A word from Not Your Average Joe's Burlington
What does creative casual cuisine mean? Exactly what it says. We"re creative, because we reject the same-old-same-old in favor of tastes that are interesting and unique. We're casual because while our food may be worth getting dressed up for, we invite you to come as you are. We're all about cuisine in the sense that our chefs apply high standards of culinary art. There it is. Creative. Casual. Cuisine. If it sounds like your kind of place, then you – like us- are not your average Joe.Continued

  • "We were seated within moments of arriving, had a great waitress who was attentive without being overbearing, and as is always the case in NYAJ, willing to accommodate substitutions, special diets, etc. While not original, the food is consistently well prepared. "

  • "Great food and service! Arrived at noon on a Tuesday and we were seated right away. 15 minutes later the place was packed. "

  • "I was a little disappointed this time. I've always had a good meal at NYAJs, but this time it just did not meet my expectations. I decided to try something different this time too which I should have stuck with my normal dish. I at bread and my meal and was just satisfied. I typically don't eat so much bread but the meal was not satisfying. I used to rave about this place...not this time."

  • "I made a reservation at noon for a party of 8 at 5pm. The six of us that arrived together were seated promptly, and the two stragglers were directed to our table without issue. The table of 12 seated across from us appeared to be handled properly, too. Our server was outstanding, knowing when to let us chat and when to step to the table. Her only slip-ups came with table-clearing. A few empty glasses and finished plates were left to linger. The food met expectations. We went there for a casual get-together, to share a few laughs, and to enjoy a couple of drinks with a decent plate. Not Your Average Joe's in Burlington fit the bill."

  • "We chose to dine on Monday night to avoid the crowds. Parking was good - no need for valet (not offered on Monday nights because not needed). Manager BOB personally welcomed us at the reception desk and we were seated right away. Our server was the ever-pleasant KATE H. I chose the small Barbecue Chicken Pizza (1st time I tried it) and it was very good. My wife had a small house salad with grilled chicken, also very good. Wine chosen was William Hill Chardonney."

  • "We enjoy Joes because they are consistent in the quality of their food and the service. We no longer live in the area but always visit this restaurant when in town. Consistency is far underrated but it one of the reasons we also go to Starbucks. Good service and the product is good AND reliable. We found when living in the Boston area that good service was hard to come by so we very much appreciate it. Also, the prices are fair."

  • "Having the reservation allowed for no waiting, our table was ready and set-up! A plus for a party of 5 for lunch! Good food too!"

  • "We've been to Not Your Average Joe's a lot over the years. The other night we were seated at a tiny, tiny booth and the service was extremely slow. We sat for about 10 minutes before someone even acknowledged we were there. The cod, which I usually order, was dry, and the mashed potatoes were not good. My husband had the Jambalaya which he said is much better at Lexx in Lexington, MA. Not a great night a Joe's."

  • "I've to Not Your Average Joe's many time. With friends and with my husband. I love the balsamic salmon. It's my absolute favorite. I've had other fish dishes that are cooked with a bit too much oil for my taste, but I love the salmon."

  • "I went there for my birthday with my wife and two of our daughters. Waitress was slow and plodding and did not check on my birthday club status until after she brought the check, even though informed when we were seated. Also, one of my daughter's salads was not very good. I do credit NYAJ for taking the salad off the menu, but it made for a not so great meal (my wife switch plates, but she did not care for it either). My cod dish was quite good, as was the cheesecake dessert."

  • "We were seated promptly on arriving. We had an excellent meal, prepared as advertised, served in a leisurely, timely way. The next course came just as we finished the previous one. It was great. Can't beat the birthday deal - free entree and dessert - saved us $22.00 - most of which we gave to our server as she was excellent! She checked on us frequently but unobtrusively."

  • "Four of us went to dinner on Sunday. Every meal was very good. Portions were large and two people took some leftovers. The restaurant was busy but the server was able to stay on top of things. A very good experience from beginning to end."

  • "My boyfriend cannot eat onions and we combed the menu to try and find something other than chicken fingers or a burger for him to eat. After asking the Waitress (who then asked her Manager) whether there were onions in the pulled pork (she said no), we ordered it. When it arrived, there were whole chunks of onions in the sauce/etc. We were pretty disappointed that the staff didn't seem to know what ingredients are in the food and even more disappointed that no notes were made to the kitchen staff to make them aware of the requirement. We probably won't be back to this location."

  • "Came on Monday this week. Good choice. Parking not a problem - was able to find space nearby, unlike Wednesday through Saturday where you HAVE to valet your car or you don't get a space. The valets "cone-out" every available nearby space so you have to either valet or park at least 5 rows out unless you're lucky enough to be right there when an earlier diner vacates his space and you grab it before a valet runs over with a cone to make it off-limits. Although valeting is complementary I think most people feel obliged to tip the valet. Monday is also a good choice because it's not that crowded inside ands service is faster and more relaxed. I have the cranberry-teriyaki chicken with butternut squash cannelloni, which is one of my favorites."

  • "Went to the Burlington Not Your Average Joe's with a group from the office recently. Turned out the Tuesday night special of a burger and a beer for $10 was just the ticket for half the group! Food was very good, as was the service. Only thing we didn't like was that it was a bit noisy."

