Diner Reviews
  • "I brought my clients here following a meeting and thought that it was beautifully decorated and provided a variety of different seating arrangements. We sat in a circular booth that provided privacy from other patrons. We enjoyed every bit of our lobster sliders and calamari appetizers. I had a coconut martini and it was very nice. All were happy with their meal selections - Shrimp Scampi and the Chilean Seabass. The atmosphere was so inviting that we stay longer than we initially anticipated. Our meal, which began at 5:45 pm ended on or about 9:00 pm. I located this restaurant on Open Table and I'm quite pleased with my dining experience at Novita Wie Bar Trattoria."

  • "Very good lunch. Food was excellent. Only complint is that it took an hour for our food to be served which is way too long for lunch."

  • "My husband and I meet up with friends for brunch on Sundays and Novita was recently recommended to us. For $20 plus tax & tip you get unlimited mimosas, screwdrivers, bloody marys, coffee/tea as long as you're still eating. The menu had lots of choices and our group was pretty satisfied with our meals. You also get one basket of complimentary muffins which were pretty tasty. I would go back again but still prefer nearby City Cellar for their jazz brunch."

  • "I ordered the scallop special it was delicious. The food came out within ten minutes of the order. The creme brulee was unbelievably good. Our server was excellent as well. The place was really hopping at 10p on a Saturday. Would definitely return."

  • "The Spinach Ravioli came to the table cold with virtually no spinach. The Tiramisu was all cream - no cake. The decaf coffee was non-drinkable and it all cost over one hundred dollars. The music was more for a club setting than a diner one. We will not return to this restaurant."

  • "This was my first time (and a first date) at Novita. We both had a great time. The food was wonderful, the wine was great, and our server, Jackie, was perfect. I really appreciated how nice, energetic, fun, and thoughtful Jackie was throughout our dinner at Novita. She helped me make substitutions for my meal (since I cannot have gluten), and her recommendations we great. I really liked Novita, and I'm sure I'll be back!"

  • "Incredible wine list and wonderful prix fixe special menu. Will definitely go back."

  • "We went to Novita for an early dinner on a Friday night. There was a very big bar crowd and the dining room gradually filled up. It was very noisy but cheerful. Our waitress could not have been nicer and the food was very good. I would say that there was a big "Happy Hour" component and dining spill over. Prices were very reasonable for food and wine list. Not a place for a romantic dinner. Lunches here are also very good."

  • "Second time to this restaurant. Excellent wine selection. Food was less memorable. Great service and atmosphere."

  • "I was so excited to go here because I had heard such great reviews. Well let's just say I was very disappointed! I thought we were going to have a romantic dinner on Valentine's but upstairs is all bar scene... The lobster sliders were good. I had the lobster pappardelle which was okay, not sure what all the hype was about? My husband had the bolognese which he really enjoyed. For dessert he had the marscapone-pistachio- caramel gelato and said it was heavenly, I tried the Nutella creme brûlée but I did not taste the Nutella. It tasted like a chocolate creme brûlée. All in all, the food was good not great. The atmosphere is loud on the upper level. I would go back with friends but definitely not with my husband for a romantic dinner for 2."

  • "I went there expecting really excellent food and service. However, compared to some other Italian restaurants where we have previously dined, this one was not up to the mark. The food was good but the service was disappointing. The waiter forgot to bring the drink. Then we had to ask for cutlery and so went the story though out the night. We will be not be visiting it again."

  • "We met up for dinner with some friends we hadn't seen in awhile, and while our food was quite good, the Saturday night crowd was quite noisy, making catchup conversation a little tough. The tables in the front room are close together, the surfaces are hard, and the sound just bounces. That said, the cocktails were good, the food was tasty (although on the expensive side -- I mean, $16 for fried calamari; $19 for lasagna??), and it was a nice evening."

  • "I was very excited to try this place as I am new to the neighborhood, but I was very disappointed. The service was horrible- we did not see our waiter til about 20 minutes after we were seated... And then another 30 minutes went by until he came for our order (after bringing us a mimosa, which was another name for orange soda- no alcohol in it whatsoever) The brunch special menu had tons of options, but the 3 things we ordered were close to inedible. The place seemed a little dirty and dingy, which is why I don't understand the hype. I will MAYBE try it one more time and order off the regular menu. As a first experience, it lacked in everything."

