Diner Reviews
  • "Great tasting, clean food....very flavorful...the medallions are to die for...melt in your mouth. Make sure you buy something in the Golden Braid next door first because they give you a $10 off coupon to use in the restaraunt. This is our new special night dinner date."

  • "I love going to the Oasis, especially for brunch! I don't eat eggs and many brunch places don't realize that if you don't eat egg dishes you need granola, pancakes and other dishes. Also, I really appreciate the wait staff. Even when the place is really busy, they are great. They have back up in place so that as soon as your food is ready, it is delivered to you. The popularity of the place has grown over the years so, especially for brunch, it is good to make a reservation."

  • "I met some friends for brunch at Oasis Cafe. We had a reservation and were seated immediately, and our server, whose name I am kicking myself for not being able to remember, brought us coffee and chatted with us for a minute. She was so nice, always made sure our water and coffee were filled up, and was just generally an awesome server. Even though the restaurant was clearly very busy, our service never suffered and the food was delicious."

  • "The menu is diverse and you will want to order everything! There are several choices for vegetarian diners. The restaurant is beautiful and is nice for conversation. The staff are professional and pleasant. Be sure to visit the book store after you dine."

  • "Oasis is really a great spot for a date. It's in a quieter part of Salt Lake nestled right in between downtown and the university. Lovely ambience and service."

  • "A business lunch and then some! Great food, room to spread out work materials and discreet service. Oasis is truly "an Oasis"."

  • "Never been here before. Needed a place that served Vegan along with American. You were very accommodating for our birthday group and two young kids in our group. More of a come and go place for lunch. Not a restaurant, like I imagined when I made reservations. A little noisy for my 93 year old mother. Service was excellent!! Some in our group ordered breakfast. It looked great. Menu needs more lunch items. Salmon was delicious but needs other food with it . We ordered the salad but still went away hungry."

  • "The Oasis is very good for breakfast, brunch or lunch spot. The food is local, fresh and well prepared. It is a go to for consistent food. Summer outdoor dining is particularly nice. Indoors the noise level can sometime be an issue at breakfast when they seem to be the most crowded. We haven't tried it for dinner so can't comment on that. Also, The Golden Braid Book Store is in the same building and a very nice place to browse either before or after a meal. We enjoy the combination of restaurant and book store."

  • "Our RESERVATION was Sunday at noon. We arrived at 11:50 AM. We were promised "We're preparing your table." Three times we asked why the delay. Finally, at 12:15 the young woman at the computer pointed to the small table just an elbow away from her that our table was ready … which had just that minute been cleaned! It went downhill after that. When we objected to the worst table in the restaurant, she became belligerent. She raised her voice and said some had been waiting 45 minutes and they were doing the best they could. I reminded her that we had reservations at noon and we had an opera to attend at 2 PM. We had no menus and no water for another 10 minutes. We have eaten there many times before. HUGE disappointment."

  • "I started coming to the Oasis in 2006, and frequented the restaurant during my entire stay at both the summer and winter OR shows each successive year. It was wonderful to get away from the trade show scene to find a real local spot with high quality, natural food. I can't say that the restaurant is bad, but the quality of the food seems to have deteriorated in the last couple of years. While before each bite of food from the very eclectic menu would solicit oohs and ahs, it now seems fairly ordinary. I am also disappointed that the pasta and lobster, the beef medallions dishes and other are no longer offered. These were hugely popular and looked forward to by the many guests I would bring."

  • "Not only was the service and food terrific, the portion sizes were perfect -- no need for doggie bag. The three course meal was delectable. This is my second visit and I will be coming back"

  • "The New Year's Eve dinner menu offered well-considered options. Both of us chose different appetizers, soup/salad, and entrees. All were executed in a manner pleasing to the palate as well as the eye. Thank you for a delightful evening!"

  • "We love Oasis for its decent selection of vegetarian options but mostly for the excellent and friendly, relaxed service and the quiet ambiance of the place. Summer dining outside is a special treat but even inside, the decor and the wonderfully quiet acoustics make for very cozy and comfortable socializing. If there was one suggestion it would be to reduce the lighting glare. There are many places in the restaurant where one sits under a bright spotlight, which completely competes with the otherwise soft, cozy atmosphere. Time for a new lighting plan!"

  • "We went to the Oasis for the first time to celebrate my husband's birthday. We had a reservation but arrived a little early. Our table wasn't ready but we wandered around the Golden Braid bookstore for a bit and were perfectly happy. Once seated we swiftly received drinks and were told the special. We ordered the mushroom duxelles and sausage appetizer which was savory and filling. I might order it for a casual meal another time. I ordered the crab with micro greens and pea emulsion. The crab was perfectly cooked, sweet and buttery and the freshness of the greens and pea emulsion helped balance the richness of the crab. I cleaned my plate as did everyone at the table. My only criticism is that the space is very noisy. Our new favorite!"

  • "Great Atmosphere. Great Food. Great Service. I love the idea that they also have a book store, which is a good place to browse while they get your table ready. Very peaceful. They know how to run their restaurant and I plan to be back soon with my friends!"

  • "The food was amazing and our waitress was pretty good. My water did get low a few times but overall it was great. My only complaint was it was a little noisier than I would have liked. This couldn't be helped as there was nothing to absorb the sound."

  • "We were there for a birthday brunch and came from different ends of the valley. We are four sisters but don't see each other often and stayed a while. Our waiter, Tyler was fantastic! He didn't make us feel uncomfortable for staying as long as we did and timed everything just right. One of the best dining experiences I have had myself. My sisters also commented on how great everything was! We Are from Bountiful and two of us went to High School with the owner. We are happy for their success! Thanks again!"

  • "The atmosphere was really unique with the bookstore next to the cafe. The outdoor dining is a must on a nice night. The tasting plate was delicious and you'll definitely want to order more bread. Our entrees were all really good. The beef medallions were the best choice out of the 4 we ordered, but everything was delicious. The plating was beautiful and very colorful. We waited quite awhile for service and getting additional drinks, but that was the worst part of our night."
