The entire dining process was smooth, from start to finish and the food was amazing! We ordered the grouper, salmon and trigger fish and all were fresh, properly cooked and served with delicious sides (the poblano whipped potatoes were to die for). We ordered 4 different salads and they were all delicious as well (Goddess, Wedge, Caprese and Ceasar). The fresh bread (obviously made from scratch) was heavenly with fresh herbs and served with olive oil for dipping. We also sampled the roasted brussel sprouts appetizer which was a culinary feast on it's own. Words can't describe this magic gem! We were celebrating my wife's birthday & they surprised her with a complimentary dessert, nice touch. Our favorites were the Brussels sprouts with carnitas & the sun dried tomato and bacon Caesar salad. This was a menu that included a ton of attractive choices. They had also had 1/2 off a variety of cocktails through 7:30pm and were promot to inform us. The only thing that puzzled me was the choice for the reservation was really early 600ish pm. When we got there only one other table was seated. The place was empty. Would of liked a late time. The only drawback that I have for ocean 60 was the flounder dish. The dish was good fish dish but the fish that was served was not flounder. It was grouper and we had to call this to the attention of the waiter(who did a very good job for us). She had to go back to the kitchen and varify the fish was indeed grouper and not flounder, like it said on the menu. I would of liked to have been told that they were out of flounder instead of serving me another fish that I really do not care for. Others in our party are serious foodies and Ocean 60 passed muster- they said they would come back in a minute.
We placed our reservation via OpenTable. This was a good and bad thing. Good, because it was convenient. Bad, because I don't think the restaurant management staff checked it, received their fax or whatever OpenTable does to sync with actual restaurant availability. It turned out that although our reservation was accepted, the restaurant was 100% booked for a private party that night. We were accommodated outside with a nice table and the server worked hard for us. In January we had stopped here with some friends on the way to Port Canaveral for a cruise and we just had to come back! This time we were on our way to Winter Park for a family wedding. My husband had arranged to celebrate our anniversary here since it was coming up soon, and the restaurant, including our waiter, went out of their way to make our evening special. Ocean 60 is fantastic.
