Diner Reviews
  • "Two Monkfish specials were average at best, Quail appetizer was not good, two fish of the day off an alternative menu were not served correctly (rice instead of mashed potatoes and veggies, veggies was corrected. Waiter seemed confused. Bill was not correct when presented. We have heard many good things about them, so it was an off night at best. Also, since they are a pricier alternative at OBX they should not have this sort of problem. "

  • "Ocean Blvd is a must for great, fresh food on the outer banks. If you are gluten free and or vegetarian, this is your place."

  • "This place is one of the few games in town with the chance of high quality food mixed with great atmosphere and great service. Although we enjoyed our dinning experience, our food was under seasoned and the service was average. I'd still recommend giving this place a try if you are in town. Expect to pay 5 to 10 dollars more per plate than worth."

  • "Food was good but not great. The last couple of times I have been there the food has not been up to their usual superb standards. All four of our fish entres were overcooked. The sauces were nice. Deserts were okay. I am disappointed that OB is not giving us their best efforts."

  • "This is my favorite spot on OBX and they outdid themselves last Friday night! The food is gourmet AND plentiful portions - hard to find sometimes! Music on Friday nights so they stay open late. Fun scene and great food!!! The folks there are fantastic- owner and wait staff were very friendly. Great place - GO!"

  • "Excellent service as always. Food (I had the tuna, My wife had the shellfish topped with a sword fish medallion) was superb with a nice little spicey kick with the accompanying potatoe/ veggie hash.Wonderful reasonably priced wine and great view. What else do you need ?"

  • "It was good, dont get me wrong, just sitting in an upstairs room that is 14x14 with 3 other couples was a bit odd. I bet if we at downstairs it would have felt a lot different. Just felt like we were eating good food at somebody's house around the corners. The food was very good, but we can go to Blue Point and get a better scene, atmosphere, view and food. Just my .02"

  • "This was our first time dining at Ocean Boulevard & what a gem we found. The ambience was perfect with views of the natural sand dunes, the dim lighting & the quiet dining room. They have an extensive wine & beer list along with some great Martini cocktails! The Chef's dishes that were prepared for us were delectable, from the Spicy Chicken Potstickers, the Seven Lettuce Salad, the Grilled New York Strip & the Chef's Flounder Special of the night. Just fantastic! We splurged and got the Chocolate Gateau for dessert and they wrote a special note on the plate in chocolate. We couldn't have asked for a more perfect setting to celebrate our 13th Wedding Anniversary. Thank you to all the Ocean Boulevard staff for making our night so special."

  • "Always fun here and food is excellent. Service is impeccible. Always prefer that restaurant NOT have fixed price menus for special occasions, although we understand the reasoning behind that. Much prefer to choose from the full, wonderful menu."

  • "Our server was very professional, his timing was good, he knew the menu, and was able to convey to the bartender special requirements. The food selection was interesting and preparation was wonderful. We had a desert item for the first time and it was excellent (almond flavored cheese cake)."

  • "We travel to OBX five or six times a year and always make sure to eat at Ocean Blvd. This trip delighted again. Food was prepared with a real knowledge of mixing local ingredients and making the dish come out perfect. I had skate, a very mild, flakey white fish - first time I've ever heard of it on a menu and it was excellent."

  • "I travel for business a lot and when i'm in the Outer Banks I go to Ocean Blvd. The American fusion is innovative and tasty. For this trip, I had the Quail in BBQ sauce to start off the meal. Next, I ordered the bean chili with turkey garnish and my entrée was the 14 oz pork chop. Although not many wine glasses selections, the French Rose, Tram Zinfandel were excellent. The service was first class. Dennis at the bar, is the best at taking care of the customer. My meal came to $100, including taxes and tip"

  • "This place never misses! My wife and I are regular visitors and always have a great meal and a wonderful time. Their seafood dishes are incredible! On this occasion I tried the special, monkfish with smoke bay scallops and calamari. It was wonderful! My wife tried the steelhead special served with winter vegetables. Superb!! The menu changes with the seasons and the specials are always inventive. We are OBX locals, and this is a regular stop for us."

  • "The food and drinks are superb. Best Southern Comfort manhattan ever. I tried one of the evening specials - catfish, shriimp, and ham on a bed of potatoes. Everything was fresh and cooked to perfection. My partner had the pork loin chop and it was equally delicious. We split a warm pear salad which was fresh and crisp and the pear was an excellent texture. This is one of the best restaurants on the Outer Banks. The service is friendly and professional. Don't miss a chance to visit this restaurant."

  • "We first went to Ocean Boulevard Bistro in July 2013 and it was superb. My husband and I took our granddaughter and her best friend, and we all traded dishes so we could taste everything. Each dish was delicious. Most recently my husband and I went for his birthday, and our experience was equally wonderful. I ordered the simple duck meal, and it was anything but simple. The duck was succulent and tender. My husband ordered the flounder special, and he was not disappointed. The wine list offers anything you could want, and they don't mark up their prices to ridiculous levels. This is a high quality restaurant with knowledgeable staff and reasonable prices. What more could you want? This will be our go-to every time we are in the Outer Banks."

  • "We very much enjoyed our Thanksgiving dinner there. Our only complaint was the amount of pepper - both spicy and white/black ground - used especially since it wasn't listed on the menus. Otherwise, the food was very fresh and the flavors were well combined to make a unique dining experience. We would return to the restaurant."

  • "We decided to do something different this year and drove down to the Outer Banks from Virginia Beach on Thanksgiving afternoon, checked into a hotel, watched some football and then had dinner at Ocean Boulevard, which has been our favorite dining destination for years whenever we visit the area. What a great decision this was for us! It was difficult to choose from the selection of four courses offered on the Thanksgiving menu but everything we had was excellent. Although the restaurant was filled to capacity with happy sounding diners, our server, Heather, provided top notch service. If you are looking for a special dining experience with a sophisticated menu, professional staff and appreciative owners, go to Ocean Boulevard!"

  • "Had a very nice experience at the restaurant overall. My husband's she crab soup was delicious, but my Cesar salad had too much anchovy for my taste. The drum fish special was very good, according to my husband. But my New York strip steak was not seasoned at all and was very chewy. The apple cider sorbet for dessert was excellent, Service was very good and quick."

  • "This was the second time at Ocean Blvd Bistro. On the first visit the appetizer and dessert were far better than entree. The martinis both times were great and the wine list is nice. I decided to try again hoping the entree would be as good as other courses. Again I was disappointed in the entree and I did order something different than the first time. The appetizer and the dessert the second time was again, great. So... if I go back it will be for drinks, appetizers and dessert only. My husband went with me the first time and my mother went the second, both of them agree that the entrees they received were not good but everything else was very good. I will not go for a full dinner again."

  • "Great meal for $35.00! We started with mussels in delicate wine/garlic sauce into which we could dip the fantastic French bread baked on-site. The strip steak with a sinfully delicious twice baked potato was next. Last but not least was maple cream brûlée, also delicious. We arrived before the restaurant opened but they opened the doors early so we seniors could come in and sit down."

  • "We like Ocean Blvd and went to try the Rest Week menu. Greeting was warm, server Greg was excellent. I tried the mussels and they were ok.. Jane's 7 lettuce salad was very good. My steak was cooked as ordered but was not hot when served and the plate was not warm. Jane had the drum with NC sausage and veggies. It was good. Bread was excellent! Deserts were outstanding and the stars of the meal, maple creme brulee and pumpkin ice cream with molasses cookie!!! yum."
