We have been going to nougatin for years. Sadly we will not return. In nougatin, we came during lunch only to find not only did the price went up more then 25% , the portions of the three course meal became so small a child will remain hungry. When we got the bass fish, we got a dry fish. We asked to replace it only to receive a pea size spaghetti portion with a taste like airplane food. Too bad Jean Georges only cares about his PR, he lost contact with his customers. The service is good but to money peoples on sq. foot. We defenetly will not come back. Thanks

It was my fault..I didn't realize that the "terrace" was different from the inside. After much cajoling we were able to get a table inside..Make sure that you realize that you want to sit OUTSIDE !

Really great food & great outdoor space. Perfect for a 40th birthday. However, for such a renowned restaurant, I have to admit, I did expect better service. Don't' get me wrong, the service was good and attentive, but just a little bit uncomfortable. There is nothing more annoying for any diner, than when you are about to take a bite of steak, and a waiter or waitress, right at that moment asked : how is everything? Restaurants may think that is attentive service, but it's annoying. A good server will always observe customers from a distance and see when they are in need of something, of in the middle of eating their meal.

Cutting to the chase, the appetizers were great. We had a wonderful big kale salad and tender fried calamari. Then came the entrees. Well, they came after a long, long, long wait. Our cold wines got warm as the time passed and our entrees got cool. We had the impression that they were sitting somewhere for a time before making it to our table. And the rest of the terrace didn't seem to be eating either. The entrees were good, not great. The salmon was tasty. The chicken was too, although I would have preferred crispy skin. Not sure if it had been affected by neglect in service. The outdoor setting is quite lovely on a nice evening, and that made it fun despite the flaws.

The ambience and service were great, the food average. I started with the tuna tartare appetizer. The tuna and avocado were tasteless; I had the impression the dish might have been stored in the refrigerator for some time. There was a very strong balsamic vinaigrette served over radishes on top of the tuna that gave the dish it's only flavor. Not very subtle. For the main course I ordered veal Milanese. This turned out to be a very thin slice of veal (like a piece of luncheon meat) which was breaded and fried. To me it simply tasted like fried bread. Underneath was a mess of soggy greens saturAted in the same extremely strong tasting balsamic vinaigrette. Strong flavors, neither pleasant.

After numerous visits sitting inside Nougatine, always enjoying the food and service but wondering what a great summer dinner outside on the terrace may be like, we were able to try it and can't wait to do it again. It's one of the great NY dining values - the food of Jean Georges, delightful service, an excellent and well-priced wine list, and the ambiance of a New York summer night. It can't be beat. Particularly nice is the fact that being right off Columbus Circle you hear the buzz of the city but the hedgerows surrounding the terrace nicely tamps down the edge of the noise. The menu is well-selected to also provide the right balance of formal with casual - superb, sophisticated preparation of simple dishes and a wine list to match.

What a wonderful secret outdoor hideaway right in the heart of Columbus Circle. I always like the spot but what a big improvement with the new furniture. Alas, the quality of the food was seriously disappointing. The lobster burger was greasy and bland, and so unappetizing to look at. The Rigatoni with Meatballs had a BBQ flavor that would be best left off the menu. The French Fries were a savior so I guess the thing to do is get drink at the lovely bar and order a side of fries. I live in the neighborhood and was hoping for much more from JG. You can do so much better by just sticking to basic flavors. Service was great, as usual.

Much better than last time we went a few months ago. We had the salmon with crispy rice appetizer. Excellent. Also the calamari-good but too salty. My entree was the filet mignon-excellent, cooked to correct med rare as I requested. He had the lobster-very good. Dessert was not great-we split the cherry sundae but it was way too tart for us. Wine list was fabulous. We sat outdoors and loved the ambiance. Service was spot on; lovely staff. We will be back.

