Diner Reviews
  • "I specifically asked for my pork chop to be Medium. the pork chop was so tough, I could not even cut it with a knife. The service was lacking. Going down hill big-time!"

  • "My wife and I had many wonderful experiences at the Nosh in Plano and were very sad to see it close. So we figured that we had to try the one in Dallas to see if it lived up to our previous expectations...........and it did! The layout and ambience were very similar to the Plano location and the staff was excellent. One of our favorite things to do is to sit at the counter overlooking the kitchen where we can watch the magic as it happens. The food preparation is incredibly interesting and you always get some special random treats when you sit at the counter and we get to see everything on the menu being prepared so as to get ideas for our next meal. The bar is also very creative and they always some interesting cocktails. Loved it!"

  • "Lorell was a server of perfection. True Foodie and fabulous service. We were delighted to see her every time she arrived at the table. A breath of fresh air."

  • "Better that they review pricing. $12 for a bottle of imported beer and that was the onlly beer they had that evening so no other choice..."

  • "Nosh never disappoints us, whether for lunch or dinner. We had the hamburger, potato latkes, beet salad, and scallops. The only suggestion would be to cut back a little on the pesto sauce on the quinoa that came with the scallops."

  • "Nosh is always consistent with quality of food and the service is always attentive."

  • "The food is very good and the service is good, too. Will come back."

  • "i was embarrassed to have taken a friend for her birthday. Worst service i have seen in a long time. Our wait person did not know the menu or the food, and she left us sitting forever to order in an empty restaurant. She had no idea what cappuccino was, and worst - the manager saw her struggling and did nothing to help, even after he watched her deliver the check before asking if we wanted dessert or coffee. No wonder there were fewer than 5 tables occupied in what used to be a vibrant lunch restaurant!"

  • "I was impressed when I first arrived. Waiter was very attentive, noise level was acceptable, restaurant is lovely. Then, everything changed. The waiter took too long taking our drink order, 10 minutes getting our drinks back and one that had to go back because it was made wrong. Our dinners were good, but not great and we ordered from the daily special blackboard...We got the cookies for dessert, and I ask if they were warm, "oh yes" the waiter replied. They were NOT and just OK in my opinion. I have heard great things about this restaurant, but it totally disappointed."

  • "We decided on a very appetizers but our waiter seemed to push constantly for more food/drinks. The kitchen brought the wrong dish to our table to which the waiter said it was a mistake and got the correct dish. We were charged for both! Overall very expensive and not that good. Great chef but seems to have left the kitchen too much"

  • "This was our first time to NOSH and we weren't disappointed. The food was quite good, though a few of the sides were a touch bland, but I would prefer that to overly salty or spicy. The bartender did a fantastic job with the drinks and our waiter was attentive and knowledgeable. My only real complaint is that our table was next to a window and that caused some crowding. Overall, this is a very good restaurant and we will definitely be back."

  • "The price for value/quality received was not compatible. The portions are entirely too small!! The waitress sold us on the Monday night buttermilk fried chicken special.....stating that it was the best chicken she's tasted in life. However, tastes are certainly subjective because it didn't make the list for the top twenty for me and once again the chicken pieces were really, really small. It looked like a childs plate for $24. There are MANY really good restaurants in the DFW area and I can't see myself visiting Nosh again."

  • "Wow, once again Chef Avner's buttermilk friend chicken satisfied!!! We just had to go! We also loved the spicy beef cigars, the tempura brussel sprouts and dessert! There was a third guest with us who enjoyed the quinoa/brussel sprout dish. At then end we had the bread pudding and the chocolate dessert, both outstanding! Thanks, Chef!!"

  • "An absolutely fantastic evening made possible by attentive, professional and very friendly wait staff, having the eight of us in the wine "cellar" - which made things VERY quiet- and remarkable food and drink."

  • "Very quiet for a Friday night. Food was very good. Ambiance was nice in the sense that it was quiet enough to have a conversation. Biggest critique is that our waitress could not have been more disinterested. Not a people person at all. We felt as if we were inconveniencing her by being there. Not the first time staff had been less than cordial. Sadly there are fabulous waitstaff there- just not our lucky night. Won't be back anytime soon."

  • "My wife and I were craving a burger on Froday night and had heard great things about Nosh. When we arrived we were seated promptly and greeted by our server. I ordered a bud light. About 10 minutes later I was informed by the server that they had run out of bud light and that I needed to pick a different beer. We then both ordered the burger and began the wait for our food. About 5 minutes later, the manager walked over and without any empathy stated, "we'll have to go with plan B. we're out of burgers." After concluding that we wanted to leave instead of ordering something different, the manager did not apologize or offer us anything else. He brought me my bill for the bud light, and the beer was $8! $8 for a domestic bottle of beer!"

  • "Loud, crowded, pricey, not a particularly good value in a city full of excellent restaurants. Food admittedly was very good."

  • "Valentines Day late choice but glad we tried it. I'm sure it is a less frantic place on normal days. Bar was very busy and understaffed. We were seated promptly at our reservation time. Quiet backroom area. Good waiter. Reasonable wine selection. Good appetizers. Great entrees. Prices were as expected for uptown mid-scale. Recommend for a try."

