  • "We had read about this new restaurant in the Mashpee Commons and decided to meet friends there for an early dinner. The three course dinner special for $26 was perfect with a good variety of apps, entrees and desserts. The Southern touch to their cooking makes for an interesting and tasty experience. We all got something different and tasted many things that way and we were not disappointed. The ambiance was comfortable and quiet so we could enjoy some dinner conversation as well. Our server was very knowledgeable and helpful with the menu. We will be back!"

  • "The Oak and Ember is a nice for dinner. Dress is neat casual, but I don't think they are too strict. Possibly not a great choice for a family with small children, though. The standard menu has limited choices, but all the dishes looked like they would be worth trying. My companion and I both ordered from the daily specials, and both dishes were delicious and attractively prepared. We did not try anything from the extensive Whisky menu (they have more whisky choices than wine choices) with an interesting selection of bourbon, single malt scotch, cognac etc.. We settled for draft drinks - I got a stout beer, and my companion chose cider. Both were quite good."

  • "This place occupies a niche that really doesn't exist on the Cape, a place for the meat eaters to enjoy, along with superlative cocktails, a fine wine list and great after dinner scotches, bourbons and many more interesting liquors. The restaurant ably managed a power outage combined with a LONG period of the fire alarm going off, by management going table to table and quietly assuring the diners. It was a very good meal, not great, but solid and satisfying. One weak point was the seafood gumbo, a watery version, pale in comparison to anything I ever had down in Louisiana. Highlights included the house smoked salmon and the lamb chop special. I'll be back!"

  • "Intimate club atmosphere. We were readgy for an alternative to seafood and were not disappointed. A 10 ounce sirloin was the perfect size, tasty especially with the creative toppings. Unlike other steak restaurants a side was included which was delicious."

  • "Enjoyed the food very much and the .portions were a good amount. We had steak with crispy fries and lamb chops w/mushroom risotto and a delicious peach/arugula salad. The bread and corn muffins were a nice accompaniment. Split the decadent chocolate cake and glad we did split because it was huge and delicious! We really like the location and have gone to all the restaurants that were there previously and liked them all. We hope this one will succeed and we don't see why they won't because we had no complaints. The staff were very helpful and attentive. Our waitress, Stephanie was great. We hope to get back soon to try the BBQ and other dishes."

  • "We visited Oak and Ember for the first time on a Monday night. The location of this restaurant has been the home of at least four restaurants in the past five years. Thank goodness Oak and Ember arrived....we hope it's here to stay! We arrived and were enthusiastically greeted by the hostess. We were shown to our comfortable table with sofa seating. Will was our waiter. We were disappointed when he left our Country Club dining room, but were happy to "find" him again! His knowledge of the menu was very helpful in selecting making our meal selections. He was attentinve in light of the fact that the restaurant was pretty packed. I ordered a dinner special and my husband selected the rib sampler. Both meals were delish! GO to O&E."

  • "It was Saturday night, we arrived 20 minutes early and was seated right away because we had reservations. Our waiter was polite and seemed new. We had to remind him of a drink that was ordered. The steak we ordered was great, but the side of collard greens needed to be cooked longer. They were tough. We found the menu on expensive side compared to other fine restaurants on the Cape. "

  • "We were excited to try Oak and Ember. We are huge fans of Wicked Pizza next door so when we heard the owner was opening another restaurant we were hoping to find a new favorite restaurant. I was disappointed to find the food was not good. Even the ketchup was runny. I will say that we did have desert and the peanut butter pie was excellent. "

  • "This past weekend was my 3rd visit to Oak and Ember. I was very pleased with the experience of my first 2 dinners, although I can't say the same of my most recent evening at this restaurant. The food was pretty good but the service was completely inadequate. First of several blunders: I ordered a glass of Sauvignon Blanc, and the waiter announced my choice as he handed me a glass of red wine! Second, my date ordered the $49 dollar steak and as the waiter walked away, I asked if he would like to know the temperature that my date prefer the steak be cooked...I can appreciate a learning curve of a new employee, but for a $200 dinner for two, I should not be required to train said employee. I will not be returning!"

  • "This was my husband and my first time going to this restaurant. We had reservations and they took us right on time. The food was absolutely great. I had the rib sampler and my husband had the flat iron steak. The only issue was the steak came out cold. They were able to warm it up a bit and he said it still tasted great. It was our anniversary and we got a dessert on the house so we got the beignets which were unbelievable and we highly recommend them! Despite the little snafu with the steak warmth we will definitely go back. For anybody that likes whisky, they have over 140 types to choose from! Overall it was a great dining experience. "

  • "I love Oak and Ember. I would eat there once a week, if my wallet could handle it. My last visit was for my birthday dinner with a few friends. Our server was wonderful at being sneaky with my companions, putting out decoy dessert menus at the end of the meal while he prepared my favorite desserts with birthday candles. Every time I go, the manager (I assume) walks by the table and checks in during the meal. Even the bus person wished me happy birthday on my way out the door. I've never eaten anything there I didn't like. It's always clean, on the darker side (which I enjoy for ambiance), and everyone is friendly. Fantastic drink selection as well. LOVE IT THERE!"

  • "Oak & Ember is known for their tender, delicious steaks. If you have ever dined at Abe & Louie's or Smith & Wollensky in Boston, you will find this comparable. Their sides were also delicious, and prices for this level of dining were reasonable. Our server was top notch!! He was very knowledgeable concerning both the specials (describing them in detail) and the regular menu, as well as the wines and beers served. They also have an extensive "Whiskey Bar", and desserts to die for. The restaurant is in a shopping plaza, so no great views, but it is nicely decorated inside and is very convenient being in the center of Mashpee. All in all, a gem on the Cape, and worth a trip from other Cape Cod towns."

  • "We attended the Joseph Carr wine tasting / paring. I strongly recommend attending any such wine tasting event in the future. The pairings, both wine and food were "off the hook". All of the entrees were well planned and served hot, which is hard to do for multiple settings such as a wine tasting. The staff we well versed and the knowledge of their knowledge of what was coming out next was great. This is a must do event, and I know that my wife, business partner, his wife and I will not miss the next one!!!"

Our steaks were cooked to the requested temperature but the sauces were terrible. The grits were bad. Green beans were perfect. Service was very good in spirit but lacked some training.   • "My husband and I enjoy going to a nice dinner about once a month. We have eaten at the last 3 establishments on this property, all were great meals, but Oak and Ember is far superior. Finally, there is a steak restaurant on the cape who can do a perfect steak. The staff is attentive, and the service is quick, without feeling like you are being rushed through your meal. We will definitely be going back."

  • "Love the renovation and bar area. Neither my husband nor I are whiskey drinkers so their huge list of whiskeys was lost on us. The drumstick appetizers were tasty and quite meaty - a good portion for a group of 4. The fried green tomatoes seemed to have more breading than tomato. I ordered a veal steak special entree which was delicious - great flavor, tender and generous portion. My husband ordered the beef tenderloin and this is why I had to lower the general food rating. If you are going to specialize in steaks, they should be better than they were. One would expect good flavor and be tender as butter but it wasn't. The bar area is great - very cozy for a large area with lots of comfortable seating."
