Diner Reviews
  • "We always enjoy our meals at Oceanaire. We had the prefixe which was a good deal. The only complaint I had this time was that the bus boy was overly anxious to clear the table. I had to tell him several times that we were still eating and at the end of the meal he had taken my knife away before I was done spreading butter on my bread. Otherwise, we had an enjoyable evening and our waiter was very attentive."

  • "Food was very good although my steak was overlooked. Otherwise excellent meal and outstanding service. Would go again, on the pricey side but worth it for special occasion"

  • "The server (older gentleman, may have been named Larry) was the worst part of this experience. The restaurant was sparsely populated on a Sunday night yet they sat us next to a large party. We asked to move. Then the server misinterpreted our request for glasses of wine to be a bottle (for $88) and when we said no a glass, he was condescending. The menu is confusing in that it lists the year of vintage then the bottle price, but with a 12, for example, it looked like the per glass price. It also seemed as though he was judging us because we ordered several appetizers as entrees. The bill came to over $100 so I am not sure why he would have acted like we were cheap customers. The food was good, especially the seafood tower appetizer."

  • "I took my boyfriend, who is in the military, there for a welcome home/anniversary celebration. The food was delicious! I had shrimp and grits, my boyfriend had the crabcakes, and for sides we had lobster risotto. He had the cheesecake and loved it as well. It was all really really good! Our server Tony was just a great!"

  • "My wife and I were celebrating our wedding anniversary. We were dressed for the occasion. The food was great, the ambiance was great, the service was horrible. We were celebrating our anniversary so we wanted to be seated in a quiet area. They seated a party of 3 next to us. To top it off our waiter comes over to our table to get our empty plate and notices that is still one shrimp left on our plate. So then he proceeds to tell us that we had one "skrimp" left. Then asks us when we tip can we tip him cash so he can catch a cab home. We were deeply humiliated. This type of experience was completely unexpected for the amount of money this restaurant charges per plate."

  • "Wine selections by the glass were limited and the "fish flown in daily" was not readily available. The"fish flown in daily" as advertised did not match the available performance."

  • "Outstanding choice for our special occasion. Surf (salmon, scallops and stuffed shrimp), Turf (filet mignon), evoked pleasurable response throughout. Staff attentive in all aspects of service, never rushed."

  • "Food was very good. Australian Barramundi was terrific. Wine list is excellent too. The staff made my wife's birthday dinner exceptional. Highly recommend if you are looking for fresh seafood. Don't miss the Baked Alaska for dessert."

  • "Excellent service from Michael who took great care of us! The whole staff treated us wonderful. This was a surprise dinner for my girlfriends birthday but the surprise was for me as well. The surprise of "Happy Birthday" on our menu and dessert at no extra cost blows me away. We felt as if everyone cared about this day. Attention to detail will never be forgotten!! Thank You for a memorable experience!!!!"

  • "While visiting Baltimore, the Oceanaire is a "must" ... The food was excellent and the service was truly outstanding!! Our waitstaff was perfectly attentive and more than knowledgeable :-) They even allowed us to pause dinner long enough to view the Fourth of July fireworks display, while keeping our food warm so we could immediately resume a quiet dinner for 2 once the holiday festivities were over :-) Simply Perfect!!"

  • "In a place this expensive you expect delicious flavor but you won't get that here"

  • "I haven't been to the Oceanaire in 7 years, but I remember the food and service being better. The quality and taste of the food for the price could be better and the service was average, I felt we could have got superb service with same or better tasting food at a cheaper, chain style restaurant. I would go back however in a year or so to see if this experience was a fluke and maybe they will bring back the quality I remembered 7 years ago."

  • "My friend and I had a craving for seafood and decided on the Oceanaire. The waiter Steve Hubert was absolutely awesome. He was very honest about the menu and made great selections for our dinner. I had shrimp and grits and my friend had crab cake and scallops and the food was delicious! Steve also recommended a spinach salad for us to share and it was awesome. It was a wonderful night with great food and great service. We decided when we do return, we would like Steve to be our server!"

  • "Considering the pricing of the restaurant I expected a bit more...from the food, the service, etc. It was good but good was not what I expected. I wanted great based on the reviews I heard from friends and this particular night just did not produce great. The waiter was pleasant and the food was good overall. I'd say go and see for yourself like I did, you may have a phenomenal encounter!"

  • "Competing for seafood diners in Baltimore's Inner Harbor is a challenge, but one that Oceanaire meets well. The menu includes a raw bar with a good variety of East Coast oysters. They also offer a range of local and not-so-local fresh fish, which you can order grilled or prepared in more creative ways. For dessert, order key-lime pie, but split a slice as the serving is both generous and tasty. We found the service a bit overattentive, but not enough to spoil the meal."

  • "Service was great food was fair. Shrimp and scallops where over cooked."

