Diner Reviews
  • "We loved the craftsmanship that went into each dish and the chef's pride when presenting them to us. Very creative flavor and texture combinations you don't see in the Cincinnati food scene very often. We enjoyed the surprises in each course and the layered use of in-season local foods. The chef's love for creative cooking is apparent in every detail of this food."

  • "We loved the understated neutral elegance of this little restaurant. Our menu, an 8 course tasting was chosen by chef Mark after inquiring about allergies. Each course was beautifully presented and explained by our server, Samantha who was well versed in wine/beer pairings. All but two of the dishes were a home run and those were still not bad. I loved the delicately poached egg with country ham but my DH did not appreciate the room temp. egg. The duck, so tender and flavorful was served with roasted leeks and a berry reduction sauce. Roasted whole carrot with a cinnamon/bay leaf crust was served with a carrot/vanilla purée and was fabulous! It's a bit pricey, but worth it. Beautiful service and Chef Mark made his rounds. Nice touch!"

  • "I surprised my husband on his big milestone birthday with Nuvo, and the restaurant surprised the both of us with the menu-less 8-course dinning extravaganza with superb wine pairing! Love the concept and the innovative dishes, like savoring art of dining. Will certain go back for another surprising experience. This is not a place you'll find passing by the neighborhood; but it's the perfect place if you want to experience culinary art."

  • "This isn't dinner, it's an experience. Thought goes into every detail and the chef will push your palate boundaries. Since there is no menu then your meal is an extension of the chef who is a master of his art form. I highly recommend the wine pairing."

  • "This was our second visit to Nuvo and it did not dissapoint. The food was again amazing, the wine pairings perfect. Logan does an amazing job of explaining the wine he chooses for each course. The chef is so creative and the dishes prepared were all wonderful. Nuvo is a treat."

  • "Our dinner on Sat. night was the most unique and best dining experience I have had in Cincinnati. We had an 8 course dinner with generously poured wine pairings to match each course. The food was all incredibly well conceived, the wine was uniformly good, and the service was outstanding. We will definitely return although I am certain we will be disappointed because it will be impossible to top this experience."

  • "What a great place! Excellent food served by people who understand it and seem to really WANT to be there. Food is inventive and delicious."

  • "The food was stellar -- deliciously inventive. A breath of fresh air. The Chef took advantage of summer vegetables and fruits, showcasing them in interesting combinations. Several of the courses had foam and 'deconstruction' which was fun to guess his concept. A savory and a sweet course had 'smoke' which were presented beautifully. The wine pairings (we strongly recommend) were well chosen & ample pours. We received at the end a signed menu listing our dinner and paired wines which we are going to keep to remind us of a amazing meal."

  • "With no menu you must put your trust in the chef, but if you do you will be richly rewarded. Every dish was an explosion of tastes and smells. The portions were just the right size, to leave you room for the next wonderful surprise. Dinner took a few hours, so leave yourself time to enjoy the experience."

  • "I accidentally booked the wrong date for our reservation, and thankfully they were able to accomodate us since it was truly a wonderful dining experience. We ordered the full eight course dinner with wine pairings and we wouldn't have changed a thing. Service was impeccable and they made us feel like family. It was along the lines of Charlie Trotter's in Chicago, without the stuffiness."

  • "We had high expectations for Nuvo and unfortunately our experience fell flat. Food was delicious, service was poor and SLOW. I love a leisurely meal, but there were a few point during our dining experience where we had no food, wine or water for over 20 minutes. The pricing for the grand tasting was explained incorrectly, making our bill almost twice as much as we had anticipated. We don't mind paying for an incredible experience, but this was not one. That being said the food was very good and the wine pours were generous."

  • "This was the most notable dining experience I've had. Delivery of each course was like receiving a gift, I knew it was on it's way and could not wait to see what it was. Each course touched all senses and was a true delight. I also recommend the beverage pairing option to complete the experience."

  • "The staff was very attentive and the wine pairings were very good. The food presentation was creative and beautiful. I felt that they tried to have as many exotic food choices in each dish but sometimes the taste fell short. I like the pre-fixe concept. I will try it again."

