  • "We really were excited to try this beautiful restaurant. Everyone at the table mentioned that our food was overly salty. The atmosphere was beautiful but the service was also slow. At times we didn't see our server for 20-30 minutes. We are not sure if the area tends to me more laid back because it seemed another restaurant we visited the next day took 20 minutes to place our order."

  • "Having stayed at the hotel as a guest many times i booked a table at Ocean & Vine to show my partner one of my favourite spots to have dinner within view of the pier. Food was great, drinks also very nice. Unfortunately the waiter was condescending and rude. Very much an attitude of "you don't belong here" towards us which i find very offensive. Big song and dance made of ID'ing us for drinks, which is fine to do but a bit of professionalism is required. To put it in perspective we are in our late 20s, and as Brits this concept is bizarre to us to be carded at our age as it is without him making a show of us in front of the whole of the restaurant. No guidance on food choices either- ended up with WAY too much, Overall disappointing."

  • "Overall dining was good. Server was friendly and helpful, Julio. We had the oyster appetizer. New it was going to be cooked but you had so much veggie on top of the oyster, you could not taste the oyster very well. Plus they give you condiments as if you were having just oysters. Pork chop was excellent according to my husband. The local sea bass was okay. Not much flavor and it was cooked a tad too much for my liking. Risotto not creamy. Had the banana split for dessert,was good. Berries were fresh. Here is the really disappointing part, you could not see the ocean except what was beyond a tower out the window. I guess you needed to eat on the patio to get the good view. That was one of the main reasons we picked this place."

  • "Hi We Recently Dined At Ocean and Vine Restaurant Last Saturday, The Restaurant Was Not Very Busy . For Some Reason Our Service Was Greatly Delayed In Service Of Both Drinks And Food We Have Been Going To Ocean And Vine For Sometime . I Believe Our Server Was Overwhelmed Since We Had To Wait A Long Time Between Each Course Including Drinks We May Not Go As Often As Before. Food Was Fine But Not As Great As It Was Before . Thank You"

  • "Ocean & Vine has an ideal location overlooking Santa Monica Pier and the menu is good. It is great to go for the ambiance. This would be a 4 or 5 star review if their service was better. Servers are nice but incredibly slow, and with only 3 tables full on a Saturday night, it made no sense why (a) the hostess made us wait 10 minutes for our table despite the reservation on Open Table (even though 75% of the tables were available the moment we walked in on time) and (b) food took so long to arrive. If it was a busy night would excuse it, but it wasn't, and it makes me wonder if they make people wait just to appear trendy. Food is good, ambiance is excellent. If they only improved their service they would do better."

  • "This was a very pleasant experience. We had out of town guests in and chose this as a central location to meet for lunch. The food and service was amazing. We booked the reservation on line and everything went off without a hitch. It is also great that the parking is a flat fee as it made it great for everyone."

  • "Corn Chowder sample was delish. Highly recommend Butternut Squash salad. Vodka Martini very tasty, chicken cooked to perfection, fingerling potatoes yummy. The entire meal was very good and ambiance very nice."

  • "I think the service although attentive was not up to par for a fine restaurant. The restaurant was not busy and there was no need to rush the service. We finished our appetizer and as we put down our forks they placed the entrée if front of us and removed the plates from the appetizer. Any fine restaurant would give you more time."

  • "The restaurant was very nice and with fireplaces that small groups can sit around. My party and I thought the food was okay but wasn't super delicious (the risotto was too cheesy and besides that not very flavorful). I really liked the waffle sundae. The website showed an amazing night view but when we went there for dinner it was a disappointment. The reason I gave the restaurant an overall rating of 4 stars is because the service we received was exceptional. We had a last minute increase in our party and the restaurant was able to accommodate. Someone in our party was on crutches so the host put in an extra chair for her to elevate it and gave her a blanket to put over her leg. The waiter was very attentive and checked on us frequently."

