Will ReturnVery nice addition to Harvard Square. Liked it the first time I went and enjoyed it again last night. The apps are the best part of the dining experience. Then drinks. Then food.6/15/2013 12:00:00 AMThe food was excellent andThe food was excellent and our server was great. Will return many times.6/1/2013 12:00:00 AMhad a great dinner beforehad a great dinner before an ART performance. Staff very helpful in getting us through dinner in time and food was very good.5/21/2013 12:00:00 AMunexpectedly goodI am sometime skeptical of restaurants that are attached to hotels but in this case I was very pleasantly surprised. The evening was great. The decor is great, comfortable and modern. Food was excellent too. our table had the shrimp app, very tasty with a bit of a bite. Lamb, Salmon and some of the smaller items off the menu rounded out dinner and everyone was pleased with their choice. It got a little loud but at 8 on a Saturday that is to be expected. Would absolutely go again.5/18/2013 12:00:00 AMExcellent as alwaysRemarkably good food and considerate service. This is one of the best hotel restaurants in the Boston area. In the dark ages, this was the location of a second-rate eatery, but it's risen to the top of the list. Great burgers, great fries, if you want bar food, excellent entrees if you want something more elegant.5/10/2013 12:00:00 AMSurprising little gem . . .Don't be fooled by the locale - the Sheraton Commander Hotel. Dining at Nubar was a wonderful experience. The clam chowder was the best I have ever eaten - my compliments to the chef!! The menu is diverse enough to please every guest in your dining party. The drink and wine list is top shelf. I look forward to my next visit.5/4/2013 12:00:00 AMHad another great experienceHad another great experience at Nubar. We came before the rush on Friday night, and our server couldn't have been more attentive. She was fantastic, don't remember her name though, but seemed to know just when we needed another drink, more water, or order something else. Posted nearly a year ago and wanted to just follow up by saying they don't disappoint, wonderful menu choices and great service. Huge plus, you can valet in the private lot for the hotel, which Nubar is attached to. Only $10 for validated parking. Worth every penny if you don't want to drive around the neighborhood looking for on street or go into the city and spend 3x that on parking.5/3/2013 12:00:00 AMNice place to enjoy a relaxedNice place to enjoy a relaxed dinner and focus on our friends. Enough energy in the room to make it a fun atmosphere, but we could still hear each other. Menu had just enough variety, healthy portions and attractively presented. Service just right, checking in without being obtrusive.4/26/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat Dining ExperienceDelicious Food, Friendly Service, Warm setting. Cant wait to go back.4/11/2013 12:00:00 AMHad a lovely and deliciousHad a lovely and delicious brunch at Nubar. I will definitely be back again!4/7/2013 12:00:00 AMA fine dinner in a handsome settingWe arrived and were greeted cordially by the maître d' who took our coats and settled us in a chic, handsomely understated side room where we could actually talk without shouting and hear each other perfectly. For this, alone, I loved the place. My roast duck breast came in an excellent sauce, with risotto that included crushed pistachios, braised endives, and roasted root vegetables. My dinner companions both has rolled, stuffed sole about which they were enthusiastic. My dessert was a flourless chocolate torte with raspberry that was creamily rich and full flavored.
Our waitress was very pleasant but frequently non-attentive. She did not check with us enough and we found ourselves hailing other wait staff if we needed something.4/6/2013 12:00:00 AMParticularly appreciativeParticularly appreciative of vegetarian offerings, and black bean soup was a favorite among those who chose vegetarian. Liked the fact that our table was to the side and not right in the middle. It gave us a chance to visit without feeling we were on display. Very nice.4/6/2013 12:00:00 AMStopped in for a light supperStopped in for a light supper just after a nearby concert. The sandwiches are very good, the fries superior! This time I tried the pulled pork and the BBQ sauce was a little sweet for my taste, but it was otherwise extremely well-prepared. I love those fries. I probably won't order this particular sandwich again, but I know I'll be a frequent visitor. It's really a terrific place for major entrees and lighter fare. And the service is always great.4/5/2013 12:00:00 AMWe enjoyed our first visitWe enjoyed our first visit to Nubar. Food was very good, reasonably priced, the wine, by the glass, was generous. We liked the little carafe servers. We appreciated the low noise level and the attractive decor. We definitely will return. Look forward to your outdoor dinning.4/4/2013 12:00:00 AMwe had a great meal at Nubar,we had a great meal at Nubar, our second good experience at this underappreciated restaurant. Our server was knowledgeable, made helpful recommendations for us, and was just the right mix of attentive without being intrusive. Food was very good for 3 of us, and the 4th pronounced his steak as excellent.3/22/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat restaurant, not tooGreat restaurant, not too loud. Good service, good food, will go again.3/16/2013 12:00:00 AMWe only recently found outWe only recently found out Nubar has a Sunday brunch buffet. We tried it recently and found it reasonably priced and very tasty indeed. The dishes are prepared with locally sourced (when possible) and seasonal (again, wherever possible) ingredients. They have a carving station and omelet bar, plus an assortment of fruits, pastries, breads, and homemade granola. They had some beautiful salads, smoked salmon, delicious hot dishes, and a very nice quiche. A small selection of delicious desserts rounds out the offerings. It's nice that the selection is not so huge that you can't try a bit of everything, but it's certainly extensive enough to satisfy everyone. On the day we went, it was nice and low-key. We'll be back!3/3/2013 12:00:00 AMWe tried this restaurant withWe tried this restaurant with a coupon for dinner for two.
We really enjoyed the restaurant. The food was excellent and imaginatively prepared and plated. We will definitely go back to this restaurant.2/22/2013 12:00:00 AMI actually did not have highI actually did not have high hopes for this restaurant, just because of its location in a chain hotel. But it was better than I expected. I actually rate it closer to a 3-1/2 than a four, but it seemed mean to give it a three ranking for that reason. My salad was very good and was well dressed. The dressing was good and there was the proper amount to dress it without drowning it. My scallops and my husband's duck were also good. The scallops and the sides with the scallops could have been seasoned somewhat more, to be more flavorful, but they were cooked nicely. The desserts were also good, though not great. Christina's caramel ice cream was very good, but, of course, it's Christina's, not Nubar's.2/22/2013 12:00:00 AMA favorite dinner spot, thisA favorite dinner spot, this time we arrived after a concert. The "bar menu" is excellent. Great burgers, hot sandwiches. We ordered one side dish--brussels-sprouts--which arrived almost when we were through eating. But we weren;t charged for them. They were excellent.2/1/2013 12:00:00 AMWent to Nubar on a very crowdedWent to Nubar on a very crowded night, but the food was still excellent. Nice to see the crowd, too. Glad this place is catching on--it deserves to. My only reservation is that one of the entrees was closer to room temperature than piping hot. I'm blaming the crowd (there was a concert at the church next door), but this is happening at too many restaurants.1/18/2013 12:00:00 AM
