Nougatine at Jean GeorgesAging beautifullyThis is a class act restaurant staying ahead of the industry.
It's consistent but always evolving.
I'm very proud of the team at JG/Nougatine both dining room and the kitchen.
Bravo!6/12/2013 12:00:00 AMa little offWe had a delicious and wonderful birthday lunch exscept that the waiter forgot the note that said it was my birthday and forgot that the bill had been taken care of - and didn''t bother to be enthusiastic about the food choices or the experience.
indifferent waiter detracted from overall experience6/11/2013 12:00:00 AMI enjoyed the food but theI enjoyed the food but the wait staff basically rushed us out. The desert did not taste fresh, the cake with the green tea puree was hard.6/11/2013 12:00:00 AMDecadenceThe food was everything I had hoped it would be: uniquely delicious and expertly presented.6/11/2013 12:00:00 AMA Wonderful EveningA second visit was as good as the first. The food is wonderful, and the service is attentive and flawless. The evening crowd has a higher noise level than at lunch but it was not impossible. The only criticism is that the very good wine list is also very pricey. Whereas the price of wine in restaurants has climbed to three times the price of what one can get the same bottle for at retail, this was coming in around about five times. This is unfortunate as it means that one's choice under $100 is limited and commonplace.6/10/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat food, mediocre service...The food is outstandingly Jean-Georges.
We were there for brunch at 11am. Be aware that if you show up early on Sun, you may need to wait until until 11 when they're done serving breakfast to hotel guests.
Most of the dishes on the prix fixe menu, watermelon anbd goat cheese, olive oil, chilled pea soup, crab cake, salmon on mash potato, are not innovative, but are outstandingly executed. The three coursesprix fixe menu, at $32 apiece, is a barga.
Unfortunately, the service on that Sunday morning, from a staff prob of summer workers, was slow, clumsy and inattentive. Servers randomly serve food on diner's left or right, reach across table to fill water glass, bump into diners & chairs, leave water glasses empty, etc.6/9/2013 12:00:00 AMWe go to Nougatine for specialWe go to Nougatine for special occasions and then some because the food is wonderful. We like the renovations that make it lighter and airy. The service usually is more attentive than it was this time, so that aspect was very disappointing--no one likes having to search for your waiter as it takes away from the conversation and the mood.6/7/2013 12:00:00 AMHidden gemThe veranda at Nougatine is one of the best settings in NYC for an amazing meal outdoors. We indulged in the 3 course prix fixe menu: the food was superb (as always) but this outing was all the better because it was our first time eating on the veranda. An amazingly elegant and spacious setting just on the edge of Central Park yet private and removed from the exhaust and stares of the street by a ledge and lush rows of greenery.
We love Nougatine because it is reliably above average; a meal on the veranda with good weather catapults lunch at Nougatine into a MUST.6/5/2013 12:00:00 AMHadn't been to Nougatine forHadn't been to Nougatine for a couple of years. Forgot how great it is. Wonderful menu. All around enjoyable experience to eat there. The restaurant was very busy on an ordinary weekday evening. Everything was handled beautifully.6/5/2013 12:00:00 AMFresh and deliciousAlthough fairly crowded, at least we felt this to be the case, the delicious, well prepared, fresh ingredients and perfect and perfect device make Nougatine exceptional. Our fresh pea soup was peerless. We also enjoyed being able to have a glimpse of the beautiful kitchen and the process of food preparation, obviously well under control.6/3/2013 12:00:00 AMbirthday dinnerI booked this restaurant because Jean-George was booked. We were not disappointed. The food was so flavorful and the service was superb. We will come back for a return visit. I would like to sit outside if weather permits.6/3/2013 12:00:00 AMSimply GreatI loved this place and look forward to coming back!6/2/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat BrunchI really enjoyed Sunday brunch at this little sister of Jean Georges. The food