Not Your Average Joe's Newburyportb-day mealThank you, Joe's, for my free entree and dessert for my birthday. This is such a nice program. It is a nice reward for our patronage.5/7/2013 12:00:00 AMRepeat customersAlway consistently good food and service. Only challenge is finding a place to wait during busy times. Bar area small and anywhere you stand other than outside you're in the way.5/4/2013 12:00:00 AMDon't pass this place up!My wife and I are frequent diners here, and we often bring friends and family. Everyone loves this place. The bread and dipping sauce alone could be a meal. The location is perfect, and with the weather getting warmer, outdoor seating will be back with water views. Perfect place for any occasion.4/20/2013 12:00:00 AMHad the salmon - it was perfect!Had the salmon - it was perfect! Came with asparagus although it was a little under cooked. I happen to like it a little on the softer side. The rice was good also and of course the breads. Everyone else in our group loved their meals also.4/19/2013 12:00:00 AMHad my birthday dinner there---gotHad my birthday dinner there---got a free entree and dessert as I'm on their mailing list. I am gluten free, so chose from their separate gluten free menu. Had fabulous broiled scallops on a rosemary stick, over sweet potatoes with a little bacon mixed in. Yummy! My family thoroughly enjoyed their meals also. We split a bottle of wine on their special $20 bottle list and it was great. Highly recommended--even if its too cold to sit outside.4/4/2013 12:00:00 AMNice and a bit slowHad a great view of the harbor. Pleasant window spot and nice wait staff.
Unfortunately, we had about a 35 minute wait for a window seat despite having made a reservation a week in advance "for a window seat." Our hostess was gracious, but I wish they would indicate that reservations are no guarantee that you will be seated on time. It was a 50th birthday, so I was a bit embarrassed about the wait.
Food scrumptious!!!! - Thanks3/31/2013 12:00:00 AMOne of the best restaurantsOne of the best restaurants in the area. Great place, great staff and great location.3/30/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat service. The butternutGreat service. The butternut squash manicotti with cranberry sauce was very sweet - like dinner & dessert all-in-one... The music was a bit loud for easy conversation but fun. The chocolate lava cake was to die for!3/21/2013 12:00:00 AMWe had lunch on a Sunday -We had lunch on a Sunday - excellent food - I had onion soup & a waldorf side salad and my husband had a pizza. The 2 others with us had soup. We all LOVED the bread and dip. We could have had more but never tried asking. Service was excellent. Only criticism is that if you aren't familiar with Newburyport and its layout, don't rely on Google maps - when putting in the address (1 Market Square, Firehouse Center, Newburyport, MA, Google interprets that to be 1 Market Street - which is not even near the actual location. Furthermore, when I called the restaurant, the person that answered didn't understand that either and sent me on a wild goose chase. Restaurant is right at the intersection of Merrimac & State streets.3/17/2013 12:00:00 AMNYAJ is always a great spotNYAJ is always a great spot for fantastic food and drinks. It's a local hotspot in my neighborhood, so we go there frequently. Reservations are recommended, there always seems to be a wait for tables...a testament to their popularity!
The staff is friendly and knowledgeable, and their complimentary appetizer of fresh bread with dipping oil is a definite yes. So good! I had the ahi wonton appetizer and also the ahi tuna salad...both very good. The wontons are SO delicious. We also had the Thai mussels which were amazing too. I am always happy with their food, and their drinks are inventive and always tste like another!3/13/2013 12:00:00 AM
