  • "Service was fantastic, wine menu was great, but food was aweful, had a pizza and it was just sloppy and watery and not appealing at all. Would not attend again"

  • "It was a really hot Vancouver night, so off to Pizza and the movies. So convenient to have them both next door. We've been there recently and had a great beet salad, their DOP Marguerita pizza, which was absolutely best Marguerita pizza I can remember. Perfect. But the cannoli! Fabulous! Made to order, so they don't get soggy, dipped each end in pistachio. Heaven! We sat in our favourite area (by the wine cellar area). It was 5:30 pm (going to a 7:30 movie, so don't like to be hurried when we eat). Looking for our next movie so we can go back for the pizza and cannoli again. Soon!"

  • "My boyfriend and I decided to try this place out on a Friday The atmosphere was somewhat fancy but not overly pretentious. The waiter was prompt, and informative. We ordered the Proscuitto & Argula and special Margherita pizza (higher quality cheese). I ordered a glass of Prosecco which was decent, however I could have splurged for an appy for the price of the drink! The ingredients were extremely fresh and flavours were nice however the pizza was cold when we received it. We understood that the pizza is only cooked for a short time in the wood-burning oven however we expected some warmth on arrival which is why we took off a star. The pizzas were decently sized and we liked the thin crust. Next time will likely check out the pastas/salads."

  • "Went with a group of friends to celebrate a birthday and had a nice table on the patio. Every dish had a nice surprising twist that I wasn't expecting (except the pizza, which was excellent anyway and didn't need a "twist" to impress), from the olives and cheese on the charcuterie board to the dessert. Our group decided to share two creme brûlées after our meal, which I have to say, were the most interesting and yummy brûlées I've ever had. They had a little gift at the bottom under the custard layer, some smooth paste with such a delicious flavour and texture we couldn't get enough. It was almost like a soft French kiss. I have been here before and always really enjoy the pizza, but this latest visit really made me very happy."

  • "Pleasant, attentive service; good, affordable food; relaxed and friendly atmosphere."

  • "Our waiter knew the menu well and was able to describe the dishes. Everything was fresh. The flavour combinations for the pizzas were excellent (barrata and proscuitto with arugala). The only disappointment was the caesar salad. It was a bit tasteless. The panzanella salad was wonderful. The hazelnut creme brulee was a perfect way to end a delicious, relaxed meal."

  • "There were only a few other covers while we were dining. The only complaint was the that music was too loud making it hard for some of my colleagues to hear the conversation around the table. Almost all had salads which looked great and the truffle pasta was delicious. Service was done by one person who was a little stretched with our table of 6 and 3 other tables. But she did a good job."

  • "The golden beet salad was good though rather expensive, with the beets playing a prominent role (no "where's the beet" with this one). We also shared the mushroom pizza, zipped up with added chili oil and pepper flakes, and the creme brulee with orange granita. Service was fine, though it took longer than expected to get the dessert and the bill, and we made it to the movie next door just in time."

  • "My ideal evening is a movie at the 5th Avenue theater and dinner at Novo. I have yet to find another place that makes pizza that tastes so good. I am always excited to bring a friend to try out the food. Keep up the delicious work. I am a regular."

  • "I found the restaurant to be charming and very quaint. It did remind me in some ways of the places I visited in Tuscany. The food is really good and genuine Italian. The server was very skilled, unfortunately very busy and so not so attentive. So European. A good night though."

  • "We went to Novo for a romantic casual date night. The service was excellent and the food was memorable, as usual. We started with an inspired caprese salad with amazing balsamic pearls on top -wow, yummy. The pizza "special" was perfect and delicious. Their wood-fired pizza is the BEST in Vancouver. Then a perfect al denté spaghetti ai olio. The bar tender helped us pick a great Italian red blend. Great meal, great price. We'll be back again soon!"

  • "The pizzas are handmade and absolutely delicious. So many choices and they're all so good. They had a hazelnut creme brûlée that was to die for. They even have a monthly wine club to celebrate wines from different regions of Italy. I'll definitely be back to this place for more."

  • "We dined at Novo Pizzeria on Mother's Day. There were a number of large groups there but the service was great and the food was delicious. The restaurant also sits next to a beautiful public garden."

  • "One of my favorite things to do is: go see a movie at the Fifth Avenue Theatre then dine next door at Novo. Every pizza is delicious, the house salad is a must; add a glass of wine and its a perfect evening. Their creme brulle is a prize winner. "

  • "Food is fresh and delicious, service is great. We had a fantastic dinner. This is one of our best restaurant in Vancouver."

  • "Great food and service. It is to noisy but I don't know what you can do about that. "
    Dined on 5/9/2014
  • "The overall environment in the restaurant could be spruced up to make it a little less cafeteria-like. The windows could use a good cleaning as there were fingerprints and marks on the doorway. The salad was very good and our pizzas were okay - nice and crispy on the rim, however the crust was soggy in the middle. The set selection of pizzas was fairly small. You can add various toppings for a price. Our server was extremely pleasant and helpful."

