was to die for. It couldn't have been a better experience!!!6/7/2013 12:00:00 AMCurrently, best fish in Twin Cites!I'm a seafood purist and pretty hard to please. The kitchen nailed the "simply gilled" prep for both the Barramundi & the Halibat.. The fish couldn't possibly tasted fresher. Perfect! The crab cakes while slightly overcooked are still the best anywhere because they're not filled with filler. Highly rec the cold crab cocktail as the lump crab meat in used is terrific. Only beef is the $30 corkage fee is high for the metro which tends to be15-$20 to bring in your own wine. We had more than one btl and got hit with 3 corkages which is a bit heavy since we ate a lot of food too. Cool with paying the corkage fee but like it to be more reasonable and more reasonably applied. Definitely be back as the service was first rate & the food memorable.6/4/2013 12:00:00 AMConsistently Good FoodI bring clients here for lunch on occasion and am consistently impressed with the quality of food.6/4/2013 12:00:00 AMVibrant and Pleasant...Food - Excellent. Growing up on the East and West Coast I have always loved seafood. Oceanaire's seafood is fresh and delicious just as you would expect if you lived out by the ocean. The chefs did a wonderful job on all the preparation to truly bring out the taste of the food
Wait Staff - Excellent. From arriving to seating was enjoyable. Our waiter (Chuck) was very professional and had an outstanding personality. He is very knowledgeable and explained every questions regarding any item or entree. His recommendations on food and drinks were wonderful.
Overall - Excellent. From begining to end this is what you would expect in a high quality resturant. From staff to food it made a wonderful evening for everyone.6/1/2013 12:00:00 AMA great special occasion spotThe Oceanaire is always busy (we went on a Sunday evening) and for good reason. They have very fresh seafood, prepared skillfully. Service is professional and never rushed. If you want to feel well taken care of and have a great meal, this is the place!5/26/2013 12:00:00 AMA full house on Saturday night,A full house on Saturday night, very loud, but the food
was excellent, the Copper River Salmon is in
and was the perfect dish for thi evening! So well done!5/25/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat food and great service.Great food and great service. We went for our anniversary and it was the best spot in Minneapolis for that. Our server recommended some great items as well.5/25/2013 12:00:00 AMThe food and service remainsThe food and service remains impeccable. Unfortunately, the new venue is so much louder than before. What used to be my favorite restaurant really isn't now because of the noise level.5/25/2013 12:00:00 AMradio voice/ TV looksOur waiter was Micheal. We were very pleased with him. Our family was there for our sons' graduation from college. Micheal intorduced the menu to us in a very easy to follow explanation. He was very articulate with the food on the menu and he was very personable with our family. All of our entrees were different and everyone shared their entree with each other. The Halibut was amazingly meaty and tasy, oury son had the Tuna which he has everytime. We also ordered the salmon, sword fish and scallops. Every entree we ordered was deliciouse and prepared with the least amount of added extras which made them so very simply yummy. Micheal had the voice of a radio commentator but had the looks too, so TV would be a perfect fit !5/25/2013 12:00:00 AMI always look forward to havingI always look forward to having the Arctic Char. It is amazing!!!!5/25/2013 12:00:00 AMOur Anniversary Favorite. My husband and I went to the Oceanair in Minneapolis on our honeymoon one year ago! We went again this year for our anniversary...and loved it! The food was excellent, and our waiter was fantastic. We will be returning! Thank you Oceanair for another romantic experience.5/24/2013 12:00:00 AMperfect experienceIt took awhile to decide what we wanted to order because of so many good choices and everything sounded good.
The food was excellent and our server Ricardo was even better.
