  • "First time at Nostrana & I was not disappointed. All in our group were pleased with our dining experience and the food. The Insalata Nostrana was very good, as was my tuna entre. Ended with the fresh mint gelato which was excellent. The only downer was our waiter who was very indifferent. Think we will try the outdoor seating area next time."

  • "My husband and I went to Nostrana for our wedding anniversary dinner. We were treated well by the staff and served a delicious meal. The standout dishes: A tomato salad recommended by the waitress, the artisan bread served as an appetizer, and the butterscotch budino we had for dessert. The entrees were also good--we had a mushroom pizza and a pesto sauced pasta--but slightly over seasoned for our taste. We also waited a bit longer than we would have liked to place our dessert order. Still, it was all around a very positive experience and we would definitely go back for another visit."

  • "My wife and I (joined by a golfing friend and his significant other) had a wonderful dinner at Nostrana this past Wednesday evening. Rather than have four entrees and few appetizers we shared two appetizers, two salads, a pizza and two entrees. Every item was delicious. The meal was paced nicely so that we had time for a lot of conversation. We strongly recommend Nostrana for a tasty Italian meal in comfortable surroundings."

  • "Our dinner on the patio was enjoyable and our server made sure we picked good options from the Summer menu. I have been a regular customer for the past 7 years (4x a month). I must say the greeting staff on my last visit was not very customer friendly. I had a reservation for a Monday night. The new host said that he could not seat us at 1 of the 2 empty 4 tops outside because it was against policy. The restaurant was 1/2 empty. We waited 15 minutes until a server convinced the staff to give up one of tables outside. Our wait would have been 35 more minutes for the next 2 top. I understand that there are policies, but bending the rules occasionally is much appreciated and can only be a benefit for the restaurant."

  • "I had the pleasure of dining at Nostrana while on a brief trip to Portland and I could not have had a better time! Our server was friendly and knowledgeable and the ambiance was simply lovely - exposed rafters and an open kitchen really give the restaurant an open, airy atmosphere. My husband had several great beers, while i tried the corsican rose flight which was as refreshing as described. Definitely add an egg to the mushroom pizza - a great call by the manager who stopped by to say hello. the special berry crisp needs to be pre-ordered, but is well worth the planning - it was perfect! I wish i didn't live so far away!"

  • "Really liked the décor here. Super high ceilings allowed for many diners to converse w/o the ambient noise of other places. Service was warm and attentive. Food quality excellent but mostly what I would describe as "blocking and tackling" on basics. We cabbed here from downtown but decided to walk back. If you can get comfortable with the fwy crossings it's a really nice way to burn off the dinner."

  • "We eat here twice a week and this last Friday was the worst food and service ever. There seems to be a lot of turn over in staff. Nobody seems to know what is going on. It took over and hour to get our lunch. Hello Cathy Whimms.... whats the story here? Take care of your loyal customers!"

  • "We'd only been to Nostrana for their late-night happy hour, which is awesome. We brought a guest here for dinner and I felt that some of the food was too expensive for the quality. The porchetta was quite amazing, but the chicken wasn't tender or that interesting. Their signature salad was even better than I'd remembered, but the soup was like an $11 nice vegetable stew. The butterscotch budino is still one of the highlights of eating here. I'd come here again for happy hour but I don't think I would for dinner."

  • "We went there to celebrate my husbands birthday. Honestly we are extreme foodies so maybe my expectations were too high. We only went there bc it was open on a Monday and we had been reccomended by a few friends. The service was awful. I asked the server if they did anythin for birthdays, he said they did a candle and dessert. Well he had it sent to the wrong table and didn't appologize. Honestly he was a Grouch the whole evening. If you don't feel happy, stay home. Do t ruin other peoples evenings. It took him probably 10 min to bring out change after paying and forgot to bring back our leftovers. Not to mention he seemed put off When I asked for more bread. I don't write reviews ever. But this one deserved my honesty."

  • "I can always depend on their outstanding pizza and last visit the Oregon Ahi was delicious tasting and artfully presented. Our waitress was cheerful and fun, taking good care of our group by bringing bread and olive oil right away. Nostrana is the real deal. One of my favorite things is to sit at the counter and watch pizzas being created and baked in the oven. The place has a good vibe and I can go alone and feel very comfortable."

  • "Nostrana is consistently one of the Portland's best: excellent Neapolitan-style pizza and a range of choices, including several gluten-free options (the tuna & white-bean salad is one of our favorites, regardless of GF status). The menu shines and the bar and wine list are expansive, including several flights (even after-dinner wines) that offer variety at a reasonable price. We've never had anything less than a very good meal there. Every night has a theme, but the menu isn't contrived, and it's not gourmet - just fresh and really good. In summer, it's tough to beat a cocktail and/or bottle of dry lambrusco and a pizza on the deck. Consider someplace else if you're in a hurry: not due to the service, but this is best enjoyed at leisure."

  • "We were seated immediately. Received our menus quickly. And the food we had was pretty good. But I find the servers so pretentious. I went once before, a few years ago and felt the same way then. So I didn't go back until now. Maybe servers are trained to be curt and impatient at Nostrana. Maybe they're too rushed or have delusions of grandeur. All in all, it was good, but APizzaScholls has better pizza and Caesar Salad - any day."

  • "My husband and I were given a gift certificate and made a reservation for Friday the 13th. We ordered Salads first and they came promptly and were delicious. We both ordered different Pizza's. I ordered a "Primavera" with snap peas, spinach, green garlic, chili, crème fraîche, raschera cheese, lemon agrumato and my husband ordered a more traditional "Diavola" with spicy sausage, house mozzarella, provolone, tomato, Mama Lil’s peppers. Both were excellent. The waiter was great. I am sorry I don't remember his name. All the staff worked together very well."

  • "We have been to Nostrana before and it was really good. This time however the food was not good at all. The starters were bland and boring (soup for me, salad for my husband) and the mains were horrible. My husband had a pork chop that was undercooked and fatty and my seafood pasta was bland, cold. The prawns were so small you could barely see them and the clams tasted like they'd been frozen (there were all of about 4 also). We barely ate any of it, it was so bad and when we ordered a pizza after sending back almost full plates the waiter didn't even bother to ask why..... Go figure. We're hoping it's just a "one off" because we have really liked the food previously. Disappointing to say the least!! :("

  • "We've been meaning to go here for several years and finally made it! Everything tasted amazing, portions were generous, service was lightning speed quick, and prices were very fair for the high quality of food. One person in our party ordered a pizza and it was huge and so delicious! We will definitely go back, for the pizza and other menu items. I couldn't decide what to order, so need to go back to try other things! The strawberry rhubarb crisp was awesome for dessert. Four of us shared it, which was perfect after our big meals. "

  • "I wanted to celebrate my birthday at Nostrana because I always enjoy their menu and cuisine. I was not disappointed. I started with a rhubarb Negroni, which set the tone. My main course was a tagliatini with chopped razor clams in a lemon/garlic sauce and was outstanding. My husband enjoyed oysters, simple and tasty. I had a flight of local pinot noir wines that had a nice mix of flavors and styles. We finished with a butterscotch buddino, one of the best desserts in town. The salty melted caramel toppings sets off the butterscotch pudding perfectly. I couldn't have been happier."