My wife loves dining outdoors. I don't. But we recently had dinner outdoors on the Nougatine Terrace at Jean-Georges, a patio shielded from street gawkers by high shrubbery. The meal was delightful. The kitchen, of course, is the same as the one for Jean-Georges, one of the city's top gourmet palaces (which charges a lot more money), and the food is terrific. (Dessert was merely very good. Everything else was outstanding.) Tables aren't jammed together, and servers are professionals. My only complaint is that a three-course dinner inexplicably took 2-3/4 hours. It was pleasant eating outdoors while the sun set, but I got impatient. Even so, I'll return gladly, weather permitting.

I reserved Nougatine Terrance at 7:30pm. Didn't get seated until 50 mins later - can't figure out why and wasn't offered an explanation. It took waiters/waitress forever to come to our table for everything - really - is Nougtaine really that under-staffed? The food is merely okay for its reputation but the service is sub-par. There are plenty of other well-deservicing restaurants in NYC that have better food and service. Do not waste your money and time here.

The ladies at liunch in our party loved the restaurant week great value for excellent food. Service was very attentive. Flounder fish was fresh, flavorful and cooked just right. The original chocolate lava cake the chef created is still much better than the copies. It has been consistently exciting. Watermelon gazpacho was refreshingly delicious as delightful. I was the only one who had the peach dessert which was a bit too sour and quite ordinary. The organic chicken entree was delightful with a hint of curry. Somehow we felt comfy at the Terrace but also felt we were shooed into the section by not entering through the restaurant.

Had the tasting menu with the wine pairing on Thursday night (7/24/14). Basically, nothing special I haven't tasted before, so the point of the tasting menu was lost on me. Should be called "tasted before" menu. The bright spot was the wine pairing choices; but it was not on the menu and I'm glad I inquired about it. The riesling chosen to accompany the first dish was spot on. Service was well paced and pleasant. Ambience was wonderful (we dined on their terrace).

Very disappointed. My friend and I came in for restaurant week. We had dined at other Jean George restaurants downtown and enjoyed the experiences, so decided to try Nougatine. Service was lackluster and extremely slow. The pacing of the overall meal was haphazard and we waited an uncomfortably long time in between courses. The server had to actually apologize several times and kept saying that the chefs were "slammed" by restaurant week demand. Having only offered two different dishes per course, we thought that it would be easier for kitchen to just produce multiple dishes at once since everyone was ordering pretty much the same thing (they did offer several a la carte dishes from their regular menu). Food was uninspired.

I thoroughly enjoyed Nougatine. All three of us ordered from the Restaurant Wk menu. Two ordered the fish and one ordered the chicken option. Each was cooked to perfection. Every course was flavorful without being overpowering. The staff was very accommodating and friendly. I thought this high-end eatery might be stuffy but it was not. There was a balance of elegant, thoughtful service. The reception staff was exceptionally friendly. Jean George was there and spoke with a few diners, which was surprising since it was a Wednesday evening. It was NYC dining at its best and Restaurant Wk made it very affordable.

As overseas visitors we checked the law in relation to under 21 drinking in advance of traveling. Nougatine refused to serve my daughter >18 years to drink a glass of wine, even though it was within the law once we as her parents ordered/paid for it. The manager said it didn't matter what the law was , it was their policy. The food was very disappointing and the staff noticed we were less than enthralled as evidenced by our full plates at the end of the meal, but did not address it by speaking to us instead they presented desserts ( we did not want). They simply bought off the discomfort of a complaint by presenting "the consolation" of desert.

We were two families having the prix fixe lunch menu on a hot summer day, all seated comfortably in the shade. Most important, the food was excellent. Selcted dishes included tuna tartare and calamari, organic chicken, carameized bass and cheeseburger. Our only slight complaint has to do with the service. While our main waiter was really kind and helpful throughout, it was at times quite difficult to get hold of him or others, for instance to get more wine or water. As the number of waiters seemed quite high, it left the impression of the restaurant being slightly disorganised. In short, it was not a question of attitude problems but rather managerial shortcomings.
