  • "Although expensive, Oceanaire is well worth the money. Excellent seafood with several innovative preparations, but you can get tried and true dishes as well. The venue is very open, which can make it a lively environment, but the way they have done over this old bank makes in all the more interesting. If you are into raw oyster, clams, shrimp, etc. then you'll love it, especially if you set at the bar. Our waiter was excellent. And its nice to see the staff dressed in white coats. Gives everything that special feeling."

  • "The food was very good. The mussels were small and delicately flavoured. The crab cake was big and sumptuous! Chopped salad was prepared perfectly prepared with a super light vinegarette. I had the flounder Louis. It was very fresh and sweet. There were six of us at dinner and no one left any food behind. The au gratin potatoes are a must have. The spinach side dish was a bit on the stingy side but the mac and cheese more than made up for it. The Boston cream pie was a big hit at the table although they only had one! On Easter, really. The creme brûlée was not remarkable. Overall, the dinner was lovely and the service was great. "

  • "One of the nicest looking restaurant I've been, waiter was professional and nice. Highlight for us was the tuna poke. Easily one of the best appetizers they have. Portion for that was big so beware if you don't eat much. The way it was done, it was easily shared too. Would come again."

  • "Oceanaire is a beautiful restaurant with great service and very good food. The seafood selection is very extensive and they are willing to prepare your selection in a variety of ways to accommodate your requests. My husband especially enjoyed their black and blue sauce which I believe was a sauce of caramelized onions and bleu cheese. My son's sushi-grade tuna was prepared rare and was delicious. My flounder was topped with a plentiful serving of excellent fresh crab, but thicker than I expect flounder to be, making me question if it was really something else. All the dishes came with plenty of accompaniments; we ordered one extra side of spinach and it was more than enough for all of us. The cappuccino and creme brûlée were also good."

  • "I enjoyed the meal a lot. Once we were at our table, the service was great. The only problem I had was that I had made a reservation for 7:45. I arrived at about 7:40, and they told me they were running behind, and that my table would be ready in about 20 minutes. I realize that restaurants are somewhat at the whim of how long the patrons take to dine, but I feel that if I make a reservation more than 24 hour in advance, the table should be ready at the time it is made for. Other than that, I had a great dining experience."

  • "Great service, very friendly and helpful. Food and wine were delicious. One negative. If you are sitting in the center of the restaurant on a cool/cold/windy night, you will need to cover up each time the door opens. That means, 3 seasons of the year. The restaurant needs some kind of wind screen/shelter to protect the patrons from the cold. Had it not been for the cold coming in, the rating would have been higher."

  • "Went for dinner. No wait so easy fast seating. Staff was super. they were helpful and attentive. Food was just ok. For the prices I was expecting rock star quality! what I got was suburban flair. it was worth it once to go and see what people are talking about! Boston Creme dessert is not true boston creme anything. "

  • "Oceanaire Seafood Room was a great setting with its remodelled bank environment and large windows that allowed the guests to take in natural light and showed the food presenation in great light. Theseafood was prepared well adn at the right temperature. The service was good, but a bit slow at times when it got crowded at lucnh. However, when asked they sped up based on the need to get to a meeting."

  • "Located right down the street from Faneuil Hall. I went to the Oceanaire with a group of coworkers on a Tuesday night. We made a reservation for 7 people through Open table at 6:00 for a seating at 7:30. Food was great. I had the Salmon Oscar. TRY THE BACON STEAK as a side. They mixed up two of our table's orders and comped us a second side and dessert without us asking. Great service, great selection, great location"

  • "Date night with the wife was great. Excellent service and the food was phenomenal. Mussels were great. Alaskan king crab legs were outstanding Ann's topped off with a slice of heaven with the Boston cream pie... Great job guys, we thoroughly enjoyed our night from the moment we walked in to the time we rolled out... What a great looming restaurant too.... Thanks for a nice evening"

  • "My fiance and I were in town to celebrate his birthday. I made reservations online and under special requests noted that it was his birthday and asked if they could put a candle in his dessert. Well, Oceanaire went above and beyond that request. They seated us in a table back in the corner to give us more privacy and a view of the entire restaurant. They print the menus daily and had "Happy Birthday" printed on my fiance's menu (nice touch). We received excellent service and the food was amazing!!! Before we could even order dessert, the waitress brought us a Bombe Alaska on the house (similar to baked Alaska but has dark rum splashed over and the whole dessert is flambéed while being served). Perfect touch and a perfect evening."

