Diner Reviews
  • "We dined late on a Wednesday night and the dining room was fairly quiet. Our waiter explained the whiskey menu and made a couple of suggestions. Both were fantastic! Thank you, William. While enjoying our cocktail we shared the peach and arugula salad. I liked that the goat cheese was on the side. My vegetarian dish was a Nepolean, a short stack of thinly sliced vegetables, eggplant, squash and tomatoes with a bit of homemade ricotta on top of lemon risotto. It was delicious! My husband had the grilled jumbo shrimp and enjoyed it very much. William also recommended wines for our dinner as well as perfect after dinner drinks. I would recommend this restaurant."

  • "This restaurant has a beautiful, cozy decor, very friendly staff & great service. The food was fantastic! We started with the peach arugula salad & apple bacon hush puppies. Both were delicious! For our entrees, we had the halibut with peach chutney, scallops, and fried chicken. We enjoyed all of them but the halibut was amazing! Will definitely come back on our next visit to The Cape!"

  • "Had a nice dinner the other night. Started at bar and paid for round of drinks there after reviewing wine menu. Ordered exactly the same wine from the same wine menu at the table. We were given Prix-Fixe and regular menus. I ordered a 3 course Frix-Fixe meal and the other two of us ordered Ala-Carte. When the check arrived, two of the three wines were listed as more expensive types of the same varieties as ordered. The additional cost for those 4 glasses was over $20. In addition, my Prix-Fixe dinner was listed as Ala-Carte......... at an increased cost of $15. We spent nearly $200 before tip on this business meal and I'm not into making a scene so I paid and still left a nice tip.... which I regret. I will never return."

  • "Great food, definitely a meat lover specialty. Great steak and ribs. Extensive wine list. Service was excellent, resteraunt is on the smaller side but very well put together."

  • "Introduced friends to O&E. They loved it as much as we did. We had a great dinner (two men ordered the veal special) (one strip steak) (one planked salmon). The food, as usual, was cooked to perfection! Our waitress (Coleen???) was fun and informative. We had a GREAT corner booth as I requested (but never hoped to get on a Friday night!!). The only......and ONLY negative was the volume of the music. We were in a far corner and it was very loud. It was hard to carry on a conversation it was so loud. Something to think about in the future. We will be back again soon."

  • "We really liked Oak and Ember! After a couple of dud restaurants in this lovely South Cape Plaza location, Oak and Ember seems to have found the secret recipe for success. The food was excellent, and the service just right. All of our waitress' recommendations were on the mark, and if you like whiskey this is your place. Will definitely return very soon."

  • "Part of the Wicked restaurant family - Oak and Ember Whiskey Bar & Grill is a great option if you are interested in steak, bbq and seafood. Smoke flavors the meals - the salmon was great. Family members got the twin filet and special pork loin which they loved. Hope they"

  • "Great night with my daughter and husband. Michael was the absolute best server! His suggestions were welcomed and spot on. I am not a whiskey drinker, but he suggested a whiskey that I thoroughly enjoyed. His knowledge of the menu was extraordinary. Husband devoured his pork shank, my planked salmon was to die for, and daughter's rib sampler was great.....happy stomachs all around. Topped the night with delicious creme brulee. This is our 2nd dining experience at O&E and we will be back again soon. Love the fact that we can make reservations; especially during the busy summer. We are year round residents and definitely eat out more in the cold winter months. Looking forward to many more visits and we hope Michael will be working!"

  • "Last evening, my husband and I dined at Oak & Ember for the first time. By the time we finished, we both agreed that it was one of the best dining experiences we've shared on Cape Cod! Our server, Michael, was fantastic, giving us very personalized service while attending to every detail expediently and cheerfully. From start to finish, the food was absolutely outstanding! From the caramelized onion bread served fresh from the oven to the cobb salad-generously portioned, freshly chopped and served with tender, deliciously marinated steak to the perfectly cooked, seasoned and sauced petite filet and the grilled shrimp and scallop dishes which were our entrees--we enjoyed every morsel. We will definitely be returning!"

  • "Went for dinner, had a resevation. restuarant called to confirm asked if we would mind sitting at a high top table. We declined wanting a regurlar table. When we got there the person that called to confirm was taking us to a high top. we advised unacceptable and requested it be made right. Offer to get us a drink while we had to wait, which sounded like for the inconvience it was a customer service thing and would be a benefit to make our yet to experience dinner more enjoyable. wrong it was not Drinks were not on them we misunderstood ! dinner was awesome great food ,waitress was superb. manager of the restaurant came over told what happened, apologized where th drinks were on them for the inconvience. now that is customer service."

  • "This place occupies a niche that really doesn't exist on the Cape, a place for the meat eaters to enjoy, along with superlative cocktails, a fine wine list and great after dinner scotches, bourbons and many more interesting liquors. The restaurant ably managed a power outage combined with a LONG period of the fire alarm going off, by management going table to table and quietly assuring the diners. It was a very good meal, not great, but solid and satisfying. One weak point was the seafood gumbo, a watery version, pale in comparison to anything I ever had down in Louisiana. Highlights included the house smoked salmon and the lamb chop special. I'll be back!"

