Diner Reviews
  • "Our waiter didn't write our order down, so items were forgotten, and our appetizer arrived after we were served our main courses. The staff was friendly and polite, but the prices were higher than they should've been. "

  • "My fiance and I had our Easter brunch here. The space/atmosphere is gorgeous, and the music was really fun. Overall we had a great experience. The service by our server was slow/delayed for the most part and then we were quite rushed at the end. Loved the porchetta flatbread, hash, and delicious cheese plate (although our serve neglected to tell us which cheese was which), but the eggs benedict was underwhelming. The cocktails were delicious and unique, and the service was the bar was great. Looking forward to returning!!"

  • "I opted for a very light lunch, and learned that the biscuits that had been offered initially are not unavailable. They had been served with a sauce which is also unavailable. The salad I ordered on this visit was fresh, an adaptation of a caesar."

  • "This visit is proof that the server or bartender makes all the difference. I asked politely for a slight variation from the normal way an item was prepared and the chef actually came out to ask specifically what I would prefer to ensure the best understanding. Some favorite items had recently been removed from the menu, but on request it appears a deviation is possible. The lone holdout appears to be the Boston Cream Pie, and for the moment lost to history. Hopefully, this can be addressed in a pragmatic way to make it available on request even if unavailable on the menu per se. Its the only thing comparable in the city."

  • "for a vegetarian diner, there are a nice assortment of delicious small plates, but no main course that is meat free, i would like to see that change. A vegan main dish would be even better. Currently, we don’t eat here for meals, but it is very nice for a drink and snacks and conversation."

  • "We dined at oak room Saturday night before. It was early so we weren't starving, shared a salad (kale salad, so good) an appetizer (ahi tuna tartare- delicious) and the salmon which was also very good. Just enough to be satisfied but not too full. Jose our server was very helpful, attentive and efficient. We were late for our reservation but called ahead and hostess very nice and was able to accommodate us. Tables were close together so hard not to hear conversation next to you but beautiful decor and overall very pleasant dining experience!"

  • "For my most recent birthday, my father insisted we go here. I was nervous about the relatively small menu and the higher prices, but it turned out to be one of the best meals I've ever had. The ambience was very energetic and easygoing. The food was perfectly cooked and perfectly portioned (I had steak frites - perfectly cooked - and the best bread in the world). The drinks were also fabulous: the wine list was vast and varied, and the house cocktails all sounded delicious - I highly reccomend the blackberry mojito. Bit what really made this meal was our server: not only was he friendly and charming, but he was also more than happy to explain anything on the menu. Overall the meal was flawless, and well worth every penny."

  • "Great place for a quiet power breakfast if you're in the Back Bay area; not too crowded and just pretentious enough. Excellent croissant."

  • "This was my second visit to Oak Long Bar & Kitchen but my first for Brunch and it was a great experience. The food was delicious, the mimosas prefect and the atmosphere was relaxing and comfortable. Our server was very friendly and sweet."

  • "We visited in a cold and windy Sunday for brunch. As soon as we entered we spotted the fire behind the bar. It was a warm, inviting and romantic place to have a brunch. We enjoyed chatting over food and drinks. The staff behind the bar was very quick to serve us and replenish as needed."

  • "I recently dined at the Oak Lounge and with my boyfriend for his birthday and I was very impressed. I had made reservations online and when we arrived the host offered a choice of having a table in the bar area or in a more intimate setting; this was a nice option to have. We did sit for a few minutes before the waiter came over, which was fine with us because we were in no rush, but for others might have seemed like a bit of a delay. The cocktails were good; we had a couple before we ordered. We did not feel rushed at all. My boyfriend ordered the crab mac&cheese which he was in love with! At the end of the meal our waiter brought over a dessert with a candle on it for his b-day; a very nice touch."

  • "I go out to lunch in Boston for business quite a bit, and I've seldom gotten less value for my dollar. Food was good, service and setting good, but why would I pay $25 for fish and chips (and the smallest piece of fish I've ever gotten in a fish and chips order) when I could go to a dozen other high end places and either pay far less for the same quality and portion size or pay the same for higher quality and larger portion size? OAK: my review might be a clue as to why there were about 12 people lunching in a restaurant that seats 125+..."

  • "Love this place. Mike, Herbert, and Luis took amazing care of us at the bar. Drinks were incredible, and the food was outstanding. Highly recommended for anything from a special date night, to a corporate dinner. Great bar scene, and the vibe is happening. The kitchen staff expertly handled my special steak request too. No issues at all."

  • "Awesome monkey bread - syrup was warm but not hot, which was a really nice touch. We're able to substitute berries only which made for a decadent fruit bowl. Mimosa was bitter, should have gone with a Bellini. Gorgeous location, very comfy seating, wonderful staff."

  • "I took a friend to dinner for her birthday because we liked the wine list, and have enjoyed it when we went for drinks there. The food was good, but the service took a very long time. We had 3 different servers, and it did not see like we had any specific person dedicated for us. We order to apps, two entrees and split a dessert, and it took 2 1/2- 3 hours. There was about a 30 minute wait between courses. I would recommend it to friends, but not on a weekend, maybe during the week it would be better."

  • "I took my wife here for her birthday and right from the moment we walked in it was amazing. From the friendly hostess that gave us a special table to the amazing food that we had we both loved the entire night. Our waiter was the best, our waiter made the night very enjoyable with excellent service and some birthday freebies on the house. Amazing night, service, food, etc.....you have to go here."