was very tasty and the ingredients of the highest quality. We dined outside which was a lovely way to spend a Sunday afternoon, my only minor complaint was that our iced tea glasses could have been filled more often but this really did not affect my overall experience.6/2/2013 12:00:00 AMgreat Lincoln Center- areagreat Lincoln Center- area spot for a special occasion.Pricey but worth it. The wait staff was wonderful, explaining the menu choices without being haughty. service was impeccable . The food was delicious and out of the ordinary.6/1/2013 12:00:00 AMserviceI have had many meals at this restaurant; the service was extremely slow ( perhaps because of a very busy weekend lunch hour)6/1/2013 12:00:00 AMA lovely way to start the dayHaving recently been for dinner and having been disappointed, I was unexpectedly thrilled with breakfast. The menu was lovely and the service terrific. It was lovely to look out at the park and enjoy a relaxing delicious breakfast.5/31/2013 12:00:00 AMA great value at a 5* restaurantThe prix fixe lunch at Nougatine is a whale of a bargain in NYC. The $32 three course tasting menu is absolutely as a good a deal as you will find at a top-notch restaurant in Manahattan.5/31/2013 12:00:00 AMExcellent food reasonably pricedNice menu, realistic prices. My roasted fennel and goat cheese salad was fantastic, my daughter's salmon sashimi beautiful. My main of sauteed cod very good, her lobster burger excellent but a bit rick. Desserts great. Service very attentive. would certainly go back.5/30/2013 12:00:00 AMDiabetic-friendly, great serviceLovely server and peaceful setting, terrific food with only one blooper - a side of greens with the cod that were so high on heat that our most assiduously heat seeking friend was only able to eat a mouthful. When one friend was obliged to leave midway through our meal, a very unobtrusive but helpful server covered her food and make it possible to stay longer and accommodate our friend's return. Also very impressed with the restaurant's ability and willingness to offer substitutes for a diabetic, providing a diabetic friendly non sugar dessert that deviated from the prix fixe menu. there was no additional charge.5/29/2013 12:00:00 AMWonderful. Simply Put.We love this place-and we ate here several times over a four day period for many different meals (breakfast, lunch, dinner). This place always hits a home run--the food, service, wine--all of it--is perfect. If Jean Georges was not ten feet away, no one would ever consider it "second" to any establishment. Kudos!5/28/2013 12:00:00 AMExpensive, but polished. FoodExpensive, but polished. Food is inventive and well-executed. Alcohol is pricey.5/27/2013 12:00:00 AMAbsolutely fantastic fromAbsolutely fantastic from food to service. Can't wait to go back!!5/27/2013 12:00:00 AMAll around a wonderful, festiveAll around a wonderful, festive and memorable experience at an affordable price.5/23/2013 12:00:00 AMWe enjoyed the pre-theaterWe enjoyed the pre-theater prix-fixed menu. Two of the selections were standard favorites and the entree of chicken was new and delicious. We finished the 3 courses in1 hour and did not feel rushed. The standard menu was full of the interesting things one expects from this restaurant. Always a treat to eat here.5/22/2013 12:00:00 AMConsistently GoodWe decided to eat at Nougatine rather than our usual treat at Jean Georges. It was nice to have a more informal approach to dining but still great food. Not a cheap option but nice to have a change. The fois gras was excellent and the lobster tempura quite outstanding.5/22/2013 12:00:00 AMAlways a favorite wheneverAlways a favorite whenever we come to the city and we've been eating here since it opened. A lovely meal last week, nut we were disappointed in the consistent heaviness and over-richness of our very diverse menu selections. In other words, everything we chose off the menus ended up being too heavy to be totally fresh and enjoyable.5/22/2013 12:00:00 AMLovely lunchLunch was just right. Food was fresh and tasty. The tuna tartare had a ginger sauce that was a bit strong, overshadowing the other flavors. Tha salmon was just delicious, cook to perfection. Chocolate desert was superb
