I am from New England, so finding good seafood has been a serious challenge in this landlocked area. However, the quality of the seafood at Oceanaire rivals many restaurants from the northeast. The service and atmosphere are also superb. The menu is quite pricy, but the quality of the overall dining experience makes the price worth it. They also signed a card with all staff members signatures. Mom loved it. They did not disappoint. They also included a birthday card signed by all the wait staff and comped our dessert, Baked Alaska, which neither of us have ever had before. It was awesome - both presentation (on fire) and taste.
My wife had the blackened (spicy) Long Cod and I had the Salmon on special. Both were great. We started with the clam chowder which was also excellent. While the place is a bit noisier and not necessarily the most romantic place in Indy, the food is excellent and the staff helpful and friendly. Had some amazing oysters - the waiter was very helpful in helping multiple people in the party pick those suited to their taste. Everything else was delicious and incredibly fresh - it was a great start to a very fun evening for myself and my party. When I made a reservation via open table, I noted the occasion in the remarks section. When we arrived at the restaurant, a personalized card was sitting on the table. The service was great and the food was delicious. Oceanaire provided a wonderful dessert including ice cream, layer cake, and whipped-cream (all lit on fire) on the house. It was a wonderful experience. The cost at this restaurant causes me to reserve it for special occasions only, but I would recommend to others.4/30/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat advance service!When I made the reservation ahead of time I mentioned we would be celebrating my wife's birthday - not only did they hold our reservation (we were late), but they held the best booth in the house on a packed night, had a birthday card on the table, set up a a second birthday card and chilled bottle of champagne (arranged by friends in NYC over the phone), and printed a personalized bday message on our menus - all in addition to a complimentary dessert - they went out of their way for our special occasion and it was noticed.

They had a card wishing us a happy anniversary, the staff congratulated us and even the printed everyday menus said happy anniversary.

We were quickly seated, and a relish tray, water and bread were promptly brought to our table. Our server was great - very friendly, and knowledgeable about the wine and food menu. We ordered cocktails which were perfect and served quickly. I ordered the chopped seafood salad without the feta cheese. It was fantastic as always. It is so fresh and crisp with shrimp and crab mean on top of mixed greens, with olives capers, and tomatoes. My husband had the stuffed trout, which consisted of a whole trout stuffed with crab meat and spinach. I invited my best friend for his birthday as well as a few other close friends. From the moment we walked in to the time we left we were treated very professionally. The staff was very knowledgeable and friendly. The atmosphere was perfect. Everyone really enjoyed themselves and the food was fantastic. I really appreciated everyone there for making my best friends birthday very memorable. He absolutely loved it. We had the crab cakes which are filled with crab and no filler. The au gratin potatoes were decadent and large enough for several to share. The ahi tuna was excellent as was the shrimp and avocado ceviche. Service was excellent. I had written it was my daughter's 30th birthday and the hostess greeted us with "Happy Birthday", there was a birthday card at the table and our menus had a Happy 30th Birthday banner.