  • "The Oak and Ember is a nice for dinner. Dress is neat casual, but I don't think they are too strict. Possibly not a great choice for a family with small children, though. The standard menu has limited choices, but all the dishes looked like they would be worth trying. My companion and I both ordered from the daily specials, and both dishes were delicious and attractively prepared. We did not try anything from the extensive Whisky menu (they have more whisky choices than wine choices) with an interesting selection of bourbon, single malt scotch, cognac etc.. We settled for draft drinks - I got a stout beer, and my companion chose cider. Both were quite good."

  • "We had read about this new restaurant in the Mashpee Commons and decided to meet friends there for an early dinner. The three course dinner special for $26 was perfect with a good variety of apps, entrees and desserts. The Southern touch to their cooking makes for an interesting and tasty experience. We all got something different and tasted many things that way and we were not disappointed. The ambiance was comfortable and quiet so we could enjoy some dinner conversation as well. Our server was very knowledgeable and helpful with the menu. We will be back!"

  • "Intimate club atmosphere. We were readgy for an alternative to seafood and were not disappointed. A 10 ounce sirloin was the perfect size, tasty especially with the creative toppings. Unlike other steak restaurants a side was included which was delicious."

  • "Enjoyed the food very much and the .portions were a good amount. We had steak with crispy fries and lamb chops w/mushroom risotto and a delicious peach/arugula salad. The bread and corn muffins were a nice accompaniment. Split the decadent chocolate cake and glad we did split because it was huge and delicious! We really like the location and have gone to all the restaurants that were there previously and liked them all. We hope this one will succeed and we don't see why they won't because we had no complaints. The staff were very helpful and attentive. Our waitress, Stephanie was great. We hope to get back soon to try the BBQ and other dishes."

  • "We visited Oak and Ember for the first time on a Monday night. The location of this restaurant has been the home of at least four restaurants in the past five years. Thank goodness Oak and Ember arrived....we hope it's here to stay! We arrived and were enthusiastically greeted by the hostess. We were shown to our comfortable table with sofa seating. Will was our waiter. We were disappointed when he left our Country Club dining room, but were happy to "find" him again! His knowledge of the menu was very helpful in selecting making our meal selections. He was attentinve in light of the fact that the restaurant was pretty packed. I ordered a dinner special and my husband selected the rib sampler. Both meals were delish! GO to O&E."

  • "It was Saturday night, we arrived 20 minutes early and was seated right away because we had reservations. Our waiter was polite and seemed new. We had to remind him of a drink that was ordered. The steak we ordered was great, but the side of collard greens needed to be cooked longer. They were tough. We found the menu on expensive side compared to other fine restaurants on the Cape. "

  • "We were excited to try Oak and Ember. We are huge fans of Wicked Pizza next door so when we heard the owner was opening another restaurant we were hoping to find a new favorite restaurant. I was disappointed to find the food was not good. Even the ketchup was runny. I will say that we did have desert and the peanut butter pie was excellent. "

  • "This was my husband and my first time going to this restaurant. We had reservations and they took us right on time. The food was absolutely great. I had the rib sampler and my husband had the flat iron steak. The only issue was the steak came out cold. They were able to warm it up a bit and he said it still tasted great. It was our anniversary and we got a dessert on the house so we got the beignets which were unbelievable and we highly recommend them! Despite the little snafu with the steak warmth we will definitely go back. For anybody that likes whisky, they have over 140 types to choose from! Overall it was a great dining experience. "

  • "This past weekend was my 3rd visit to Oak and Ember. I was very pleased with the experience of my first 2 dinners, although I can't say the same of my most recent evening at this restaurant. The food was pretty good but the service was completely inadequate. First of several blunders: I ordered a glass of Sauvignon Blanc, and the waiter announced my choice as he handed me a glass of red wine! Second, my date ordered the $49 dollar steak and as the waiter walked away, I asked if he would like to know the temperature that my date prefer the steak be cooked...I can appreciate a learning curve of a new employee, but for a $200 dinner for two, I should not be required to train said employee. I will not be returning!"

  • "I love Oak and Ember. I would eat there once a week, if my wallet could handle it. My last visit was for my birthday dinner with a few friends. Our server was wonderful at being sneaky with my companions, putting out decoy dessert menus at the end of the meal while he prepared my favorite desserts with birthday candles. Every time I go, the manager (I assume) walks by the table and checks in during the meal. Even the bus person wished me happy birthday on my way out the door. I've never eaten anything there I didn't like. It's always clean, on the darker side (which I enjoy for ambiance), and everyone is friendly. Fantastic drink selection as well. LOVE IT THERE!"

  • "A premium priced steakhouse with non premium product. The steaks are just not that good. This was my second time there and both times the steak was not that good. I can cook a steak at home just as good (if not better) for a lot less money. Service was great. Place was empty."
