They never came by to check on our food, they continually gave us the wrong dishes and they never took away used glasses. However, this time, although the food and service were good, they couldn't seem to regulate the air conditioning. It was a cold and rainy night for May, but they had the air on. We asked them to lower it quite a few times, and although they did, it would go back on 10 minutes later. We did notice quite a few other diners asked them to lower it too. There were quite a few diners having to eat with their jackets and sweaters on. The only "issue" was the noise level, which was very high (we dined at 20.00 on a Saturday) and it was difficult to have a conversation (especially since I'm a little hard of hearing). I had asked to sit in an area with the lowest noise level and they placed us near the bar, which wasn't the best, but there were no other tables available. Although it was super crowded, jam packed and a little noisy this restaurant was superb. From the moment we walked in the door the staff was extremely helpful and assisted me in getting my little 6 month old in and settled (stroller, high chair, stairs). The food was amazing from the shellfish tower to the lobster popover. Everyone in my family was highly satisfied with their meal. We gave the sushi a try (which I am not a seafood person at all) and LOVED it. The waitress made a wonderful recommendation for us, the lobster roll, knowing that I did not really enjoy the texture of seafood and was not that crazy about idea of raw fish. My mother had eggs benedict, which she said was delicious! I ordered the cheeseburger and I think is the is only restaurant that has brought out a burger cooked the way I asked for it!

We had a nice Sancerre. It was a good choice fo our friends from Atlanta who wanted seafood. The one thing that I do NOT like about it is that it has become a place where people with very young children come whereas in the past, many years ago, that wasn't the case. Children can be unruly and it does affect diners sitting nearby. I know NYC restaurants can't say "no children" but I would encourage places like Ocean Grill to "highly recommend" that children under 5 years of age be kept at home. That being said, I know NYC has also become a much more family friendly place to live. I had the fixed price menu and selected the lobster bisque, fish & chips, and creme brulee and all were delicious. My husband ordered a half dozen littlenecks to start and they were so fresh and perfect he immediately ordered another half dozen. He moved onto the striped bass with goat cheese gnocci which he felt lacked some flavor. We were treated to shots of roasted tomato soup before our dinner and muffins to take home for breakfast the next day at the end of our meal.
