For a mid-day drink, I recommend the bloody mary - perfect amount of spice and great flavor. Although it was super crowded, jam packed and a little noisy this restaurant was superb. From the moment we walked in the door the staff was extremely helpful and assisted me in getting my little 6 month old in and settled (stroller, high chair, stairs). The food was amazing from the shellfish tower to the lobster popover. Everyone in my family was highly satisfied with their meal. We gave the sushi a try (which I am not a seafood person at all) and LOVED it. The waitress made a wonderful recommendation for us, the lobster roll, knowing that I did not really enjoy the texture of seafood and was not that crazy about idea of raw fish. My mother had eggs benedict, which she said was delicious! I ordered the cheeseburger and I think is the is only restaurant that has brought out a burger cooked the way I asked for it!

We had a nice Sancerre. It was a good choice fo our friends from Atlanta who wanted seafood. The one thing that I do NOT like about it is that it has become a place where people with very young children come whereas in the past, many years ago, that wasn't the case. Children can be unruly and it does affect diners sitting nearby. I know NYC restaurants can't say "no children" but I would encourage places like Ocean Grill to "highly recommend" that children under 5 years of age be kept at home. That being said, I know NYC has also become a much more family friendly place to live. I had the fixed price menu and selected the lobster bisque, fish & chips, and creme brulee and all were delicious. My husband ordered a half dozen littlenecks to start and they were so fresh and perfect he immediately ordered another half dozen. He moved onto the striped bass with goat cheese gnocci which he felt lacked some flavor. We were treated to shots of roasted tomato soup before our dinner and muffins to take home for breakfast the next day at the end of our meal.

I had the pleasure to visit Ocean Grill on Columbus Ave at 78th Street, and the experience was very memorable. You are greeted at the entrance, your reservation is found on the spot, walked to your table and then you are ready to enjoy your dinner. The service is A+, my waitress was Christine and she went the extra mile to make feel welcome. She is very knowledgeable of the menu, and her suggestions were right on point.

I always have a great time there so I thought I'd check out Ocean Grill as a change of pace. I felt just like I was at Atlantic Grill which turned out to be a good thing. Their seafood tower was just as fresh and delicious as was my entire seafood dinner. Tables are a little cramped, but no worse than most places in Manhattan. They have a very diverse and reasonably priced wine list.