  • "My wife and I were looking for a place to grab a quick bite and the staff was really good at serving us quickly. However, this worked out only because we had an OpenTable reservation. The place is packed in the evening, especially on weekends. The food quality is very good. The steak tips are grilled to perfection. But the kitchen must have been under pressure to serve so many patrons, so they cut a few corners on the side dishes - which were still very good but not perfect. The mashed potatoes were a little on the dry side and the green beans were a little underdone for my taste. Parking is challenging on weekends, but the restaurant offers complimentary valet parking, which is really a nice touch."

  • "Hostess sat my daughter first and when we arrived made us wait as she didn't connect us to the person already seated even though we told her my name. We were sat at another table and when i texted my daughter, found out she was sitting across the room. The manager was very apologetic. We decided to try something new and were not impressed. Manager did comp apps and an entree. He was very accommodating. Next time we go back i'll stick to what i like."

  • "We found it very disappointing that even though we made reservations we had to wait 30 plus minutes. In addition, based on our experience at other restaurants we would have suspected that at least one of the meals would have been compensated, but that was not the case. The manager did come to our table to apologize, but the apology was more about blaming NYAJ'S systems than anything and/or trying to recognize the staff could not handle the amount of customers. Typically we really enjoy NYAJ'S, but this time we brought an out of town guest after raving about NYAJ'S and it was a disappointment."

  • "Arrived at 6:30pm for a 6:45 reservation. Was not seated until 7:20pm. Wasn't sure if we were forgotten since people without reservations seemed to have the same wait as me or if it was just poor management by the concierge."

  • "Use to love Joe's in Burlington, I haven't been in a while and something has changed. I remember it a fun energetic restaurant and it has definitely lost that feel. Managers used to visit the tables to check in on everything and I didn't even see a manager for the hour and a half my family and I where there. The menu has changed and I found it hard to find anything that really made me say "oooo I want that" so I went with the old staple of mustard chicken which was good but with all the new restaurants in and around Burlington that good old go to staple is now just boring. The whole energy of this store was just down and depressing. I only recognized a few servers from when I used to come all the time. Joe's has plummeted."

  • "Not Your Average Joe's is a good self descriptive restaurant. It's not a fancy restaurant but it's a step above average. All the food was very good and the service was great. A good above average dining experience at average prices making it a good value. 4/5 stars overall"

  • "I love Joe's...both before and after being gluten-free. So when I got the FREE entree and desert coupon for my birthday, Joe's is where I wanted to go to celebrate. I have had many of their items many times. This time, the gluten-free mac and cheese was dry (like it had been sitting under a heat lamp too long) and not very cheesy. Mac and cheese is one of those comfort foods you really miss when you go gluten-free. Usually their entrees fill me to the brim, but this time, there seemed to be less. The bacon crumbles were like crunching rocks. I hate to seem so harsh, but this meal really was not up to the Joe's standard. The sorbet was quite tasty, though. And just getting out to celebrate my birthday was treat enough for me."

  • "I absolutely love NYAJ! Great food for a good price. Good service. Only con is their parking situation. Ever since two more restaurants have joined, the parking is very frustrations. NYAJ recently put in valet parking which helps A LOT!!!!"

  • "My husband and I always enjoy an evening here. The menu is varied, the food well-prepared and appetizing and the service is excellent. We made reservations for our party of four to dine on a Saturday night. Reservations are a must! It is a very attractive and festive contemporary decor, making it a fun place to be."

  • "Made reservation via open table. Arrived just before time and still had to wait another 20 mins. in an overly crowded entrance area. Service was great when we finally were seated. Food was good except one meal arrived hot, but the other arrived only warm. Have always liked this location but was a bit disappointed this time around."

  • "Met two best friends last night for dinner. Given the inclement weather and heavy traffic, we were all not able to get there by 6:00 pm. Hostess was so sweet...she made sure we would have a table even though it was past our reservation time. We had also requested a booth, which she made sure was available. I noticed that she that she demonstrated a friendly, "can do" attitude with everyone who came in. Nothing seemed like a problem. Our plan was to catch up and we did not want to rush through dinner. Chris provided terrific service. Checked in as needed and gave us plenty of time to catch up. We were not rushed at all. Food was delicious as usual....I've never had anything I haven't liked at NYAJ. LOVE this place!"

  • "Although I don't generally like "chain" restaurants, this one is very "un-chainlike"! We like the great flavor combinations. I love the new "Winesday" deals. Very fun, and very affordable. Great for mid-week, when everyone is ready for someone else to do the cooking."

  • "Not Your Average Joe's continues to be a great causal dining spot. They have a great special on Wednesdays called Winesday that offers a selection of two entrees and a bottle of wine for $40. (This is going through March I believe). The choice of entrees is decent and the wine is great. It was an easy decision for us. Service and food are always good here, can't complain. Only thing we found to be frustrating was the parking situation. Since my last visit, two new other restaurants have opened in the same complex and there is clearly not enough parking. This is not the restaurant's fault at all, and I hate to even mention it, but it's something for other diners to be aware of."

  • "My boyfriend and I have visited Not Your Average Joe's many many times. Every time we go we come out of there saying "Wow..this is such a great place!" and "I am stuffed!". You can't go wrong with the food variety, customer service from the waitstaff (especially from Mel) and the manager. I love how they offer monthly and weekly specials - makes it affordable to go out and eat :)"
