I booked based on search criteria for brunch options. I did not realize this was a restaurant in a hotel at the time, so was a bit hesitant when I arrived. The menu options shown on Open Table were not all available, but I was very pleased with Corned Beef Hash with poached eggs and hollandaise. Service was just OK, but food came out quickly.

I went to this restaurant for a breakfast meeting, because I wanted basic good service. I wanted the food order to be correct, water glasses filled without having to ask every time, etc. None of this happened. Versus concentrating on the meeting, I had to apologize when my business partner looked at me and said, "What is wrong with this place? The locals must stay away from this place. Is it meant only for one-time tourists?" Also, charging $6 for a refill of coffee is ridiculous.

The room and setting is gorgeous. There is not enough wait staff so service was a bit slow. The food was generally good but uneven in entres- flatbread was excellent, other main entries were just ok. We asked for water right at the beginning and did not receive it til the end of the meal. When trying to make reservations times were limited . But when we entered and at the end of our meal, there were plenty of tables. Ambience is the best going for this place. I would only come back for a cocktail or glass of wine. Food and service needs work.

The only accomplishment here was that they managed to take one of the most elegant, satisfying restaurants in Boston and convert it into a completely mediocre (at best), noisy, cramped restaurant with bad service. We are Bostonians who have been enjoying good Boston restaurants for many years. This place will never see us again. As for the many 4 star reviews, they could only have been bought. If you see that it is busy, it has to be the hotel guests who don't know the restaurant and who have no choice, because it's there.

Be careful when ordering since each menu, lunch, afternoon, and dinner may offer a main entree that will vary with sides depending on the time of day. The price also moves with the day, becoming higher by the minute. It can be loud, even when the crowd is smaller. There are several members of the staff that are exceptional and they make up for some of the downfalls that this venue has. The food quality is good, but I don't like eating off something that appears to be slate. I much prefer a plate for a meal, otherwise I would opt for carryout. This restaurant and the management need to realize they are in a historic venerable Boston institution and only a slight effort would make all the difference.

A great room in a grand hotel reconsidered. Peppery clam chowder opened proceedings. The cod sandwich was equally five-star. Unfortunately the lobster "roll" on a steamed Chinese bun was bland on bland. We ate the lobster salad, complained to the room manager about the roll, were told that the chef likes it. I said the F&B manager should step in as it is an expensive nothing, the title misleading. Lovely Jordan Chard to accompany. Room was understaffed on July 4 and service sloooowww. Yes, I would gladly return, hoping for the best.

Its hard not to like some of the modifications made in the Oak Long Bar + Kitchen, what is lacking is the substance that existed for years in the previous venue(s). Its difficult enough to satisfy the crowd, but its easy to overlook some of the basic needs of a hotel guest. Some of the selections that are available are just fantastic, others need improvement or outright replacement. For the cost of dining, is it too much to expect a plate, or should one be requested when ordering? The one stellar item for breakfast is the Skillet Hash which is simply remarkable. The dessert menu needs attention. The portions shrank along with the price, but is that what people really want when splurging on dinner or lunch in the OAK?

The room was lively after the Independence day celebration had to be moved up by a day due to the forecast of storms in the area. Somehow I was able to secure a seat at the bar, and arrived just in advance of the deluge when people filled the room taking cover. I was able to order, was given a regular menu first, which was yanked from in front of me before I could contemplate ordering. It was gingerly replaced with the late night version with greatly reduced offerings. A warning of the impending deadline would have been nice.

You will need lots of money when dining here. Seven dollars for orange juice and five dollars for a soft drink would buy lunch in most places. Obviously the surroundings are worth a lot. While the orange juice is good, is not freshly squeezed on site. Almost everything else is fresh and when possible locally sourced. Many of the brunch offerings are excellent, but pricey. My waiter was very attentive and personable, and checked with me often.

Nice lunch here. The did a great job with the space (from when it was the steak house). Nice open look, huge bar, high ceilings... nicely decorated. The menu is small, many of the portions are small too... prices are high. The quality of the chow is very high, the surroundings excellent, service careful and they aim to please. Great location right in the middle of Copley Square. So there's good reason why it's expensive. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED

Although the ambience and location of the revamped bastion of Boston is exceptional. The service is truly lacking. I had a client luncheon. We waited forever to get served. We ordered an appetizer and entree salad. They brought both at once after waiting forever. They had our salads wrong and had to send back. Waited forever again. No sooner had we gotten our salads than another waiter dropped outr Check. Not once did anyone check on us or see if maybe we wanted coffee and dessert. Then had to wait forever for someone to take my credit card. A very cool venue. The food was passable for the price and the small menu was creative but we were both horrified at the lack of training and service from a company that is renowned for its service.

great drinks...food not so much. we went twice in one day. First time- brunch. Didn't see anything that caught my eye. So we just had cocktails. Nice quiet place for Sunday afternoon, inside seating. Second time- same day. Returned after shopping for another cocktail and try dinner- sat outside- great ambience. Our service was poor for it to be a quiet place. We ordered pasta which was overcooked.

