Our waiter, Cameron, was attentive, friendly and knowledgeable , and served our food at just the right pace. Eclectic menu, something for everyone. Lots of options for kids. Servers go the extra mile to make sure your satisfied and informed. Portions are large but not overwhelming. On this occasion the dish I selected was good but not great - chicken was bland and tough, and the sauce lacked complexity. But the rest of my family had no complaint. It is a dependably very good but the menu is not very creative. If the diner is a chicken fan then there are a multitude of choices. The pizzas are thin crust and delicious. We were seated quickly, and our server was friendly. Vietnamese salmon is a favorite, my husband had the New England Boiled Dinner - although he had to describe it to the server as it was not on the special menu (although in the email we recieved) and the server did not know what a New England boiled dinner was - once the components were described, he knew what we were talking about. The app (flatbread with tomato, cheese and basil) and the meals were great - we have never had a bad experience at NYAJ.
Physical plant-wise, the decor is getting a worn feeling, could maybe use an update and spring cleaning. The food is more inventive than most chain restaurants offer. There is an attempt to include local items.
There are multiple healthier options. I wish there were more whole grain offerings. If you're going to go so far as to serve Isreali couscous, I don't think some quinoa or brown rice would be much of a stretch.
When I feel like splurging, their drinks and deserts are very good. My favorite sorbet - raspberry - has recently been replaced with passionfruit and I really miss the raspberry sorbet. They have a great kids' sundae - a treat but not too much too eat.
Service is always wonderful.
