The food was superb from start to finish. We were so full we had no room for dessert, but next time we'll pace ourselves so we can try one or two. The cocktails were outstanding, and the service exemplary right down to the gentleman filling water glasses. The 4 of us each ordered something different after sharing oysters (delectable) and crab cakes. Each of us were certain we had the best entree', so we all shared to compare. All 4 were spectacular:lobster, beef, tuna, scallops! You can not go wrong. We had great service from Patrick who was very knowledgable about the menu and definitely got our taste buds in the mood. Generous portion size ; I had the tuna fois gras with a side of broccoli and spinach. They also catered for children with a decent "young adult" menu. The only downside, and I'm probably just nit-picking here, was a slightly salty side dish which the manager immediately took care of and didn't charge for it. Greeted at the hostess station with two free flutes of champagne. Great table in the upstairs dining/bar area next to second floor windows overlooking Larimer Square. Paul was a superb waiter/host and we never wanted for attention without the overbearing demeanor found in restaurants of this higher caliber type of establishment. Ask for a window table in Paul's section. The windows really do open and in warm weather, it is a great way to include the lively Larimer Square bustle and people watching without the auto fumes and jostle of street level. The Ahi Tuna Tartar and Goat Cheese Ravioli are perfect starters and enough to share. The Alaskan Halibut special was perfection and the scallops were the absolute best in the Midwest in my opinion. The extensive wine list leaves little to be desired, offering both affordable choices and wines for the distinctive pallet. The wait-staff were helpful and patient and our meals were served timely and with graciousness. The bar-staff is exceptionally knowledgeable and suggest perfect compliments to the overall experience. I recommend this restaurant and suggested it to many during our stay in Denver. We were "upgraded" to the 4-top table (more room) with a better (unobstructed) view of Larimer Street passers-by. We ordered the fondue for an appetizer, which was okay. I had the filet mignon but my wife really had her heart set on brussel sprouts which weren't on the menu. The chef called around to 4 restaurants in the area until he could find some. He prepared them with a little bacon and sauteed them in olive oil (per my wife's request). The ONLY thing that the chef did that was not requested was to add bread crumbs to the dish. From the moment we arrived they treated us exceptionally well, offering us complementary Champagne and taking excellent care of us.
Our food was amazing and the service was awesome. The veranda is a great place to sit and enjoy the downtown scene below. There's nothing about Ocean Prime that didn't work for me. But be prepared, the price is as high as any you'll find in Denver or San Francisco.
If you don't mind paying top dollar you'll get to enjoy some of the best food and service in Denver. I can't see myself going here often, mostly for special occasions, but I've eaten in restaurants all over the U.S. (I've been in 48 of the 50 states) and I've never had a steak that good.5/16/2013 12:00:00 AMExcellent food and service!!We went to Ocean Prime for our 31st anniversary dinner and were treated like royalty! The hostess greeted us with two glasses of champagne and wished us a Happy Anniversary. We then had the tuna tartare with avocado that was declicious. My husband ordered the filet with potatoes au gratin with jalapenos - both were excellent, the potatoes were not too spicy, just the right amount! I ordered the halibut special and it was cooked to perfection. We then received a complimentary creme brulee to finish off our excellent meal - it was absolute heaven! We travelled into downtown Denver for a special Mother's Day lunch, with the idea of trying a restaurant we hadn't been to before. Ocean Prime lived up to the reviews we had read and was a great place for such a special occasion. Service was maybe over done with a lot of staff moving throughout the setting area. Noise level started low but as can be expected, with more people coming in, so did the noise level. The wine list was a little pricey.

We explained about the snowstorm and were quite surprised when he brought a delicious baked Alaska with, "Happy Anniversary" written in chocolate syrup on the plate.