  • "No menus given when we were seated, 2 pizzas ordered, only one pizza arrived , two ordered, and when 2nd pizza arrived it was the wrong one, had to be ordered again, so much for a dinner with a friend, bad all around."

  • "Awesome pizzas and salads, huge meatballs like Nonna never made, and a variety of wines to match. Dessert presentation was gorgeous. Busy for before cinema, so reservations are advised. Open kitchen makes for a bright feel, and the pizzas are authentic. Noise level is moderate, and service attentive and genuine. Not fancy or pretentious, but delicious. Patio is perfect on a balmy evening in summer."

  • "Attentive service with good food - we have been meeting for dinner before the 5th Avenue theatre for years. We meet for a quick dinner before the movie and then return to debrief over coffee and desert. Novo accomodates us easily through on-line reservations, location and reliable attentive service with some really great specials to choose from! "

  • "This is one of two pizza places that we frequent that offer wood fired pizzas. You have to try the potato pizza!"

  • "This is my wife's and my favourite restaurant in town. Best margarita pizza in Vancouver - at least since our trip from Sorrento! Great staff. Great wine. Great atmosphere. We are always recommending it to friends We try no to come TOO often because it's special. But whenever we do it's always something to look forward to."

  • "The pizzas at Novo are very good. Traditional Italian style pizzas that have a great mix of flavours. Wouldn't have minded a few more menu options for the more carnivorous but what we had was excellent. The salads and appetizers were also a big hit with our group. The service was excellent, a mix of old world respect with a good sense of humour to keep things light, but without imposing."

  • "Novo delivers their menu items to perfection. This restaurant repeatedly delivers a high quality of pizza, salads and Italian foods. The meatballs are superior as was the antipasto platter. Will be ongoing patrons."

  • "Very good - highly recommended except for the loud-ish techno music that was completely inappropriate for the setting. Otherwise, a great Italian restaurant experience - great food with attentive service from a number of servers. Many nice little touches. Except for the very odd choice of music for a Valentine's day evening."

  • "We made early reservations because it was Valentines Day and we figured they'd be busy. It was still fairly quiet when we arrived at 5:30, but it quickly became clear that they were anticipating a crowd and wanted us out of the way. Service was head-spinning fast--food and drink arrived within 2 minutes of ordering. I'm not even sure how they got the food ready so quickly! Sadly, our server tended not to check in on us during the meal, so I was unable to turn in the drastically over salted calimari. By the time someone came to clear the plates, the evidence had been eliminated by my sodium addicted spouse. We'll go back again, as I'm sure this eve was an anomaly, but this visit was not up to their usual standard."

  • "Very average. The pizza was ok. Everything was just kind of plain, from the ambiance to the food and service. Menu was expensive for the quality of food. Much better options all over Vancouver. Skip it."

  • "Staff very friendly. Food delicious. Not elegant white linen service, but certainly very good neighborhood restaurant. Very busy at times as it gets pre-cinema crowd! Book on Open Table, or head to the Issa place west of Burrard on the north side of 4th."

  • "It's hard for me to hate a fresh gourmet pizza but this one just did not cut it. The crust was way too thin and on some pizzas got soggy. You could not pick up your pizza by hand and eat it because the slice would droop down and all the toppings would slide off. Eating with a fork and knife was just as difficult because the crust was paper thin and again, all the toppings slid off. We ordered 4 different types of pizza and there was nothing I would go back for. Too bad, I love gourmet pizza and was hoping to have a great place to visit close to home. We had the diavolo, the potato pizza, the Margherita from the specials sheet, and the salami with olives."

  • "The food here is excellent. They always have fabulous specials and for starters would recommend the antipasta platter . it has their home made grilled bread with tasty treats. The pizzas are the best in town and the service always friendly and professional . Our go to place after a movie next door."

  • "Dropped in for a light lunch. Everything was absolutely wonderful. It was a little bit pricey for a quick lunch but we were very happy to pay it because the food was excellent. We look forward to returning for dinner."

  • "Food, atmosphere and friendly service is always great at Novo! My wife and I like going to grab a quick meal before a movie! Normally the service is great but this one time I have a suspicion our Pizza order was misplaced as it took much much longer to receive our main meal and was only served after a request. Once the request was made it was served in a reasonable amount of time. We love the staff, the food and the atmosphere of Nova."

  • "Great little spot to eat in Vancouver. Wine choices are good. Pizzas are delicious. Salads are delightful. Only negative is the coffee. Often tastes burnt or charred. They need to upgrade their coffee."

  • "My wife and I showed up extremely early for our reservation New Years Eve when our movie was sold out. The staff accommodated us and sat us at the bar. Bartender Bryan was very knowledgeable and friendly and we started with a nice Chianti and a fabulous antipasto plate accompanied by fire roasted bread from the pizza oven, so good for spreading the roasted peppers, hot olives and garlic. When a table became available we were moved, but close to the bar, and Bryan continued to serve us. We shared a fresh crisp Caesar salad and a tasty pasta. The attention we received from Bryan and the rest of the staff was just right, not intrusive but well delivered. I had not previously thought of Novo as a destination eatery, but I do now. Well Done!"