We would recommend to try Oceanaire for that special occasion5/24/2013 12:00:00 AMFab!!My husband and I had been there before and had an amazing experience. For his birthday, he chose to go to Oceanaire because the food is so great and he knew the service would be perfect for his special occasion. I made the reservation on open table and under the special comments, I put that it was Kevin's Birthday. When we arrived, the menus had "Happy Birthday Kevin" printed along the top. What a great way to start the evening. It was great service as usual. We had our daughters as well and they really enjoyed it as well. The waiter was very helpful when the girls were asking questions about the menu. He was also very good at treating them like adults (they are 12 and 14) and they really appreciated that.5/22/2013 12:00:00 AMBest Dinner We Have Ever Had!!!We celebrated our 3 Year Wedding Anniversary on Wednesday, May 22, 2013, and we have to say this was the BEST dining experience we have ever had. The food was absolutely amazing, the service was impeccable, and the whole ambiance was so incredible. The happy hour prices on apps and drinks are killer and easy on the pocket book, especially for downtown....we were more than impressed! Tried the Tequila Shrimp Ceviche and the Crab Cake Sliders.....absolutely the BEST apps ever!! Very happy with the portion size as well for the price. Everything was above and beyond our expectations at The Oceanaire and we can't wait to go back! Shanae, our server, was so awesome, helpful and fun...definitely made us feel right at home! A+++++++++++++++ :)5/22/2013 12:00:00 AMWonderful ExperenceI took my sister out for her birthday and this made it an extra special occasion!5/21/2013 12:00:00 AMBusiness LunchHad a business lunch there, and was a great experience all around.5/21/2013 12:00:00 AMserverOur waiter was named John and he was wonderful. Very knowledgable, very polite, wonderful personality.5/19/2013 12:00:00 AMfirst timeFood was great. Service was the best.
Michael did a great job in making use feel at home and serving us what we wanted.5/18/2013 12:00:00 AMOur first time at OceanaireOur first time at Oceanaire was amazing. Our waiter Dan, attended to all of our needs and was very helpful with the selections of the menu. He was fun and we had a great experience. The food was delicious and well prepared. We will come visit Oceanaire again.5/18/2013 12:00:00 AMOceanaire will always be my favWe went to Oceanaire for lunch. It was busy, but not too busy. I love that they have a reasonably priced fish special on the lunch menu every day. It's always a surprise what fish it'll be, but it's always outstanding. This time it was Cordova - and of course it was so good.5/17/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat ServiceWe enjoyed dinner at Oceanaire for a special occasion. Our group of 7 was pampered - treated so well. Our wait staff was absolutely fantastic - great sense of humor, great service. We enjoyed our wine and champagne and the menu was explained - we had a great experience topped off with a fun performance with a baked alaska. Oceanaire is one of our favorite spots to celebrate.5/16/2013 12:00:00 AMBirthday CelebrationWhat a wonderful restaurant to celebrate a special occasion! The food...lobster, asparagus, sour dough bread was spectacular! John, the server made us feel so comfortable and special...even served a surprise flaming Baked Alaska. Also, he took pictures of the occasion!5/15/2013 12:00:00 AMMother's DayGreat menu options for Mother's Day. Will need to go back for dinner vs. brunch5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMA Required TasteGreat food, top of the line service, excellent presentation of the food. Class act on dishes that would best suit your personality. Patience in dealing with double minded clients. This restaurant is an experience you want to be apart of. I have left the biggest tip over scale in my life at this establishment .5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMEnjoyable dinnerWe came here to celebrate a birthday. Service was excellent. We ordered appetizers including calamari and Hawaiian tuna poke. These were really good. The fish entrees were fresh and tasty. The mahi mahi louie was great. Desserts are wonderful and the portions are very generous. We dined here a couple of months ago and wanted to return for special occasions. We'll be coming back again.5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMMother's DayMy family went to Oceanaire for Mother's Day and we had a wonderful time. Service was fantastic, There were special menu items for brunch. the bloody Mary was Delish, crab cake Benedict was amazing (but the was just a little too much sauce... I would ask for just a little), caramel roll was perfect and the hashbrowns were yummy but on the spicy side.5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMAs usual, I enjoyed my Mother'sAs usual, I enjoyed my Mother's Day. I asked that an item not printed on the menu be prepared and it was. Very accommodating staff and the food was great as I expected.5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMSeafoodsBest for the seafood selection. Always great food and service! Frequent patrons, never disappointed.5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMAbsolutely superb! The food was excellent and in generous amounts. The prices were a little high, but I thought fair, given the quality and quantity of the food. The wait staff was pleasant, friendly and helpful. We will definitely be repeat customers!5/11/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat Place for DinnerThis was our first time at Oceanaire, but it won't be our last. It starts with valet parking at below-market rates for downtown evening dining. Our table was waiting for us, as we were on time. The waiter could describe the characteristics of different wines, even different vintners of the same type of wine. The menu changes daily, based on the seafood market. We had a hard time deciding what to order, because there were so many wonderful choices, from a mussel dish that would make a one-dish inexpensive meal to a huge lobster. We settled for a Mexican shrimp ceviche, haddock with an Oscar touch and crab cakes. They were all wonderful, with huge chunks of crab in the cakes, just like in Maryland. Creme brulee was the perfect finish.5/11/2013 12:00:00 AMAmazing Anniversary dinnerMy husband and I made reservations for our anniversary. They greeted us with an anniversary wish upon arrival and informed us they were running behind. We took a seat at the bar and enjoyed a delicious cocktail while we waited for our table to be ready.