Nice experience altogether!5/20/2013 12:00:00 AMFood was outstanding and theFood was outstanding and the prix fixe lunch was a great bargain. Unfortunately, the service wasn't nearly as good. Our waiter spilled an entire glass of champagne, breaking the glass all over our table, without offering anything to make up for his error. Also, we were seated at the worst table in he restaurant right next to the kitchen (is this "special table reserved for Opentable") and when we asked to be moved, they told us the other tables had been specially requested.5/20/2013 12:00:00 AMA basic Jean GeorgesIf you are fond of JG restaurants, I think this has one of the best executed recipes of his group. However, as almost all NY, the attitude of the waiters for dinner might not be as good as the food. In an overall experience, is one of the best money you can spent in a breakfast, brunch, lunch or dinner. The French Toast is heaven and the Tuna Tartare is the best ever!5/20/2013 12:00:00 AMMy favorite restaurant in NYCWe had a flawless meal. Besides, consistently providing the best food ....they make perfect cappuccino's. It's my favorite restaurant in NYC. They get everything right!!5/19/2013 12:00:00 AMUpscale and comfortable/casualI went to this restaurant at different times in different seasons. I truly love this restaurant. The quality of food is upscale enough (probably comparable to Asiate in Mandarin Oriental, Morimoto, etc. and way better than Boulud Sud), yet it is less pricey than those upscale places like Asiate or Morimoto, and feel very casual. Very nice place for young and vibrant people who want upscale meals in a relatively casual mode without making a hole in the credit card.5/18/2013 12:00:00 AMDeserves all the great reviewsFabulous! What a perfect way to dine. It's nice to find professional servers who really care. Four of us dined together and even the most predictable dish was delicious. The kitchen is so creative and refined; and even accommodated the food allergies at our table. First visit for dinner and not disappointed. Lunch is always equally good and priced well. There are many well praised restaurants but this one really deserves all the great reviews!5/18/2013 12:00:00 AMBeautiful lunchMy daughter and I had a beautiful lunch, crab cake, salmon and chocolate cake. I appreciated the elegant wine list by the glass and half glass. Sometimes it's just so nice to enjoy a taste of a fine wine without imbibing a whole glass during lunch. The service was efficient and impeccable.5/16/2013 12:00:00 AMLoved itExcept for the wine list which did not offer enough price choices of decent. Wine....alll too expensive.....food was great5/16/2013 12:00:00 AMEclectic menu served wellEclectic menu served well in moderate sized portions. Wait staff though competent is a bit undersized leading to delays between courses. Reliable reservation control.5/15/2013 12:00:00 AMExcelent choice!Excellent food & envirament for an excellent price. When we arrived there, they took us to the table at the exact time we had made our reservation. Lunch was not too fast or too long, it was really very nice.5/15/2013 12:00:00 AMA New York PearlA dining experience with outstanding food and service.- located at Columbus Circle. Each appetizer was exquisite - sweet pea soup, crabcakes, calamara. If only we could have ordered them all. The beautifully tasting and served Lobster Salt and Pepper was a treat. The desserts? Must go back to try all of them, too. An unbelievable wine list! If only we could have afforded some of the real pearls on that wine menu. But the recommendation we got was superb - matched the meal and our budget. Don't miss this dining pearl in New York!5/14/2013 12:00:00 AMExcellent establishment, but...The menu at Nougatine is very attractive.
The quality of the cooking is excellent. flavouful and light.
The general atmosphere is pleasant although the air conditionning is a little strong.
Rather little kind service with few exceptions among the waiters/waitress. Few efforts to be understoodfrom people averagely speaking english...
Nevertheless, we shall retrn to Nougatine for the very good general quality of this establishment.5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMFabulous but disappointing foodWe had a fabulous moment in this very nice restaurant. Nougatine surrounding is very lovely.
The wine list is amazing and we experienced a delicious Pinot Noir thanks to the sommlier guidance. Our starters were outstanding.
