Diner Reviews
  • "What better way to celebrate our 15th wedding anniversary? Great food. Great Service. Memorable evening."

  • "We enjoy Oceanaire as we are sea food lovers. The menu choices are extensive and the wine list is superb. Our waitress Claudia was very attentive, well informed and made our dining experience relaxing with her helpful suggestions. Our choices were lobster and swordfish both of which were prepared well and delicious. The Caprese Salad and Spicy Calamari appetizer were quite good We look forward to returning many times and likely will take advantage of restaurant week as well."

  • "Not only did we get great service, this restaurant remembered the last time I booked through open table. The server had my name and the date, and thanked us for returning. Fabulous food and service."

  • "The quality and quantity of food did not warrant the high price. My salmon was very good but not worth $32.00. My wife's lobster was okay but certainly not worth $75.00 (her words, not mine.) The ambiance was just okay. As requested, our booth was in a "quiet area" which, in this case, means as far across the room as possible from the noisy bar. It was Friday night--the bar was jammed and loud. The service was outstanding. With a single crab cake appetizer, dinner, a glass of wine, one bourbon, and a 15% tip, our tab was nearly $200.00."

  • "There dinners are awesome but if you can find a spot on the bar or the patio between 4pm and 7pm Mon - Fri you will score amazing happy hour deals on a wide variety of drinks and appetizers!"

  • "Great dinning experiance, selection of fresh seafood is over the top"

  • "Delicious food, excellent service, but pricey. Disappointed that a wine and oyster special that was advertised one week earlier was not honored."

  • "I took my wife here for our 35th anniversary and was not disappointed. The service was fantastic and both my wife and I enjoyed the food and wine that we ordered. We will be back."

  • "The food is spectacular, but the service is definitely a step above most places I've been to. They give you this wonderful and huge dessert if its for a special occasion. The servers are excellent and always going above and beyond. We go there every year for our anniversary and have not had one bad thing to say. They even customize the menu for you. For us, it's fun to look back and see how things have changed over the years."

  • "Our one year anniversary was amazing thanks to Oceanaire! It was romantic and fun, our server was OUTSTANDING! The food, the service, the host, everything was great and we highly recommend Oceanaire! It was a beautiful evening filled with great wine, delicious food and great experiences from trying new food!"

  • "The atmosphere was fun but not too loud....This was our first time here and the food was pretty good overall. I had a larger bone in the fish I ordered and my husband's tuna got cold quickly...Other than these couple issues, the food was excellent and a great experience!"

  • "This is a great restaraunt, food is wonderful and the service is very good. If you are on a budget this is not for you. Good for anniversary or very special occassions but not a frequent stop for us. Try it out on restaraunt week when they have some specials."

  • "Starting with the relish tray and sourdough bread, the creative and delicious seafood entrees, and ending with a flaming baked Alaska, the food was excellent. What made Oceanaire even more special was the service. Our server was honest, funny, extremely quick and a very nice person. We had never been there before and he was very knowledgeable and open about recommending menu items and steering away from some items. We had a lot of fun with him throughout the evening."

  • "Be prepared for a secondary table if you are using Open Table. Booths were open but "reserved" and unused during our dining. Birthday touch was very nice. Food was very good."

  • "My wife and I had dinner to celebrate our anniversary. The staff was aware of the special event and commented on our special occasion at every turn. The food was excellent, the service was outstanding, our server was top notch and all in all the entire evening was memorable. I would recommend experiencing the Oceanaire Seafood Room to anybody. The have nurtured a culture of service excellence."

  • "The food was excellent! Loved the atmosphere; the restaurant was fairly busy but it did not feel too crowded or too loud. The gentleman that was assisting the server (with water re-fills, food running, clean up, etc..) did an outstanding job and was extremely kind! The only down fall to our service was that our server had a large party and at times that slowed our service a bit however he was still very pleasant and always acknowledged us! We even got a special treat from the chef in honor of my fiance's birthday that we were celebrating! We felt very welcomed and never rushed."

  • "I've eaten at Oceanaire multiple times now and never had a negative experience. The food and service are always great. I would recommend this to anyone."

  • "Had heard for many years about how Oceanaire was one of the best seafood places in the Twin Cities so we came with very high expectations which happy to say were exceeded!! Incredible food."

  • "First time I had ever been to this restaurant, but won't be my last for sure. The food was awesome, and the service was top notch as well. The restaurant was very clean and was arranged nicely. The wine list has some very nice wines to pick from for every type of food. I would recommended this restaurant to anyone."

  • "I saved up for this and was a little disappointed. My halibut was cold - the rest of the food was good but I was expecting excellent for the price I paid."

  • "Two visits to the current location of Ocean Air in one month and we are hooked! We had two stellar experiences. The food was amazing and plentiful. Every dish was prepared with care. The service is top notch. The noise level is very acceptable. We can not stand dinners at places where one can not hear the conversation at a table of 6….. no matter how wonderful the food. It is the whole experience we desire. And this is A+ down the line. We … will… be … back."

