  • "What a wonderful secret outdoor hideaway right in the heart of Columbus Circle. I always like the spot but what a big improvement with the new furniture. Alas, the quality of the food was seriously disappointing. The lobster burger was greasy and bland, and so unappetizing to look at. The Rigatoni with Meatballs had a BBQ flavor that would be best left off the menu. The French Fries were a savior so I guess the thing to do is get drink at the lovely bar and order a side of fries. I live in the neighborhood and was hoping for much more from JG. You can do so much better by just sticking to basic flavors. Service was great, as usual."

  • "Much better than last time we went a few months ago. We had the salmon with crispy rice appetizer. Excellent. Also the calamari-good but too salty. My entree was the filet mignon-excellent, cooked to correct med rare as I requested. He had the lobster-very good. Dessert was not great-we split the cherry sundae but it was way too tart for us. Wine list was fabulous. We sat outdoors and loved the ambiance. Service was spot on; lovely staff. We will be back."

  • "My wife loves dining outdoors. I don't. But we recently had dinner outdoors on the Nougatine Terrace at Jean-Georges, a patio shielded from street gawkers by high shrubbery. The meal was delightful. The kitchen, of course, is the same as the one for Jean-Georges, one of the city's top gourmet palaces (which charges a lot more money), and the food is terrific. (Dessert was merely very good. Everything else was outstanding.) Tables aren't jammed together, and servers are professionals. My only complaint is that a three-course dinner inexplicably took 2-3/4 hours. It was pleasant eating outdoors while the sun set, but I got impatient. Even so, I'll return gladly, weather permitting."

  • "Service very professional and pleasant although a little too fast but manageable. Beautiful outdoor dining/drinks. Food outstanding! strongly recommend."

  • "Lunch was great. Best shrimp salad ever. Snapper and chicken also wonderful as well as desserts. Don't miss that famous warm chocolate cake. Service was fantastic."

  • "They served us sparkling water beside our dinner. The waiter donate again our glasses with sparkling without asking us. We received the cheque and we have to pay two bottles of sparkling water for 2 asked glasses of sparkling water and two je asked glasses of Sparklimg. This kind of service is very disappointed of a well known restaurant."

  • "Probably one of the top 5 restaurants we've ever been too! We did the price fix menu. The shrimp salad was amazing. My party had the snapper, salmon and chicken. Each were absolutely superior. My son loved the warm chocolate cake. A truly memorable experience. We will be back!"

  • "I reserved Nougatine Terrance at 7:30pm. Didn't get seated until 50 mins later - can't figure out why and wasn't offered an explanation. It took waiters/waitress forever to come to our table for everything - really - is Nougtaine really that under-staffed? The food is merely okay for its reputation but the service is sub-par. There are plenty of other well-deservicing restaurants in NYC that have better food and service. Do not waste your money and time here."

  • "It was my first time at the Terrace and it was well worth the trip from downtown. The salmon and salads were great not to mention their famous chocolate cake. The ambiance is nice too, including regulars, business partners as well as some coupes. The place is good for lunch dinner and just drinks."

  • "The ladies at liunch in our party loved the restaurant week great value for excellent food. Service was very attentive. Flounder fish was fresh, flavorful and cooked just right. The original chocolate lava cake the chef created is still much better than the copies. It has been consistently exciting. Watermelon gazpacho was refreshingly delicious as delightful. I was the only one who had the peach dessert which was a bit too sour and quite ordinary. The organic chicken entree was delightful with a hint of curry. Somehow we felt comfy at the Terrace but also felt we were shooed into the section by not entering through the restaurant."

  • "We celebrated a birthday on the terrace despite dark clouds overhead. It was great food and service! The space was NYC and private at the same time."

  • "We started outdoors, but when the sun came out we were getting sunburned!Fortunately there was seating indoors and we moved. The food was good, especially the watermelon gazpacho."

  • "Came with high expectations. Wasn't helped by a dominatrix table of four high-maintenance euro-trash buys flogging the service team."

  • "Had the tasting menu with the wine pairing on Thursday night (7/24/14). Basically, nothing special I haven't tasted before, so the point of the tasting menu was lost on me. Should be called "tasted before" menu. The bright spot was the wine pairing choices; but it was not on the menu and I'm glad I inquired about it. The riesling chosen to accompany the first dish was spot on. Service was well paced and pleasant. Ambience was wonderful (we dined on their terrace)."

  • "Very disappointed. My friend and I came in for restaurant week. We had dined at other Jean George restaurants downtown and enjoyed the experiences, so decided to try Nougatine. Service was lackluster and extremely slow. The pacing of the overall meal was haphazard and we waited an uncomfortably long time in between courses. The server had to actually apologize several times and kept saying that the chefs were "slammed" by restaurant week demand. Having only offered two different dishes per course, we thought that it would be easier for kitchen to just produce multiple dishes at once since everyone was ordering pretty much the same thing (they did offer several a la carte dishes from their regular menu). Food was uninspired."