We had a romantic booth and a great server. The food was delicious - Caribean Mahi Mahi "Louie" style, creamed corn, lobster mash potatoes. They also brought us a Baked Alaska for our anniversary. This is the one thing we were a little confused on....bc our server brought it without us ordering, so we figured it was on the house. Then we got our bill, and we were charged for it. Not a huge deal, but we were not going to order dessert - and if we had, we would have picked something else.5/11/2013 12:00:00 AMThe good:
High quality foodThe good:
High quality food well prepared
A ratio of staff to customer that's almost 1:1
The bad:
portion sizes vary wildly. I got a filet mignon that could fit in a coinpurse, and a slice of cheesecake that wouldn't fit in a briefcase.
I feel bad even mentioning the portion thing, as we had a fantastic time, but asking about portion size is very important at this place.5/10/2013 12:00:00 AMClass Act!My husband and i went to Oceanaire on a rainy night before a show at the Guthrie and enjoyed a beautiful meal.5/8/2013 12:00:00 AMA complete description! We needed a lunch place while being at a conference. Reservation was for 4. All that had the specials were very happy. The regular items on the (very extensive) menu- such as the Oysters Rockefeller were not just bad but horrific. We had a waiter that described everything too much- we were having a business lunch, the descriptions of the specials etc went on and on..
Nice enough for a lunch if you are at the conference hall.5/6/2013 12:00:00 AMA+++++++Food was excellent. Service was fabulous!!! Staff was very helpful and attentive. Food tasted soooooo good!! Must have lobster mash potatoes!! My husband loved the hash browns. Baked Alaska was delicious!5/4/2013 12:00:00 AMDespite the restaurant beingDespite the restaurant being very busy that night, the food and service were excellent. Our server was very knowledgeable about the menu, too.5/4/2013 12:00:00 AManother fabulous dinnerconsistently great seafood at a premium price, professional service a little slow on a busy Sat night. The whole arctic char is wonderful but big enough for two5/4/2013 12:00:00 AMBest seafood in the Twin CitiesOceanaire is hands-down the best restaurant in the Twin Cities for seafood. Their crab cakes are AMAZING!!
We celebrated our 10 year wedding anniversary there on Saturday night and it was unforgettable. The food and service is top notch! I'd recommend Oceanaire to anyone.5/4/2013 12:00:00 AMFresh seafood, perfectly preparedMy wife and I had dinner here for our 10 year anniversary. Both of our entrees were perfectly cooked and tasty. My wife had the Halibut, and I had the Mexico Corvina Dynamite - both fantastic. Our server was prompt, knew the menu well, and friendly. He also made recommendations for music in the area. Our reservations were at 7pm, and the happy hour crowd was still at the bar so it was a little noisier than I expected, but not overbearing. For a great seafood experience, I definitely recommend it!5/3/2013 12:00:00 AMDaveOceanaire has the best sea food in the city. It is our favorite restaurant to celebrate our anniversary.5/2/2013 12:00:00 AMgreat experienceGreat experience! This was our first experience dining at the Oceanaire. It was spendy, but worth the experience.4/27/2013 12:00:00 AMOceanaire is better than ever!Loved the Oceanaire in its new location. I was unaware it had moved but it was much more convenient in this location since we stayted at the Wyndham. Great food, menu choices, and martinis. Would definitely recommend.