  • "Daughter's selection for her birthday dinner. We've been here often for special occasions. Food is creative and often great. Service is disturbingly casual. No excuse for a restaurant of this caliber to have a waiter chewing gum. Great deserts."

  • "Novita is a great place for lunch/brunch. I have dined there before and have always had a great experience. The service this time around was a little slow but I noticed that there was a bridal shower also happening at the same time my friend and I were having lunch. Whenever possible, make a reservation."

  • "Ok....so it was great because we are wine drinkers and although we didn't want a full bottle, we could order our favorite wine by the glass. We ordered the Pappardelle Bolongese and it was very sweet...almost as if it tasted like a bbq sauce. The Bolognese was meaty and if it could've been truer to it's name it would've been amazing! The service was great, nice apps at the bar and great atmosphere.... Great place after holiday shopping...."

  • "I have been to Novita quite a few times and always enjoy the food and vibrant dining experience. One of my favorite things to do is just sit in the bar area and have the truffle pizza with a few drinks. Also this restaurant has a commendable prix-fixed menue during the week that is awesome. I highly recommend this restaurant."

  • "great bargan for lunch...the special... food is very good and cheaper than your average garden city deli!"

  • "The food was very good, but the noise level was much too high. This was our first visit and we were put off by the noise, the bad table we were given and the bar atmosphere. We would go again for the food and service, but will probably not return because of the other reasons listed."

  • "Went Saturday Night, everything was perfect! We are planning to go back on a Sunday or Monday, they have 50% bottles of wine and they have a huge wine list ."

  • "Had brunch on Saturday. Lots to order on the menu. Food was good. Service provider was not very attentivre. We had to ask for coffee."

  • "Overall a nice night. The food selection is generous for all palettes and the wine list goes on and on. A great little spot in Garden City. Good/Bad depending on how you see it, it's right next to another truly amazing restaurant Waterzoii. It can be a tough choice between the two!"

  • "I've been here for dinner several times for several different occasions - girls nights, my moms birthday and now just a romantic date with my boyfriend. The service was great, we didn't feel rushed, the waitress was. Rey helpful with voices in the menu - out eyes were bigger then our stomachs and so much looked so good we wanted to try it all. It's also great that on a Friday night they have a DJ so if you don't want to go home right after dinner, just hang out by the bar. Novita is a great time with great food no matter what occasion you're going for."

  • "Awesome restaurant. Great food, very quick service. Got our entrees very quickly after ordering and everything was warm and delicious. Waiter was very attentive and helpful with wine choices for our group of 8. A bit pricy but you can find cheaper options on the menu."

  • "We were able to get a reservation rather quickly. The hostesses were very friendly, we sat down and they brought us a paper bag folded nicely with bread in it and some dipping oil. The waiter was friendly and we ordered wine and beer to drink. If you like wine, this is the place to be. We ordered a mini rice ball platter called arancini and for dinner, we both had a pasta dish with black ink pasta, which was cooked perfectly. For desert, we had the zeppolies and a chocolate soufle, which was amazing. Overall the food was amazing and I will be going back. They had a lot of funky things that are interesting. Only downsides: Some portions are really tiny for the price. I know it's a fancy place, but not everything was so small."

  • "It was the first time we were at Novita Wine Bar. We were pleasantly surprised with the price fixe menu which I historically never do but both what I and my boyfriend wanted was on the menu. He had the penne vodka which was excellent- all be it small portion- but very good.I had the roasted herb chicken which was good. We both got the Caesar salad to start which was excellent and the Nutella tiramisu for dessert was great and just enough to satisfy a craving for something sweet. The ambience was not great- too dark and music was loud but the food made up for it along with the great service"

  • "This is the first time I had dinner here. I have been here for a happy hour before. I met friends for dinner and we had the price fix dinner. The variety was very good. I had the pappadelle. It was very tasty and I enjoyed it very much. I will return to this restaurant."

  • "We go to Novita often for dinner and have a consistent great time and dinner. I have tried all the appetizers and they are all reliable and consistently good. I have tried all the pastas and love them. Lately I have been getting the lobster sliders for my entree with a great salad to start. I like all of them. They also have terrific seafood fra diabolo but recommend for smaller eaters to share. Also, if you go there from Sunday to Thursday there is usually a special 3 course dinner with most of them at 19.95 which is a great deal. Chicken and Salmon is a little higher. Highly recommend."
