  • "Good seafood and steak restaurant that replaced "McCormick & Schmick" in the Riverside Square Mall. Nice atmosphere, comfortable seating. Food was good although the twin lobster tails were a bit over seasoned. Portions are large and some items can be shared. Desserts are huge."

  • "We met some friends there and were seated in a booth. The service was very attentive and helpful in explaining the menu. Bread was not a given until asked for and then found to be very good. My Caesar salad was very good, my husband enjoyed his Mussels and our two friends each had the same iceberg lettuce that they both enjoyed with dressing of blue cheese. My steak and shrimp entre was cooked just right and very tender, my husband said his scallops were over done though. The other two guests, one was happy with her seafood stew but the cod, one said was also too cooked. The desserts were very good BUT extremely large. Would have preferred something smaller and not so large that we had to take home with us.."

  • "Food is very good. A huge improvement over McCormick's which used to occupy this spot in Hackensack, NJ. One main draw back is the prices. It almost ruins this great spot. All in all, the dishes are good and service is good, but we are talking about $35 dollar pieces of fish??? I don't think so. Not from this place."

  • "The service was slow and disorganized-took 30 minutes to get a club soda after asking 2 servers-the menu descriptions do not reflect the dish preparations. I ordered the Salmon in a Thai Chili sauce thinking it would be spicy-I even asked the waitress about the dish and she said if you don't like spicy, you can order the Salmon plainly grilled. The dish actually came out in a sweet sauce--when I asked the chef about this since I do not like sweet preparations, his comment was --"I decided to kick it down a notch". Chopped Seafood Salad which was was actually a chopped salad with a few baby shrimp and a few strands of shredded crab meat. I am very surprised that after my obvious dissatisfaction, management didn't visit my table."

We decided to wait a bit longer for a table in the dining room. The appitizers came out before the wine, not what expected. Food was good but not great & very overpriced.   • "The decor is beautiful inside the restaurant. We were happily greeted and sat right away when we arrived. They do give a small plate of cucumber , olive, celery, carrot and pepper which is nice. The bread portion was small, but the bread was very good and fresh. We had lobster tails for dinner which were very good. A side of lobster rice and mushrooms, they both were good. The sides are big, bug not huge. The bread pudding for dessert was very good also. The service was good, not outstanding, but I would come back again. There were a couple other item on the menu that I would be interested in trying."

  • "The food was excellent and the personalized menus and baked alaska for dessert were a great birthday treat. I think their drinks are overpriced and probably would be a much better value to attend for happy hour. Second time we went the service was not as great and the lobster was chewy. The manager was gracious about our complaint but still, would have preferred a good lobster to extra oysters... Even so, I would still recommend this place for a date night."

  • "I was not impressed considering the high prices.The food was good and, but plate presentations were not great for the $60.00 dish of crab legs or the $42.00 plate of four scallops we ordered. The Crab legs were taken out of the shell and placed on a plate with one pound of mashed potatoes and two trees of asparagus, not attractive. The large tasty scallops were placed over a bed of undercooked lentels that were too salty because of the salty pork belly it was mixed with. The ambence did not have the "wow" factor I was told it had. I probably will not go back...but you never know?"

  • "My wife and I were excited to try the New Oceanaire in Hackensack, Nj. We were seated promptly for our 6:30 Reservation. That was the only positive with our entire night. We went on Sunday 2/16. Once seated we waited about 10 minutes to be greeted. Upon asking what we would like to drink, I asked for a beer list. I ordered a beer, 20 minutes later my wifes coke came, and they informed me they were out of that beer, so I ordered another, out of that too! I finally received a brooklyn lager. 20 more minutes went by and now we could order our app. The app order was never put in. Dinner took over an hour to receive, and was not worth the wait and certainly not the price. I observed 5 tables in our section sending meals back. Never again"

  • "The menu is pricey, but the quality of the food is worth it. The server and staff were efficient and friendly. They attend you without being either too absent or overly intrusive. Unfortuantely, I have a personal dislike for people who bring their obviously too young children(crying) to an upscale restaurant as this. I pay good money to relax and enjoy being served a very good meal and do not deserve to be annoyed."

  • "After a shaky start about a month ago, this upscale seafood palace has gained its footing in a big way. Portions of fresh seafood are ample to large and the preparations are delicious. I had the Iceberg Wedge salad ( great amounts of Blue Cheese) and the Seafood Stew (fabulous!). I walked out stuffed and with some money in my pocket. Yes it's pricey but here you get what you pay for and today that's a bargain!"

  • "Interesting menu and a lively scene. Food good but not fantastic, with small portions relative to the price. Kitchen needs to speed up as their delays caused insufficient table turnover to honor on time reservation. Would be nice to have some lower-priced or small plate options as well. Shrimp cocktail a bit odd, possibly because whatever the shrimp were cooked in had too much seasoning. But the fresh grated horseradish was pretty cool. Desserts are large and the only good value for the buck. May try them again when they tweak a few things"

  • "We went to Oceanaire with the kids - the ambiance was cool but it had a "hillton" feel to it. The food was good and the service was good too but it didn't feel like a hip spot or much of a sexy atmosphere for going out for date night or something. The clientelle was mostly older people but I think that may have been because we made a 6:30 reservation for the kid's sake - it might get vibey and cool later."

  • "We tried Oceanaire because it came highly reccomended. While the food was good, the portions were very small for the high prices. The "cup" of soup was the smallest I have ever seen. My husband ordered the filet and shrimp. It was 4-5 oz. with one large shrimp. He ordered it medium rare and it came out medium to med-well. The waitress took it away and ordered him another , which did not come until the rest of our party were finished with the meal. The staff were very apologetic, but this really detracted from our dining experience. The management compensated for this by bringing us a complimentary Baked Alaska for the table. The waitress was very attentive, and the problems were not her doing."

  • "Really enjoyed the food on our first visit. My wife had filet and lobster tail, I had black and bleu mahi. Both were quite good. Server was very warm and professional. Ambiance was enjoyable. One negative is that the hostesses were not very professional. We had a reservation, and they told us we would have to wait for 15 minutes. OK, fine. They did not, however, suggest where to wait, mention they would come find us when ready, or anything that normally happens in this situation. They could use some more training."

  • "Went to oceanaire 7pm on fri. Drink order took forever. Passed it off as effort in trying to get diners out in time for movies. Wait staff milling around everywhere, filling water glasses & when crowd diminished wait staff disappeared. Had to beg to get utensils to eat. Raw oysters were excellent however cooked food was mediocre at best. Scallops were under seasoned even though I opted for one of their special "treatments" (at additional cost) & dry. Sides arrived almost at completion of meal as did 2nd round of drinks. Very expensive & not a good value for the money. Go to legal seafood instead."

  • "My first time at Oceanairre we got seated next to the most awful man in NJ. He was shouting curse words, talking about guns and other nonsense. After about 5 min the management took notice, moved us to a nice quiet table, and gave us complimentary dessert. The rest of the night was wonderful."

  • "we tried to get a reservation for around 7pm but could only get 4:30. We wre in the restaurant till 6:30 and the place was never more than half full. we ordered 2 apps to split and they came out 20 minutes apart. the pasta was so firm it was hard to chew. someone took our relish dish away just as we started to eat it. Stuffed shrimp tasted like is was cooked from frozen. $17.00 for the smallest glass of wine we have ever seen and we can buy a bottled of it a 1/2 mile away for $19.00. tables were so close together that the wait staff kept bumping into me all night we took it upon ourselves to move our table out of their way. VERY disappointed."