  • "The whole experience was great. The food was delicious, the service excellent and the ambiance was elegant. The main dining room is very large, which at first seemed cavernous, but as people filled it up it did not become noisy or overwhelming. In fact ,with the attentiveness of the waitstaff, it became almost an intimate dining experience. We asked to be alerted to the time, as we were going to attend a show after dinner, and the waiter was very sure to keep us apprised of the hour, yet without our feeling rushed. The seafood menu is extensive and our meals were cooked to perfection. It was a perfect dining experience."

  • "I took clients for a 65th birthday lunch and they were treated as very special by our waiter. They were so pleased with how nice he was and how great the service. They had never been before and loved it. And our waiter was so kind to bring over a big piece of Baked Alaska for dessert and lit it on fire at our table. He made it a very special birthday for the husband and they couldn't say enough good things about him. Thank you Oceanaire and to our waiter. Not sure if I should mention his name on here. I will ask him next time I am in. You made it a special day."

  • "I went to the Oceanaire to celebrate my 25th birthday with my family. I used to live in Brickell and had been to the Miami location numerous times, all of which were amazingly pleasant experiences. However this past week at the Boston location I experienced the worst service I had ever received. It was very unexpected. The food was great but to be frank there are lots of delicious seafood restaurants in the New England area. The Oceanaire has lost my vote. I left unsatisfied. Let's just say I will visit Neptune or B&G when my next craving for oysters comes around."

  • "My niece Adrianne wanted to take us out for her Mom's birthday. I, Aunti Nancy was the one who decided on your place. Great choice we are all seafood lovers from Boston so it was just the right spot. Everyone loved the food. Our waiter Jeff was excellent. However my scallops were overcooked but I didn't want to make a fuss. Next time I'll get what the chef recommends. I shouldn't get things I cook well so. However I will go back again and again! Oh and nice touch with the birthday cake for my big sister."

The Oceanaire proved to do just that and really surpassed the expectations of my boyfriend and I.   • "Fixed price menu for Restaurant Week. The calamari app was terrific. Rings and tentacles nicely breaded And fried. Spicy peppers and sauce were a tasty addition. The clam chowder was just okay. It wasn't hot enough or flavorful enough for me. The stuffed shrimp were tasty though the stuffing got very wet from the linguini. Very nice room right by City Hall and financial district."

The bacon cheese potatoes were totally great and the brocollini and tomatoes were steamed and nicely presented. The service was generally good, though we had to ask twice for a couple things (more bread). The creme brûlée was exceptional."

  • "On Friday, I dined at Oceanaire with my friends and the food was absolutely sublime. The sour cream mashed potatoes and the bread are literally to die for! I have dined at Oceanaire many times with my family and each I go, the food and service is great. This time however, I was a little apprehensive about the service when I went with my friends. Coming with an intense appetite, my friends and I ordered a lot of food and the waiter was really hesitant in giving it all to us, when we finished it all however, we showed him. Also, I have never had a problem with a hostess, but when I went to hand in my coat check, the hostess pushed the tip jar in my face which was quite rude. Overall, I would say go to this place for the food and scene only."

  • "I used to go a lot and love this restaurant until today March28,2014 . The food was awful I got the shrimp crab stuffing, my co-worker had the burger that was overcooked, dried and tasteless. I catch the server putting his hand on his nose then on his mouth(Nasty) and I look on the table next to me he had his clothe over the person's food. I was seating on the top next to the stairs. Never again."

  • "My mother and I had dinner here during the last Boston restaurant week. They had a great 3 course menu set up for Boston Dine Out this time around so we decided to go back. My only complaint is that while we were eating dinner there was a table across from us that clearly had had a small child eating at it. No one came to clean up the mess of food all over the floor or the table during our entire dinner.... I know it was getting later in the night but it was just poor presentation. Other than that it was great. The food was good and our server was so fun!"

  • "I loved the ambience however, our waiter totally forgot about us at one point. (For a good 30mins we say there just looking all the waiters, walking by our table, some leaving their shift, as we continue to wait for our dessert) The wait time to get served was unbelievable (from the cocktails to dessert), I ended up asking the waiter if he forgot that He had us, he apologized offered us some cookies to make up for the wait. Don't think I'll return or recommend"