  • "I'd previously headed to the Oak Long Bar for lunch and cocktails. This was a date night out for my wife and I and we had a great time. The service is great, the food is outstanding, and there is enough variety and quality in the wine and cocktails to make anyone happy. We had hoped to have steak or duck, but those were the two things they were out of by our 8:30 dinner reservation. The pot roast was excellent though, as was the flatbread and later the sticky pudding for dessert. Highly recommended for an occasion, simply because it's a bit pricy."

  • "Seating is uncomfortably close together. Steak lacked flavor."

  • "The food was absolutely amazing. I had the grilled rohan duck and it was cooked perfectly and presented quite well on the plate. For dessert I had the sticky toffee pudding and it was delicious. The restaurant itself has a very beautiful interior. I would recommend anyone looking for a nice romantic dinner spot to check it out."

  • "While visiting Boston, I chose this place in the Fairmont Copley Plaza Hotel to meet an old friend for a long breakfast. Outstanding yogurt parfait and muffin. The plush ambiance, with enough separation between tables for privacy, was just what we needed."

  • "Had lunch and cocktails before the symphony on a Friday afternoon. Absolutely a wonderful experience! Bartender Phil could not have been more welcoming or knowledgeable--specialty bourbon cocktail was inventive and perfect for a cold winter day. Loved the fish and chips, too. Will make it a stop every time I'm in Boston."

  • "The room is stunning, very imposing as you walk in and a busy bar. Food - we shared a flatbread to start, we should have ordered it for a main course as it was really delicious. The crab mac and cheese and carbonara were not great, white sauce that did not taste of anything but the manager noticed that we had left a lot and dealt with this so well that we will definitely go back but will just order the porchetta flatbread!"

  • "It's just plain gorgeous, with fireplaces sprinkled around the rooms, and the best decor in Boston I think. The food is good, the service is excellent and the noise level permits normal conversation. One of my favorite places in town. There is also a very lively bar scene for older affluent Bostonians, most welcome in a town where nearly every bar is catering to the college crowd."

  • "I have not had dinner here, but have heard it is excellent. It is right next to where I work in Back Bay, and you cannot beat the ambiance or the service. The menu looked good, and in fairness to them, what I ordered was not my favorite but how great can you make oatmeal? My companions had wonderful looking and tasting dishes. I am writing this review to recommend this place for business breakfast. I will definitely return and hope to make it back to lunch and dinner. Have had drinks here once before, and it was good for that also."

  • "I had my second visit in two weeks to the Oak Bar this weekend and was disappointed (again) in the service and food. Both times we had to wait a full 10 minutes before someone asked for drink orders and this second time it was 1 hour from when we sat down did the waiter ask if we wanted to order any food. The staff was not engaging both times and made us feel like we were not important and possibly a distraction to something else. Bottom line, you'll get more attention at a McDonald's drive thru."

  • "After the renovations, the only thing notable is the loss of so many favorites, including the ambiance that was the trademark of this Boston establishment. The bright spots remain but they are mostly in the staff including Cheryl, who is very accommodating and gracious. The menu does have some nice selections, its more whats missing that is the issue. While the Omni Parker House introduced Boston Cream Pie, it was the Copley Plaza where the best was found both in taste and presentation. There are some great bartenders as well but unfortunately, they can't do much to rectify the problem with the lack of offerings on the menu. My appeals to the general manager were not answered, which is unacceptable."

  • "Wonderful evening. Every bite and sip of wine was delicious. Loved the new vibe in the old hotel. They were able to keep the character, lose the stuffiness and bring it into the new century. Everyone seemed to be enjoying themselves. We will definitely go back. Especially when they are serving the gingerbread whoopie pie. Outstanding!"

  • "I can not say enough good things about the Oak Long Bar in the Fairmont Copley Plaza! 1. When they were full and gave us a table. 2. Treated us like we were regulars on our first bar sitting. Mike is the BEST behind the bar!! 3. Did not blink an eye at our two small children when we came in with family. 4. Brunch was amazing - try the breakfast mac and cheese! Yummy! 5. Last but not least - the Sticky Pudding Cake was awesome!! 6. Sitting at one of the two tables by the fireplace - so sweet!"

  • "It is our tradition to bring family to the airport on New Year's Eve day, then stop here for lunch. The charcuterie is fantastic, as is the chicken pot pie. We sat at the beautiful copper-wrapped bar this time and our bartender was wonderful. Can't recommend it enough."

  • "Sunday brunch offered limited menu but enough choices to satisfy variety of tastes. Omelet, salmon, and Macaroni and cheese w/egg and bacon were all enjoyed at our table. We would have liked a made to order omelet option or French toast (instead of chocolate F toast). Service was excellent. Bloody Mary and mimosa hit the spot for a toast to the season."

  • "Had a great table, great waitron, and great food. The cocktail, tho' steep, was plentiful. We didn't expect quite the quality of food that they served . All in all, a well accomplished restaurant."

  • "Though the room is bustling, busy and full, I felt like relaxed and calm. The high ceilings distribute the sound so it is not loud, and the caring service makes you feel like you are the only customer there."

  • "This was a Christmas Eve dinner. Our server was not the best. When we had a question about the food she would roll her eyes or have a negative facial expression. While it was very busy, she seemed to forget us a couple of times. Actually discouraged us from ordering this bread appetizer, she actually said " that is not free it cost money you know". Of course it did that is why they have it on the menu. Also my wife does not eat red meat and even the fish dishes had meat in them which they were able to remove for the dish she ordered. The hostess was absolutely wonderful and saved the evening from a service standpoint and the food was excellent."

  • "We have enjoyed special times at the Oak Long Bar. It is festive, elegant, very New York hot spot feeling. The drinks are impressive, served bucket style. Unfortunately, the tariff is high as well. So that is why this is reserved for only when we want to impress anyone. It was not very busy early evening yet it seemed to take a long time to get our drink order."