  • "...but a terrific lunch nonetheless. The two salads I had, albacore Nicoise and spinach/scallop, were delicious and well presented. The apple desert was also very good. I understand there is no "chef" in the kitchen right now, but whoever is in charge is doing a wonderful job of filling in. Unfortunately, there was too much fog and too few patrons, but we three ladies had a very nice time, and the wait staff was terrific and very friendly. I definitely will go back, on a hopefully sunnier day."

  • "The service was ridiculously over the top. The waiter kept waving his hands over the table as if he were a magician. It became quiet annoying. Forget all the ladidah, just be real. Don't just drop off the food and hide. Check and see if everything is really OK and don't wave your hands around as if by doing so you can magically make the food taste better. Sadly the Calamari was so overdone and over breaded that you couldn't tell what you were eating. The Seafood salad offered One scallop and One shrimp...Didn't look at the price, but I'm sure it wasn't cheap. The Sushi roll was cut into huge bites which made it impossible to eat unless you tore the whole thing apart."

  • "I live in the neighborhood but never thought of going here for lunch until I got a deal on Blackboard Eats...I am so happy to have spent a few hours with a very good friend on the outdoor patio where the weather was perfect, very good food and the server was charming. I will go without a discount next time and be just as pleased!"

  • "The seafood chili appetizer was outstanding as were all the fish entrees, although the crab cakes were meager, tasteless and disappointing. The service was good and then at the end of the meal it faltered. But the manager, Mario was quite professional and made sure we all received our coffees and dessert. However, the restaurant itself is not conducive to a warm, cozy evening. The outside patio did not have enough heaters and was drafty, but the interior was almost as cold. It is not a restaurant conducive to lingering and chatting. The space is too large. It definitely needs to be revamped by a creative decorator! We will not return because of the unfriendly, cold ambience. Check out One Pico or Catch at Casa Del Mar and get some ideas! ."

  • "Service and atmosphere were good here, however the food was not good at all - and it was extremely expensive considering the food quality. We started with a sushi appetizer which turned out to be the best thing we got - nothing special but decent. The vegetables in the burrata salad did not taste fresh. The scallop dish which was $36 was overcooked and had some kind of vinegar sauce on the vegetable that spread into the potatoes and scallops which made the entire dish taste strange. Then the special (red wine risotto with short ribs) that the server raved about was mushy and tasteless. I don't mind paying for an expensive meal if the food is delicious but unfortunately the food here is mediocre at best. Would not recommend!"

  • "The food was uneven, very expensive. My friend ordered filet and twice it wasn't cooked right. Another had swordfish and it was a tiny piece served with three asparagus, very plain, and boring. Thank goodness for the view of the Santa Monica Pier. The noise level was low because only 5 tables were full."

  • "Soup and salad were very interesting, flavorful, and seasonal. But the turkey arrived tepid and piled atop mashed potatoes and grilled asparagus. Also on the plate was a cube of fairly bland squash pudding. We asked for all white meat turkey but when the plates arrived, there was also dark meat on them--like all the others. Our waiter did bring us additional white meat, though. The "giblet" gravy was whitish in color, cold, congealed, and flavorless. Clearly, the plates had languished too long on the counter. A small cranberry aspic seasoned with cinnamon rounded out the plate. Although the turkey was flavorful and moist, there was no traditional stuffing of any kind. We considered that to be a travesty for a Thanksgiving dinner."

  • "Dining here early is very nice. The main dining room at the classy hotel is quieter. Service is excellent and the food is delicious tho a bit pricey as usual in a hotel. It is fun to walk through the lobby to the restaurant in the rear. There is a very full screen of the beach happenings over the reception desk."

  • "The view, the setting, the food, the service -- all wonderful! We opted for outdoor seating, which was just beeautiful; and ordered our waiter's two top recommendations: the Santa Monica Chili, and the Fish Tacos. Both brilliant!! Corkage fee is at the higher end ($25) but we chose it anyway. It was not crowded at lunch, so, we lingered happily unrushed for an hour and a half, sipping our wine and watching the waves. Good times!"
