We had a superb eating experience at O Ya. We decided on the 17 course tasting menu and were rewarded with a wonderful dining experience. My partner has eaten a lot of fine meals on numerous business trips and is no stranger to fine Japanese cuisine and loved the food at O Ya. While the dishes were not what you'd expect from a traditional Japanese restaurant, they were still nonetheless grounded in the Japanese tradition of ingredients, culinary techniques and presentation. The whole dining experience is flawlessly executed and the wait staff ( we were served by three different waiters) had extensive knowledge of the dishes and the ingredients. Expect a hefty bill but it is reflective of the quality of the dining experience.

My husband & I celebrated our belated 20th wedding anniversary here. We've been wanting to come here forever, and it was definitely worth the wait. To dine here is to witness a work of art from one sushi to the next. We each had the 17-course with wine/sake pairing, and the experience was magnificent. You almost didn't want to eat any of it because they looked too amazing to eat. The timing for each course was perfect. It allows one to enjoy not just the sushi themselves, but the lingering after-taste that makes you go "hmmm". We've gone to Nobu in West Hollywood a year ago, and sadly we were disappointed. O Ya, however, is in a class of its own. We look forward to coming back. To the chefs & Caitlin, thanks for the wonderful experience!

Service was excellent. They let me do 1/2 orders and 1/3 orders since I was by myself and wanted to try more things on the menu. Everything I had was probably the best preparation of the ingredients I have ever had. Highly recommend the foie gras kubayaki dish. I could have had that dish alone and been completely satisfied. I don't know if the prices are justified, but the food is so special - definitely worth trying once. I also enjoyed sitting at the counter to watch the sushi chefs work. They are all very friendly as well!

For sushi fanatics, this place is exceptional. Incredible food, perfect atmosphere, a large and attentive staff and a fantastic and eclectic music play list. Like no other sushi restaurant I have ever been to (and I have been to many of the top rated in the US). If you want a fantastic and unique dining experience, get the omakase - each course is like none I have ever had.

This was my fourth visit to O Ya. I reserve here whenever my travels bring me to Boston. I know of no other sushi experience in the country that is quite like it. Sitting at the bar and watching the chefs work their magic is an ongoing pleasure. The menu has many choices which allows one to select from many previously untasted options. The service is both friendly and helpful. Even though this is clearly a "high end" experience, the place is friendly and not intimidating. It is certainly expensive, but this is one of those rare experiences where the value justifies the cost. I look forward to my next visit.

The food was good, some were too salty to our taste. I was annoyed by the automatic 20% tip added to the bill with only a party of two. There is also a line for "additional tips." I usually give 20% tips after tax, but I feel quite annoyed being forced to do so.

Every dish that we had was excellent. Service was prompt. Had been to Nobu In NYC before had I would say that O Ya was somewhat better. We were seated at the counter and were able to see the actual prep of each dish. We chose ala carte instead of the prix fixe menu. I liked the better choices that were offered on the ala carte menu.

O Ya is like fine wine. Both aspire to be Gran Cru and sometimes they deliver a product that is slightly better for a substantial dollar premium that is usually not worth the difference paid and then sometimes they are just ordinary and over priced. The servers all seem to practice a form of amateur PSYOPS designed to implant the thought that what your about to receive is so sublime & unsurpassed that you'll still be happy when it's time for the check. O Ya may not have started this way but my impression is that they have swallowed and ran with the hype and are now happy doing the marketing driven smoke and mirrors shuffle. There are more exceptional and worthwhile establishments to supportinBOS. Recommended for the JAdeD ONe PeRCenTeRS.

Spent a 3-day getaway to Boston and O-ya is definitely a must place to visit. Sushi was delicious. I had the 17 piece Omakase and it did not disappoint. From the Oyster, to the Halibut, the truffles, to the waygu beef, it was an interesting array of food served with one of the best chefs i've ever seen. The servers are very knowledgeable and enthusiastic which matches the energy of the food served to you. Overall, it was a great experience and a definitely a place to checkout for great sushi!

Absolutely amazing dishes and sitting at the chefs table gave full access/view to the making/preparation. Great sake selection. Chose the chefs 17-course meal which provided a great range of different dishes. The place itself is small, but with a great atmosphere and the service was fantastic. They took the time to explain each individual meal helping to suggest/recommend different drink pairings and to get a better sense of what you liked/did not like. Only downside is the price - dinner for 2 ended up close to $1000 - even for a special occasion is a bit pricey. If I could afford it, I would eat here much more frequently.

Truly an amazing dining experience. We ordered around 14 items from the a-la-carte menu because there were some dishes that we just had to try that were not on the tasting menu. Definitely not your traditional Japanese meal, but a wonderful balance between traditional flavors and modern creative techniques. The only disappointment was desert and the fact that they don't allow personal wine. This is not a place for those that experience sticker shock when paying for a meal, but overall was an excellent experience. The service was also amazing and the staff were extremely friendly and helpful in providing some recommendations for the rest of our trip.

I just want to start by saying that this is definitely not something you expect to find in Boston. My husband and I wondered why they have not yet received their Michelin rating!!!! You need to be aware that this is a gastronomic experience you will encounter ... Flavors exploding in your mouth, incredible pairings of ingredients you would never imagine could be done ... Truly artistic!! And as such you also need to be prepared for the price to pay for such an experience!!! But it is worth every dollar!! The service was incredible ... I recomend it with no reservations!!!

Service was horrible. Both overly familiar and absent when you need them. Had the omakse and the pacing all wrong. At times interminable wait between courses and then some arrived within seconds of each other, at same time. Food was off. Fish was great and sauces were great but the sauces completely overpowered the fish. All I would taste is these sauces. At approx $10 per "taste" ($185 for 17 courses which is actually just one piece of sushi), I'd actually like to be able to taste my sushi. There is better out there these days.

Shockingly bad,,,,so disappointed ugh and to get the bill at almost $300 for my daughter and I pre-theater, left hungry, didn't like a thing we ordered, shrimp tempura (one fried shrimp with foamy bacon drippings really?) oily strange salad,,I asked the waitress to help us and recommend she tried to be helpful but all in all I would never return. My daughter and I had about three small plates each which consists of one bite per plate (with exception to the salmon). I am a General Manager of two restaurants, a boutique hotel and french bakery. I have been a 'foodie' most of my life, and was looking forward to this experience. Just awful. Not Open Tables fault tho! Thanks for letting me vent.

Add some butter, it's going to taste good.....foam this, foam that....add some micro greens..then you customers think you've created a masterpiece. Not so, the fish quality is poor. By taking a butane burner and adding some char to the fish, it's going to disguise the fish taste. ITS ALL ABOUT BUTTER !!!