The OAK-whatever is a nice, trendy space but not upscale enough for a hotel like the Fairmont Copley Plaza. I made the mistake of having an important business luncheon there and ended up with a waiter in jeans, no tablecloth, and a hand towel for a napkin. Also verrrrrry expensive ($18 for a bowl of soup - they can afford uniforms for the waiters). A fun atmosphere but better suited for a bar/tavern with a restaurant/dining room option as the Copley Plaza used to have. Or, there were about a half dozen seating areas, maybe one could be a bit more turned out for people wanting a restaurant (versus sports bar) environment? Would not go back, there are a dozen places like this within two blocks of the hotel at half the cost.

This evening, I felt uncharacteristically open to suggestions from the staff and other diners seated nearby at the bar and opted for a staple, The Yankee Pot Roast which was artistically a statement beyond my expectations, both in presentation and preparation. The flavor and tender cut made this the perfect choice. My only comment is that I would have preferred that it be served somewhat hotter. It seems commonplace in many restaurants these days, that staff is afraid to serve food piping or steaming hot. This one change would make the selection a stellar one indeed. The dessert offerings continue to be a personal disappointment. One can only hope that some of the classics of the hotel and the Oak Room will make a reappearance soon.

read good reviews but was terribly disappointed. they claimed they did not have my reservation noting that lost opentable reservations were common. we were put at a table near entrance in super-crowded bar area; a cold breeze hit each time the door opened; very noisy as well. contrary to request, server brought 2 appetizers when 1 was specifically ordered as a main and did not bring extra portion of the other appetizer as promised (so one party was left eating alone when this was delivered later) then forgot appetizer ordered as a main, that came after the others all had finished eating. Never asked whether all was well, or whether we wanted anything else. Sad since food was pretty good and the the room is pretty.

Should have been a good spot for a brunch with friends. But at 11 am the service was terrible. And the food also was a B-. They offer just one omelet - ham and cheddar. - so you would think it would be very good. Again very mediocre. Interestingly, the best choice someone in our group made was pancakes with blue berries. That tells you something.

We celebrated my friends birthday with a glass of proseco and followed it with a mediocre lunch. The menu offered ordinary fare like fish sandwiches, hamburgers, flat breads. There weren't many healthy choices. My friend ordered the fried chicken. Two small pieces were offered with coleslaw. She ordered fries because she was still hungry! My fiance and I had our Easter brunch here. The space/atmosphere is gorgeous, and the music was really fun. Overall we had a great experience. The service by our server was slow/delayed for the most part and then we were quite rushed at the end. Loved the porchetta flatbread, hash, and delicious cheese plate (although our serve neglected to tell us which cheese was which), but the eggs benedict was underwhelming. The cocktails were delicious and unique, and the service was the bar was great. Looking forward to returning!!

This visit is proof that the server or bartender makes all the difference. I asked politely for a slight variation from the normal way an item was prepared and the chef actually came out to ask specifically what I would prefer to ensure the best understanding. Some favorite items had recently been removed from the menu, but on request it appears a deviation is possible. The lone holdout appears to be the Boston Cream Pie, and for the moment lost to history. Hopefully, this can be addressed in a pragmatic way to make it available on request even if unavailable on the menu per se. Its the only thing comparable in the city.

It was early so we weren't starving, shared a salad (kale salad, so good) an appetizer (ahi tuna tartare- delicious) and the salmon which was also very good. Just enough to be satisfied but not too full. Jose our server was very helpful, attentive and efficient. For my most recent birthday, my father insisted we go here. I was nervous about the relatively small menu and the higher prices, but it turned out to be one of the best meals I've ever had. The ambience was very energetic and easygoing. The food was perfectly cooked and perfectly portioned (I had steak frites - perfectly cooked - and the best bread in the world). The drinks were also fabulous: the wine list was vast and varied, and the house cocktails all sounded delicious - I highly reccomend the blackberry mojito. Bit what really made this meal was our server: not only was he friendly and charming, but he was also more than happy to explain anything on the menu. Overall the meal was flawless, and well worth every penny.
