o ya lived up to its reputation as a very top tier restaurant. Superb, creative food. We had the tasting menu which came with 17 different items and did not feel that it was (too) over the top. Yes, its expensive. However, its worth deferring visits to other restaurants to fit this one into your budget.

Not sure if it was possible, but I feel like O Ya has gotten even better from the first few visits. It is a phenomenal eating experience. Highlights from this visit were: scottish salmon belly, anything with uni and the smoked wagyu beef. The food is excellent --and have come to expect that (abecause of prior visits). Another notable standout this time was our food guide, Michael L. Great meal. Worth it every single time. For anyone that has not yet been, it will help you re-think and re-shape your Boston experience while also transporting you to a more cosmopolitan place for dinner because O Ya elevates food to a Michelin Guide level.

O Ya surpassed our expectations even with all that we heard and read about the restaurant. My other half is a culinarian and she was completely blown away by the presentation and quality of the food. I will continue to recommend this restaurant as THE premier sushi/sashimi restaurant in the Great Boston area. Thank you for such a wonderful evening.

My wife and I celebrated our third anniversary at O Ya. The traditional third anniversary gift is supposed to be leather based. Since O Ya was in the leather district, it made for a fun connection. Since we have very small children, we did not get away this year. But it also gave us an excuse to splurge on the tasting. I will say that it was definitely worth the price of admission. The food was incredible. We were filled our bellies one delicious bite at a time. The waiter was awesome. Very attentive and friendly. It was an honor to have had real kobe. Well deserved for landing #1 on so many top restaurant lists of Boston.

We came to celebrate a special meal for my birthday. We sat at the bar and enjoyed watching every dish being made before our eyes, like watching a magic show..We had the tasting menu which was out of this world. O Ya is by far and away the best food I have ever had in Boston, and probably the best food I have ever had anywhere. We felt totally pampered. They even brought out tasting plate of deserts with a birthday candle at the end of our meal! Stellar!

We went with the 17 course tasting menu. Basically, think 17 pieces of sushi or equivalent. Sounds like a lot, but we weren't over-stuffed; it was just the right amount of food somehow. But for $185 per person it ought to blow you away. It was all delicious, but some of the "courses" were similar to what you get in any good sushi restaurant for much less money. If money is no object, go and enjoy!

We had a superb eating experience at O Ya. We decided on the 17 course tasting menu and were rewarded with a wonderful dining experience. My partner has eaten a lot of fine meals on numerous business trips and is no stranger to fine Japanese cuisine and loved the food at O Ya. While the dishes were not what you'd expect from a traditional Japanese restaurant, they were still nonetheless grounded in the Japanese tradition of ingredients, culinary techniques and presentation. The whole dining experience is flawlessly executed and the wait staff ( we were served by three different waiters) had extensive knowledge of the dishes and the ingredients. Expect a hefty bill but it is reflective of the quality of the dining experience.

My husband & I celebrated our belated 20th wedding anniversary here. We've been wanting to come here forever, and it was definitely worth the wait. To dine here is to witness a work of art from one sushi to the next. We each had the 17-course with wine/sake pairing, and the experience was magnificent. You almost didn't want to eat any of it because they looked too amazing to eat. The timing for each course was perfect. It allows one to enjoy not just the sushi themselves, but the lingering after-taste that makes you go "hmmm". We've gone to Nobu in West Hollywood a year ago, and sadly we were disappointed. O Ya, however, is in a class of its own. We look forward to coming back. To the chefs & Caitlin, thanks for the wonderful experience!

Service was excellent. They let me do 1/2 orders and 1/3 orders since I was by myself and wanted to try more things on the menu. Everything I had was probably the best preparation of the ingredients I have ever had. Highly recommend the foie gras kubayaki dish. I could have had that dish alone and been completely satisfied. I don't know if the prices are justified, but the food is so special - definitely worth trying once. I also enjoyed sitting at the counter to watch the sushi chefs work. This was my fourth visit to O Ya. I reserve here whenever my travels bring me to Boston. I know of no other sushi experience in the country that is quite like it. Sitting at the bar and watching the chefs work their magic is an ongoing pleasure. The menu has many choices which allows one to select from many previously untasted options. The service is both friendly and helpful. Even though this is clearly a "high end" experience, the place is friendly and not intimidating. It is certainly expensive, but this is one of those rare experiences where the value justifies the cost. I look forward to my next visit.

The food was good, some were too salty to our taste. I was annoyed by the automatic 20% tip added to the bill with only a party of two. There is also a line for "additional tips." I usually give 20% tips after tax, but I feel quite annoyed being forced to do so.

O Ya is like fine wine. Both aspire to be Gran Cru and sometimes they deliver a product that is slightly better for a substantial dollar premium that is usually not worth the difference paid and then sometimes they are just ordinary and over priced. The servers all seem to practice a form of amateur PSYOPS designed to implant the thought that what your about to receive is so sublime & unsurpassed that you'll still be happy when it's time for the check. O Ya may not have started this way but my impression is that they have swallowed and ran with the hype and are now happy doing the marketing driven smoke and mirrors shuffle. There are more exceptional and worthwhile establishments to supportinBOS. Recommended for the JAdeD ONe PeRCenTeRS.

Absolutely amazing dishes and sitting at the chefs table gave full access/view to the making/preparation. Great sake selection. Chose the chefs 17-course meal which provided a great range of different dishes. The place itself is small, but with a great atmosphere and the service was fantastic. They took the time to explain each individual meal helping to suggest/recommend different drink pairings and to get a better sense of what you liked/did not like. Only downside is the price - dinner for 2 ended up close to $1000 - even for a special occasion is a bit pricey. If I could afford it, I would eat here much more frequently.