  • "We have had good experiences in the past at Oceanaire and the food is good. However, our waiter (Dave) was indifferent and aloof. We are not high maintenance diners, so I don't know why he had such an attitude. He ruined the experience and we won't be returning"

  • "The Oceanaire Seafood Room is amazing. This was our second visit and will definitely be a frequent stop when we're in the Twin Cities. The ambiance is unique and inviting, the wait staff is friendly and helpful and we really appreciated the care taken in selecting and preparing our oysters!"
    Dined on 6/22/2014
  • "I don't mind spending money for good seafood. Oceanaire is heavy handed cooking and way over priced! The portions of seafood are tiny and it's al carte. The expensive side dishes are bad. I will not dine there again."

  • "The service was one of the worst experiences that we have ever had. It took forever to get our food and then the waitress asked if we wanted dessert and then left to help out a big party. We waited for 20 minutes and she never returned. I had to flag down another waiter. We then passed on dessert and got our check and left. I normally leave 18-20% but not this time. For a high end restaurant that is inexcusable!!!! I blame the manager, not the waitress. Terrible service!!!!"

  • "Visited Oceanaire several times and. like usual, a very positive experience. Food was fantastic, our server was very good and all around a very nice experience with great food."

  • "The food was excellent. Our server made great recommendations for wine and provided a perfect description of the oysters, which were fantastic. I had the barramundi dynamite, which was delicious and not so spicy that I did not appreciate the flavor of the fish. My husband had the mahi mahi black and blue and enjoyed every bite. My only negative comment would be regarding the noise level. It was very loud, which is fine, but not what we were expecting. If you are looking for a romantic spot, this is not it. If you are looking for more upscale dining for a group, it is perfect."

  • "Overall the experience was stupendous. Our server Michael as well as his assistant were on top of waters, clearing the table, hot towelettes, as well as much more. The food quality was good the only real downfall was the steak, it appeared to be cooked to our liking however they had no juice once cut open at medium rare. The wind that was recomended to us by Micheal was a perfect white wine for the meal. Overall was very satisfied with the experience and plan to return again."

  • "Oceanaire is a must sometime in your life just for the experience. Most clientele come elegantly dressed though not required. It is fun to watch the faces of the customers experiencing a Baked Alaska for the first time even at someone else's table. The waiters are absolutely awesome and very friendly. We are Landry's Club members and are treated to a welcoming treat upon arrival."

  • "My father and I recently visited to celebrate Father's Day. The ambiance was beautiful and the staff was attentive (initially) and helpful. Too helpful; about 10 minutes into our visit, the waiter began using high-pressure sale tactics to upcharge EVERY damn thing he could. My poor father kept falling for it (he didn't necessarily want all of the extras - he just assumed they were included). Near the end of the meal, the waiter was suddenly absent (no more items to sell)??? Our bill was $300 for two people (I ordered a $50 entrée and a diet coke - that's it). The food was good but we left HUNGRY. Will not be back!!!"

  • "First, i specifically chose Oceanaire because my husband loves their food, and I received an email with an advertisement for $1 oysters all day and night on June 15, 2014...Father's Day. Well, no where on the email did it state that this price for oysters was on in the BAR. How embarrassing and frustrating for our family, as we love oysters and we were planning on having many, as out appetizers. For a family of three and a dinner tab of $225, you would think management would recognize their error in advertising and honor the price. So frustrating to plan for something and be falsely led. However the food, wine and scotch selections were awesome, service a tad bit slow."

  • "I brought my boyfriend here for fathers day. It was a nice setting and our server was great. My first complaint though is that they had a crsb lovers special, 5 course meal but in order for my boyfriend to enjoy it, I had to order it also. And at $75 per person, that wasn't happening. It also took quite a long time for our food to come out, about 45 minutes, I found this to be excessive. We brought our 11 week old with and when I went to the restroom to change him, I found there was not a changing table or extra counter space to lay him. Really not ok. Back to the food. We got the crab cake which was delicious. I ordered the stuffed walleye, of which a small portion was under cooked and my boyfriend got the stuffed shrimp which he enjoyed."

  • "To begin Oceanaire does give you personalized menus you can keep for your special occasion and a baked alaska for free for that birthday. It is well-known for being overpriced. My swordfish was yummy and the summer squash we ordered on the side was perfect, but the scampi was nothing special. We love good wines and the list is extensive with no descriptions, so we asked for a sommelier, but the waiter said he could manage it. The wine was too young and needed decanting. We waited with dirty dishes for long periods of time. We felt overlooked."

  • "About twice a year we venture to have dinner at Oceanaire for work celebrations and meetings with affiliates. I have never been disappointed with their food, service or environment. Many restaurants have great food but Oceanaire have wonderful food. Their staff of chefs expertly create meals with amazing taste, texture and feel. Its hard to get both flavor and texture at most restaurants. If you have a good bit of money to spend or somebody else said "you pick" i highly recommend Oceanaire."

  • "The waitress did her job with little personality. The food was lackluster for the $400 price for four. The busboys worked harder than the rest of the staff so they made up for the bad waitress. I won't go back. M&S has better service, the desserts were the best part of the meal."
