Choosing from the prix fixe menu, either 2 or 3 courses allows the diner to experience the skills and talent from the kitchen, without sacrificing quality or interesting options that also appear on the regular menu. Knowing you have to catch the show, the staff get you in and out without seeming rushed and are courteous the entire time.

The service was excellent - we both had the halibut which was terrific...and both had salads to start - really good salads. Then we had the dessert....it was a molten chocolate cake with vanilla bean ice cream. We each went with the "prix fix" ...thats why we ended up with the same dinners...but really good. For an entree, you can't go wrong with the halibut. Simply divine.

Last time I was disappointed and felt that the restaurant was losing its distinction. The meal last night was seriously memorable, a mix of flavours and ideas that never stopped surprising. While our party of four all had different choices, the reaction was universally impressive. This was for me better even the impressive opening days of this restaurant when it was being praised from coast to coast. Sometimes one tries a restaurant that has a great reputation and it is disappointing; no this time, the food and service were excellent. The staff helped us choose a meal we both enjoyed, my partner being a little hesitant on the main until she discussed it with the staff. While we where there the restaurant went from being only partly full to fully bustling - sometimes this means the service declines - not here, there was a consistent level of service and interaction even when it was packed. It is top notch and by far the BEST in the theatre district. My dinner companion had the Cornish game hen, and it was so big that we joked with the waiter that it must have been on steroids. She could not eat it all, which turned out to be a good thing.
I had the black cod which was excellent; however, the serving size was miniscule. It even looked skimpy on my plate. I did not have enough to eat. I ended up eating my companion's leftover Cornish game hen. Suggest that you increase the serving size for the cod, as fish is much lighter than fowl or meat & thus less filling. I wondered if you had reduced the serving size of the black cod because of it being on the prix-fixe menu. Let's start off with the most courteous waiting staff I have ever encountered. The pacing was perfect, we were never long without food or drink, but it never felt rushed. The food was to die for. The lobster appetizer was incredible, so many flavours on one plate, so little time. The cod and beef tenderloin were absolutely fantastic. Both melted in your mouth. From the moment we arrived to the moment we left, each individual we dealt with was lovely. It was an anniversary lunch with my boss, who is what one would call a "Bay Street lawyer". He had not heard of it, and was very impressed, so I expect he'll be returning to this gem when he's impressing clients.
