Diner Reviews
  • "dined at this restaurant for a girls week-end & it was fabulous. The ambience was very uplifting & the decor made you feel like you were on a cruise. The food was excellent as well as the service. Will definitely visit again if in the area."

  • "I've been going to Oceanaire since it opened in Minneapolis in the 90's. Since living in Dallas since late 90's I've gone many times. It's gone downhill! Service was horrendous!!!! Started off bad with the drink order. My husband ordered a martini with fresh lime juice. They forgot the lime juice and brought it in a side glass instead of re-shaking it. (It WAS a martini!ll). They brought our main entree but never brought any of the 5 sides we ordered for the table. What's the point??? We had to ask the manager to get them since our server Adam was completely incapable. After many years of Oceanaire, we won't be back. Their great staff and chef , I found out, are now at the Capital Grill in Plano. We'll head there from now on."

  • "The seafood was great. From the lump crab cake appetizer to the giant Atlantic Prawn and the Sea Scallops it was really very, very good. The baked alaska dessert was huge, too big for two to finish. Four or six people could enjoy it. Overall we enjoyed the food and atmosphere but service from the waiter was poor to fair. We had to search for him and ended up waiting quite a bit. I don't expect this type of poor service in a restaurant this expensive."

  • "Oceanaire always makes our short list for business dinners and as usual impressed everyone. The service was top notch! Remember the old saying "Everythig is bigger in Texas", well it applies to the desserts here for sure!!!"

  • "Although I got an email confirming my reservation, when I arrived they have no record of it. Hostess seemed ambivalent. otherwise food and service for top notch as usual."

  • "The food, the ambiance, and the service were all amazing. Although this was pricey, it was well worth the visit!"

  • "I have been to Oceanaire several times. Each time I come away saying the same thing. They are a victim of their success. We had a reservation for 8:30. It was 9:25 before we got to our table. We would have stayed at the bar but there was no room there as well. While the staff appeared capable they were very rushed and their attitudes showed it. The quality of the food was good but the portion size in relation to the price was out of line. Too many people, service too rushed to do it well, and the portion/price ratio out of whack Still a nice place but it definitely has been and can be better.."

  • "I love oysters. When I asked Wes to bring me an assortment he asked no questions. He brought out some great ones to try so I could enjoy speaking to my friend. Thanks Wes!"

  • "I don't come to Oceannaire very often, and each time I forget my "review" from the previous meal. The bread is absolutely fantastic. The crab cake is sweet, buttery crab through and through. And whatever the house salad of the season is, is always terrific. STOP THERE. The fish dish I had was good, but not great, with dynamite sauce that was more sweet than hot. Had a roasted sweet potato (for $9.95 I believe), and mushrooms. All were good, but not exceptional. And the sweet dynamite sauce with the naturally sweet sweet potato, made it all very one note. Trust your instincts and keep things simple - embrace the bread, salad and crab cake. You'll be happy you did."

  • "Overall experience was good. ad an early seating therefore we were one of first in the restaurant but we were seated in a booth near the hostess stand. This was ok but less than optimal as it was a bit noisy and busy. Food was above average and service was adequate."

  • "My wife and I selected this restaurant to celebrate our anniversary. Overall it was a nice place, my salmon with the shrimp oscar topping was really good. The noise level was a bit on the loud side , we attributed this to the close proximity of the mall entrance. We expected the service to be over the top, it was not bad , but our expectations are really high. Our finished bread plate remained on the table for the duration of the dinner- small issue, but we are all about details. Good food, on the pricey side, but ok if you have plans to shop at the Galleria."

  • "The seafood was great...the side dishes were not that great. (Mushrooms, new potatoes)"

  • "The food was great but the waiter was too slow. I went to occeaniarre for lunch and waited 20 min before my order was even taken. The waiter just kept disappearing....never go there for lunch during the week."

  • "The best crab cakes and seafood anywhere with the exception of the east coast. Oysters are great and all the seafood is fresh and delicious."

  • "My husband and I met at Oceanaire, just celebrated our first anniversary there and dined there many times in the last five years. Our recent visit was as far from our past experiences as could possibly be. Very disappointing from extremely unattentive service to mediocre food. Upon arrival, we were told 'Happy Anniversary' but not another mention of it throughout the evening. Our bill totaled in excess of $350.00, Had I been serving this celebratory meal, I would have certainly offered a glass of champagne or , at the least, a dessert to share. Little touches, here and there, make all the difference."

  • "Nice oyster choices. So-so escargot. Wife loved her big-eye tuna. Ditto me the cobia sashimi. Desserts were way below expectations. 6 oysters + 1 escargot + 2 entrees + 1 merlot + 1 espresso + 2 desserts = $300. Not my kind of math."