  • "We wanted to try Oceanaire for some time. We went with another couple for dinner and our experience was less than spectacular. The restaurant had an old seafood/steakhouse feel which would have been great if the food and service were exceptional. Our server was scripted in his approach and his appearance was not what we would expect from a high end restaurant; he made an error in our food order and was aloof. As for the food, our "appetizer" of a salmon roll was nothing more than rice with a hint of seafood taste. The dishes we ordered were not very hot despite the long wait time. As far as price point and overall experience, there are many other options in Harbor East that have superior service and food."

  • "Food was good albeit expensive. Service was a bit disjointed. Started bringing entrees in front of appetizers-and forgot one appetizer all together!! Waiters were friendly but they seemed short of people?? It appeared to be more of a Tourist trap. The quality of the food was good but did not justify the high prices. Our waiter did offer to comp desserts for us for the mix up. It wasn't for his lack of trying!"

  • "The decor here is nice... dark, but not too dark, big fish as wall art, but not too kitschy. The service was decent, but there were times we couldn't see our waiter when we wanted him. My crab cakes were good, but not great. They needed more seasoning. They weren't bready, but they weren't crispy on the outside. Decent sized portions, but the entres don't come with anything else on the plate. All the sides are a la carte. Our side of asparagus was enough for two, nicely cooked and completely without butter, lemon or seasonings. Side order of broccoli cost $8.00 and was enough for four people. Prices here are very high, and I don't think they justify what you get. Over all, I'd have to say "meh" to this place."

  • "Been here before and it still is outstanding. Menu(particularly the seafood aspect) has excellent selections, well prepared and the chef is very flexible. My wife wanted a couple of items combined and they took care of it like they do this all the time. My Shrimp were well prepared. The service was excellent as the person knew the menu well and had eaten some of the items so could give us his taste thoughts. Wine list fit with the food offerings well. Overall I really enjoyed my time there and my wife did also.."

  • "We enjoyed our recent dinner at the Oceanaire restaurant. We ordered fish, there were lots of choices, and it was very very good. The service was also very good. Large portions made great left overs to take home. For those who like, valet parking is available as are on-line reservations."

  • "The appetizers, entrees, and desserts where immaculately well prepared and a gastronomical delight. Terrific wine selections! Everyone in our part of 10 people loved this restaurant and everyone wants to go back. Our waiter was a not notch individual and was always attentive to details and ensuring that we had everything perfect. I recommend this restaurant to anyone who visits Baltimore."

  • "We visited the Oceanaire Seafood Room - Baltimore on a Saturday evening around 7pm, was escorted to a seat all the way in the back of a corner near the wait staff. We were leery; however, it was a blessing in disguise. We were very happy with the attentive service. Our server was awesome! He spent extra time walking us through the impressive menu and making our dining experience memorable. Our food was outstanding. Overall it was expensive, good ambiance and fresh food. "

  • "The prices don't match the food at all the appetizers were way better then the entrees if I order "stuffed jumbo shrimp " I don't expect filler in the crab meat for $32. Drinks were good and the service was good but other then that they'll never see me again"

  • "Food-excellent. Service-wonderful, a great example for others. Had the Alaskan crab - succulent and the removal from the shell, a nice touch. Hubby had the lobster and loved it. Also, delicious was the king crab spring rolls - clearly chef getting creative. Yummy!"

  • "I haven't been here for about 2 years now and I am happy to report that this restaurant is still great. We went there with my wife. We had great service, oysters, martini, all perfect. The size of portions is very small, which of course is good for your waste lines, but if you are really hungry, you might need multiple appetizers (which are great) and/or share multiple main course items. The only thing that wasn't small was the chocolate caramel cake for 2, which was so big we both ate big time and still took a sizable portion home! The only criticism I have is that they had 5 puttonyos Tokaji aszu on the dessert menu, yet, the waitress had no clue (wouldn't even recognize when I said it - had to show on the menu) & they didn't have it :("

  • "For an elegant fish dinner, Oceanaire is a "sure thing." We don't eat shellfish and there are always multiple "fin" fish options, prepared creatively, from which we can choose. The crudite's served before the meal are an enticing alternative to the delicious bread for diners who require a gluten-free diet. Portions are ample. But when we save room for dessert, we are never disappointed."

  • "I normally don't rave about "corp" owner restaurants, but the Oceanaire is consistently wonderful beyond words. The wait staff is professional, friendly and the excel at table service. Our meals are always perfect, delicious and perfectly portioned. The menu items are never underwhelming, and they adjust beautifully with the seasons."

  • "My wife and I went to Oceanaire for dinner to celebrate her birthday. Valet parking was easy, we were greeted warmly and seated promptly in a really neat spot. The waiter, Ian, was superb throughout. Our meals (Columbia River Salmon for her and Maine Scallops for me) were delicious and more than enough to satisfy our appetites. After dinner, Oceanaire provided their signiature Baked Alaska as a treat for the birthday celebrant. It was tasty with a cherry ice cream center. Yum. Our car was retrieved quickly. And all in all it was a wonderful experience."