  • "I thoroughly enjoyed Nougatine. All three of us ordered from the Restaurant Wk menu. Two ordered the fish and one ordered the chicken option. Each was cooked to perfection. Every course was flavorful without being overpowering. The staff was very accommodating and friendly. I thought this high-end eatery might be stuffy but it was not. There was a balance of elegant, thoughtful service. The reception staff was exceptionally friendly. Jean George was there and spoke with a few diners, which was surprising since it was a Wednesday evening. It was NYC dining at its best and Restaurant Wk made it very affordable."

  • "The Restaurant Week menu dishes were delicious and a very good deal. We've been to Jean George and this is a good option when desiring a more informal dinner."

  • "Great, attentive, friendly service and good food (on the salty side this time in general). The only downside was that I couldn't see my food that well once the sun went down even with the candle lights."

  • "The cucumber yogurt soup with a kick was a bit too spicy for our taste...it would have been better if it wasn't so spicy."

  • "Service was spot on and food was amazing. We had great weather which added to the ambience."

  • "As overseas visitors we checked the law in relation to under 21 drinking in advance of traveling. Nougatine refused to serve my daughter >18 years to drink a glass of wine, even though it was within the law once we as her parents ordered/paid for it. The manager said it didn't matter what the law was , it was their policy. The food was very disappointing and the staff noticed we were less than enthralled as evidenced by our full plates at the end of the meal, but did not address it by speaking to us instead they presented desserts ( we did not want). They simply bought off the discomfort of a complaint by presenting "the consolation" of desert."

  • "We had a nice dinner, with friendly but spotty service, and the food was good, although not as hot as should have been. But with the least expensive glass of Chardonnay at $ 29, I think we will be finding other places to frequent !"

  • "Food was excellent! The foie gras was prepared extremely well. The drinks (cucumber martini and passion whiskey sour) were some of my favorites in the city."

  • "We were two families having the prix fixe lunch menu on a hot summer day, all seated comfortably in the shade. Most important, the food was excellent. Selcted dishes included tuna tartare and calamari, organic chicken, carameized bass and cheeseburger. Our only slight complaint has to do with the service. While our main waiter was really kind and helpful throughout, it was at times quite difficult to get hold of him or others, for instance to get more wine or water. As the number of waiters seemed quite high, it left the impression of the restaurant being slightly disorganised. In short, it was not a question of attitude problems but rather managerial shortcomings."

  • "Beautiful spot for outdoor dining, and great to be able to order Jean-Georges' gorgeous food a la carte so the meal doesn't have to cost a fortune. His tuna tartare is the best ever, and the pea soup is perfect..."

  • "Delicious food (reasonably priced and the prix fixe lunch was very satisfying!) and the service was great. It was a hot day and even then it was still very enjoyable."

  • "Service was great and attentive, dining area lovely, food was fabulous, tasty and superbly presented We had set price lunch menu, which was quite affordable, though I would pay individual normal price for this kind of food Limited umbrellas, book for table in shade if booking this restaurant and sitting in the terrace"

  • "Service here always great. Atmosphere too. We come often and menu gets a little boring. No specials. Fish is wonderful except not the salmon. Tastes like poor quality farmed. They have a wonderful wine list and great cocktails. Come for the atmosphere and service. Some dishes on the menu are excellent - try shrimp salad (although shrimp are farmed), fried calamari, and beet salad. The hake and burger for entree are very good. Warm chocolate cake is out of this world."

  • "We had the prix-fixe lunch at the Terrace. Each dish was fabulously presented, and tasted exquisite. My friend's dish came with some red pepper flakes, which she had expressly asked NOT to have, and when she brought it to the waiter's attention he was very apologetic. He said the dish was not usually prepared like that. We were brought a lovely complimentary dessert to share (on top of our included ones) and it was fabulous. After our meal the manager (I assume) came to our table to apologize again for the mistake. I would eat there again and again and again....I had the tuna tartare, which was fresh and tasty, the hake, which was perfectly prepared, and a warm chocolate souffle/cake that melted in my mouth. Absolute bliss!"

  • "The food was totally mediocre. The presentation of the shrimp salad was messy. The red snapper was overcooked. Nothing special with the strawberry shortbread. Although eating in the terrace was nice, I was disappointed with the food because it's Jean-Georges, you know."

  • "Always a pleasure to have a dinner on the terrace, although a bit chilly that night. Not only food was great but staff was very kind."

  • "The food was awesome. I had one of the best pasta and steak dishes in a long time. However, the service was average. We were not made to feel special. I guess they reserve all the fawning for inside?"

  • "We celebrated our 1-year anniversary with my wife at this restaurant, and we will never forget it thanks to the quality of every choice on the menu, special and sentimental value the restaurant has for us as we always return here for significant occasions, and for the impeccable and personal service provided by the whole staff. We highly recommend this restaurant to all couples, dates, even small groups for that special touch to the evening, regardless of a special occasion."