  • "The Oceanaire has the reputation as one of Dallas' best seafood restaurants. It is a great place to take a special client. The food this trip was good but perhaps not the "write home and brag" experience that I remember from a few years back. Still a nice overall experience and great atmosphere."

  • "excellent, had friends in from Geneva that wanted Seafood! They absolutely loved the dinner and service. Consistent no matter what city you are in"

  • "Service was awful. When we sat down told the waitress we needed to be finished in an hour and 45 minutes. She did not write down the order. First, instead of each of us getting an appetizer, only one came out to split. That was corrected and the food was excellent. We waited for 20 minutes after finishing the appetizers and no entrée or waitress. When we finally were able to fine her, we found out the entrée order had not been put in. She offered to put the order in or a free desert but by that time we would have been late and just asked for appetizers. They came but the waitress was no where to be seen. We waited 10 minutes and flag down busboy to ask for the manager in order to pay. Explained the story to him, he took care of the meal."

  • "Oceanaire is a true seafood restaurant. The crab cakes are as good as you can find outside of Baltimore. The menu is diverse with an excellent array of options. Our waitress was friendly and eager to please. It's a very nice evening out."

  • "Good wine selections by the glass, some very pricey, others moderate but well rounded. Excellent waitstaff. Knowledgeable about the wine and food. Good Landry restaurant. Not like a chain, just unique."

  • "The selection of appetizers, salads, entrees, and side dishes is outstanding as is the food itself. Our waiter ("WES") was just what you want: engaged, interested, knowledgeable, honest, helpful, and quick. The Black and Blue Trout and the Stuffed Sole were well worth what might be a high price. The side of Brussels Sprout leaves was imaginative albeit a bit rich. Bread was fresh. All in all very satisfactory and somewhat unusual in today's fast food mentality."

  • "Loved the ceviche, red snapper, salad and everything else! Even the house red wine was great!! I was so ready for seafood and it hit the spot!"

  • "Freshest fish, outstanding sides, expansive wine & cocktail menu, excellent service in the middle of Dallas! Once we walked through the doors of Oceanaire, the sounds of the big city disappeared. Visually, we were greeted by a huge oyster bar, soft lighting, a friendly face to guide us to a table. We were immediately greeted by our waitress, who quickly brought out fresh bread & cocktail menu. The fish menu is expansive. If you like any type of fresh seafood, this is your place. Oysters are flown in from many places in the northeast, each labeled for the real connoisseur. Redfish Louie and Mahi Mahi were outstanding. Fried asparagus and crabcakes, outstanding appetizers. Baked Alaska? indescribably delicious. We will be back for sure."

  • "It was our wedding anniversary so we wanted our dinner to be a special occasion. Oceanaire did not disappoint. We had been there three times before over an eight year period, each time for a special occasion. It is pricey; appetizers were $15 and the entrees $42; drinks were $11 each. wine, i.e. Jordan $175. Oysters Rockeffler were fresh, moist, tasty and served hot. Our Redfish Louie was divine, but the potatoes on which the entree was served were luke warm. Timing error, I'm sure, and since it was a joyous occasion, we didn't say a word to the waiter."

  • "Anniversary : Went here my anniversary, we arrived early and was seated. The staff was great and knew it was our anniversary. From the check we were told numerous times happy anniversary. They even had it printed on our personal menus! Dinner was awesome. My husband got fish and chips. It was light and great. I got stuffed shrimp . Omg! All our food was awesome. The valet gave us a free app coupon for calamari. That was the beginning of the meal. It was so delicious. The sauce I got drink it it was so good. I would go back again and again. From the staff, the food and everyone knowing it was a special occasion this is a great place to dine. Adults only though."

  • "We had a wonderful birthday at Oceannaire. The food was great and our server didn't rush us. Our only challenge was we were placed back by the kitchen where there were a few loud crashes of glasses."

  • "The Food was fantastic. Each of our party ordered something different, and everyone was very pleased. Our service was good, although a little rushed as they were very busy. But our waiter was very good in answering our questions about different dishes. I thought the noise level in the Restaurant was very loud. This surprised me. For having such wonderful food, and service, they have spoiled the ambience , by making the restaurant very open and noisy."

  • "I had set a reservation up for my sisters birthday and they made it a night to remember! Our server Carl was amazing! Some of the guest were unsure what they wanted to eat or drink but Carl was like I think this would be perfect for you and he didn't fail anyone! He had the best suggestions from cocktails wine and so on. This place above and beyond to make my sisters night a special night!"

  • "We had a birthday dinner here over the weekend and as usual Oceanaire didn't disappoint. The food is always outstanding as well as the service. We had our own menus printed with Happy Birthday and not only that our complimentary dessert was baked Alaska set on fire!! Really outstanding. Carl was our server and he was perfect. I have been to this restaurant many times and every waiter I have ever had there has been outstanding. Keep up the good work! Muffie Freas"