  • "My husband and I loved our dinner at Nuvo. The food and wine pairings were fantastic! My only wish was for air conditioning! We will return but not on a hot summer evening!"

  • "I don't even know where to start. What an amazing experience! The food was perfect, the wine pairings were perfect and the experience more than perfect. We can't wait to go back."

  • "little known gem in Cincinnati. inventive tasting menu with perfect wine pairings. unlike other 5 star places in the city they do a great job of spacing the table so you can actually have a private conversation. The back patio was a such a cozy surprise."

  • "This was our second experience at Nuvo. We returned because our first experience was superior. On this occasion, we again ordered a multi- course (6) meal. The food was excellent, but nearly non-existent. The portions were unbelievably small. I'm not kidding when I say we went home hungry. We actually prepared a meal when we got home around 9:30. This is very difficult to justify when you're presented with a bill for $195...for 2 people. They were very generous with the wine, perhaps a bit too generous (we didn't order any additional wine beyond what came with our meal). With so little food, and so much wine, I really should not have driven home. Too much wine, too little food, for too much money."

  • "Nuvo's is a lovely, small, intimate restaurant with an original, well thought out menu and great wine to accompany the offerings. The tasting/ wine pairing option was a good choice. We were even given a glass of wine and relaxed in their new upstairs lounge for making reservations on Open Table."

  • "My husband and I were totaly satisfied with thier service and foods. I usually put the most importance on the atmosphere, the behavior of the waiter and waitress, and the taste of the foods when I dine out. We are pleased in every aspects. "

  • "Set course menu with farm-to-table ingredients. Enjoyed the carrot summer "soup" but found the sauces richer and more buttery than anticipating for summer time. Good variety of ingredients throughout the 6 course meal. Chocolate dessert a plus! Outdoor dining available but patio needs some aesthetic work. Friendly staff. Extensive wine list. "

  • "I truly appreciate what they are trying to do at Nuvo. I like the tasting menu idea and frequently order from it at restaurants. I like to be surprised. However, my experience there was not the best. One of the courses we had was seafood with asparagus. The server stated that it was their take on surf and turf. What? One of the other courses was so covered with greens that I felt I was eating actual grass. Most of the food was tasty. I just felt that their presentation was overly done for no reason. Too many of the courses were presented on thick pieces of wood. I like different place settings but it just felt like they ware trying way to hard to be clever when they don't need to be. Wine pairings were excellent. "

  • "The food was okay, nothing that wowed us. We ordered the six course pre fixe with wine pairings. The duck did not seem to be prepared properly. It was tough, fatty, and difficult to cut into. For the money that was spent, I would choose to go a different restaurant rather than return to this one. The wine pairings were matched well, and the service was very good. "

  • "Grasping for words to describe our 6 course dinner with wine pairings. Our daughter was in from Chicago and she is a foodie. I selected Nuvo as wanted someplace adventuresome and a place we had never been to. Logan and Lee provided excellent service and the creations from Chef were like nothing else in the Cincinnati area. My wife, our daughter and I talked for days after our evening out about the different flavors and dishes. The lack of online menu seemed to concern my wife, as she is a bit more conservative in her tastes, yet she was thrilled with the cuisine. Highly encourage you to go yo Nuvo. Incredible!"

  • "We went to Nuvo, and dined outside on the patio. We ordered the six course dinner with wine pairing. The wine complemented each course perfectly. We enjoyed the french champagne presented with the first course. The entrees were extremely delicious, unique, and present well with a flair. The service was outstanding. We will dine at Nuvo again! The restaurant is great for a special occasion or for an extraordinary evening out. Thanks again! Julie & Andy"

  • "Had the wine pairing with dinner and were completely blown away. Staff was knowledgeable but not stuffy. The anticipation over each course made it seem like an adventure. Id recommend an open mind to embrace the experience. I would not have selected any of the courses and yet was amazed when I found myself wanting to lick the plate clean."

  • "Some of the best food I've had in a long time. Did the 6 course with wine pairings. Portions were ideal for multi-course dinner and wine pairings were inventive. Amazing flavors with each dish."