Nevertheless we were very disappointed by the entrées. My pork chop were not tasty neither tender. my friend lobster hamburgers were lacking flavour also.5/11/2013 12:00:00 AMvery good restaurantWENT FOR A SPECIAL OCCASION DINNER, THE PEA SOUP HAS BEEN ON MY MIND FOR TWO WEEKS NOW. IT WAS SO GREEN AND JUST AMAZING. THE TASTING MENU WAS FANTASTIC AND WE DECIDED TO HAVE DRINKS INSTEAD OF JUST WINE AND IT PROVED TO BE A GREAT CHOICE. VERY LOUD ATMOSPHERE AND TABLES ARE TIGHT. THE COUPLE NEXT TO US HAD TO TURN SIDEWAYS AND SLIDE OVER SO I COULD GET OUT TO USE RESTROOM. WAIT STAFF WAS VERY ATTENTIVE AND FOOD WAS TIMED PERFECTLY. WOULD DEFINITELY GO AGAIN.5/11/2013 12:00:00 AMas always, great food, greatas always, great food, great quality.
just needed to wait long for a waiter's service to get to the table, to get a menu, anything requested as it's always too crowded.5/11/2013 12:00:00 AMOne of the best restaurants in NYCAlways fantastic. Food great and management treats you very well.5/9/2013 12:00:00 AMDelicious and delightful .....I had a delicious salmon entre, the service is excellent and this is one of my favorite restaurants in NYC5/9/2013 12:00:00 AMNougatine shares a kitchenNougatine shares a kitchen with Jean-Georges, but its prices and pretension are a notch lower. Nevertheless, a meal at Jean-Georges isn't inexpensive, and the food and service are both fussy. The bottom line: If you want the chef's cuisine without the full rococo presentation you'd get in the adjacent dining room, Nougatine will serve nicely.5/8/2013 12:00:00 AMElegance with easeSpringtime luncheon at Nougatine was perfect. Presentation was beautiful and not fussy. Sauces were well-balanced and flavorful, complementing the colorful fresh spring ingredients. Service was impeccable and warm. Altogether an elegant, exceptional dining experience.5/8/2013 12:00:00 AMDelicious dinnerThis is a great pre-Lincoln Center dinner spot. We had an early performance at Lincoln Center and chose the "early bird" pris fixe which was delicious. Attentive but not overbearing service. Would definitely recommend.5/7/2013 12:00:00 AMGood, but Lesser JG in NYCFirst, can't beat the signature margaritas!
Second, table service was a little off. Wait staff was oddly absent after ordering of meal.
Although standard at most other JG restaurants visited in City, guests had to fold own napkins after visit to ladies/mens rooms.
Also, after waiting fifteen-twenty minutes after completion of dessert, had to ultimately flag down another server to get our waiter's attention to bring check.
Third most of the food was delicious as anticipated: tuna tartare, sweet pea soup, roast black cod.
However, lobster burger missed the JG mark. Not sure that the lobster lent itself to "burger" mode.
Although a nice dining option in NYC, not necessarily up to par with other JG locations in the city.5/7/2013 12:00:00 AMDisappointed but...Overall a wonderful evening. Fun to watch bar scene. While appetizers and desserts were great, main courses just okay. I shared the rib eye and it was not as good as I have had elsewhere and overwhelmed by the gigantic bunch of fresh thyme on top.5/6/2013 12:00:00 AMGood....Good food, a very chic crowd. Very friendly staff. It was truly enjoybale!5/3/2013 12:00:00 AMNew Take on Traditional DishesThe meal was very enjoyable. I know it's a weird complaint, but the portions were way too big. My husband and I ordered a few courses and we were barely able to eat the main course because there was too much food. I understand some people only order entrees, but the appetizer was a little too plentiful to be followed by such a large entree.5/3/2013 12:00:00 AM