  • "I went with a group of girlfriends for dinner and drinks, and had no idea what to expect. We had the four-course experience, and were amazed and impressed by the service, the presentation, the food, the flavors, and the wine. None of us had been there before, so we were excited to try it, and were in suspense waiting for each dish. The colors and flavors of the dishes were exceptional, and the locally grown foods made it even more enjoyable. I would highly recommend this for a dinner with friends, a date night, or anyone wanting to try something different. "

  • "The experience was exquisite. Each course a surprise that did not disappoint. Leisurely dinning, with no pressure to turn the table. After six courses we left the table satisfied, but with no sensation of being over served."

  • "We had an outstanding 6-course dinner for two, & one of us chose the wine pairings as well. Food was a refreshing change from what one often sees at trendy restaurants that go overboard w/ being hip in selection and/or presentation. NuVo clearly focused on flavor, variety, & freshness of food, plus comfortable and enjoyable wine pairings. Service was very good, & the atmosphere was relaxed and quiet. Piped-in music was at an acceptable volume level. I'd have preferred some jazz and (given the mid-19th century flavor of the space) some upbeat classical music. I'd recommend some Liszt, Chopin, Dvorak (especially), or Brahms. Overall it was a very enjoyable dinner and an anniversary experience that was pleasant and memorable. "

  • "Based on online buzz, we came to Nuvo for a special experience to celebrate our anniversary. This dinner exceeded our expectations in every way. We ordered the 6 course menu with wine pairings and were served two additional courses, including a deconstructed sushi starter and a smoking cigar box filled with truffles and meringues (which was served with siphoned coffee). Although every course was uniquely incredible, we can't stop thinking about the "Forest Floor", a dish with mushrooms, herbs, some type of edible pine, and all types of magic that created an experience rather than a simple food course. I honestly cannot recommend Nuvo highly enough for an imaginative meal for a special occasion."

  • "The best restaurant find on either side of the river. All I need to tell you is that there is no menu. You are afforded surprise after surprise from a marvelous chef and we left his restaurant with a feeling of satisfaction never experienced by any other meal in the area. "

  • "One of the best meals we've had lately. Simple, innovative and flavorful cuisine. The 6 course prix fixe is a must since as one of our server described it, it fills you nicely but you don't leave feeling you over ate. The plates are small plates and it is more a tasting each time that a full dish. Two things to which I would give less than an A+ are the desserts...can do better and the "small" dining room which sees a lot of traffic because of the location of the restroom in that very small room. Finally, offering a bit of bread would not hurt... Very friendly service and servers. Will definitely go back"

  • "This was a first for my husband and myself. We had never tried a restaurant where we did not select our food. Each course was plated beautifully and delicious. Service was very attentive. Wine suggestions were excellent as we did not choose wine pairings with this meal. Each course was a wonderful surprise. Am anxious to return with friends who will appreciate the out of the box style."

  • "This restaurant offers a fun dining experience in that you typically don't know what's coming your way. The food is by and large very well prepared but is, without question, creatively composed. The staff will afford you a great experience - informative and helpful but not intrusive."

  • "I don't mean to be harsh. I called before 2 see what fish or beef they had. We sat, we were given the drink menu &that was it. We could choose from a fixed. I said I needed a protein &veg. She said they could do greens but couldn't promise the main. If I wanted that I could pay ex. I opted for the 2fix &my spouse the 4fix. Then ea person MUST get the same #of courses. She asked the chef. NO. I paid $45 for a 4fix when eating 2. I said I needed fish or beef due to diet restrictions. I got greens w/PORK. A chef decides how much U eat &what U LIKE. We had wine pairings, brought before food,by the time u get 2 eat,u don't taste together or u can look at a taste &I'm sure the amt=a glass &it was an ext $25. Way too $$ for the small amt of food."

  • "Lacking a liquor license is a negative. No bar available. That being said this was one of the best meals I've ever had! The Prix fix menu was a surprise at each course. Chef Mark has the ability to drag the flavor out of each ingredient making surprisingly flavorful combinations. We had the six course menu, the portions sizes were appropriate for six courses; each complimenting the other. Each was a surprise and that added to the dining experience. Presentations were artful and really added to the dining experience. We would wholeheartedly recommend to most of our friends save those who prefer quantity vs. quality!c"