  • "Too expensive for what you get. Didn't even eat one of the meals cause too many bones in the fish. The changed menu for valentines is a poor scam."

  • "I took my friend to lunch for her birthday. I've had dinner here several times and the food is always exceptional. She ordered the shrimp scampi off the chalk board and I had the fried chicken. When food arrived, hers was a tiny bowl of the scampi and I had a large plate of chicken with mashed potatoes and green beans. The chalk board didn't indicate that it was an appetizer size nor did the waitress tell her either. Had to order a bowl of onion soup for my friend so she would have enough to eat. It was embarrassing! When I ordered the big lunch, the waitress should have indicated to my friend that what she ordered was an appetizer. It was all excellent but it would be nice for the management to show on the board what are appetizers."

  • "We used to love this restaurant, but it seems since the departure of Jon the food and service level has decreased A LOT. Everything was late, and the food really had little flavor, which is not easy for Beef Wellington. I felt bad for the waitstaff, as most people were complaining about the service."

  • "Laurel was our waitress and she was amazing! She told us how there is a bakery upstairs where the baker makes all the buns for burgers, homemade ice cream (I had the cloudless chocolate cake and s'mores icecream -to die for) and homemade sorbet. The menu items are unique and refreshing. The fried brussel sprouts as an appetizer were great, as well. Great way to celebrate my mother's birthday, my family and I will definitely be returning in the future."

  • "Only place I know in the city that serves this divine dish. It was cooked perfectly, the pastry was just the right crisp and the juices from the stuffing were wonderful. Try it you will like it as much as I do. Our server was new to us and he was outstanding."

  • "On a Friday at lunch time, the place was pretty quiet. There were 3 servers, no hostess or maitre'd. Our waitress was "dialing it in." We had to ask to order, ask for coffee (after she delivered the check) and then ask for a dessert menu. Very disappointing. Avner would not have approved."

  • "For price of some appetizers and entrees should be larger size servings or charge less. Service staff just average. Too many other choices for dining out with better ambiance, value and service."

  • "Great Food, we went to Nosh for the 2nd time and this time for our anniversary. The platter is great! It has everything from falafel, doma what not with fine pita bread. Ambience is very nice and location is perfect."

  • "I had my 50th birthday dinner here. Food was wonderful. Service was great. A little on the loud side. Hard to hear others in your group. Liked watching the chefs cooking in the kitchen (shown on the TV)."

  • "As far as ambience it's packed with the Park Cities crowd. Entrees were hit or miss. While my wife's short ribs were great my "Pork Steak Porterhouse" (plain old pork chop) was as tough as shoe leather and overdone beyond edible. When pointed out to the server he was going to check with the manager if they would discount our bill? Would not be in a hurry to return any time soon with plenty of other choices in the neighborhood."

  • "It was our first time to dine (lunch) at this Nosh location since the Plano location closed. One of the reasons I selected it was for the veg selections. Excellent reviews by the whole table for the cauliflower mash, french onion soup, seafood salad, quinoa salad, beet salad and the tempura brussels sprouts. Avner was entertaining as well as Gabbe!"

  • "I was so excited to try NOSH, having heard good things about it. We went there with 4 friends (2 other couples). I can't recall ever having such terrible service. Our waiter was simply absent. Our entrees came out in groups of two, about 10-15 minutes apart each. When the first arrived, the waiter told one person that the restaurant was out of the fish they ordered. Yes, two entrees were served and at least one wast not even started. The food was okay, not stunning. We will never return."

  • "I have been to Nosh several times, though this is for the first time in quite a while. I had the ahi tuna and it was better than the last time I had it. It was very flavorful with a good tomato oil sauce and brussel sprout leaves around the dish. My husband had the mixed grill of lamb sausage, beef tenderloin and lamb chops. He loved his dish and the meats were cooked perfectly. We ended the meal with the chocolate cake with marshmallow ice cream. The cake was the perfect sweetness, light and yet very moist. It was almost like a molten lava cake without the "lava"."

  • "Nosh is a fun place to go especially with friends because it is quiet enough so that you don't have to shout at each other over the table. Food is good and always consistent. One of my favorite places to go for lunch and dinner. We will go back."

  • "My business partner and I were looking for a new restaurant in Dallas, as our favorite was closed on Monday nights. We found Nosh through Open Table reviews. Located in an upscale shopping strip, Nosh is a true bistro--with very good appetizers, a soup of the day, a few inexpensive choices, as well as specials that included lamb, steak, and fish. Our Monday night special--fried chicken with gravy (we avoided the mashed potatoes, no matter how good they looked), green beans, and biscuits--was excellent, as were the scallops and cous cous that we had read about on the Open Table reviews. Our server, Lorelle, was excellent as well--with the right mix of friendliness and professionalism. We look forward to returning."

  • "We started at the bar with three great appetizers. Even the hummus was special. (I don't drink, my friend enjoyed the wine.) I first noticed the comfortable chairs and the low key warm atmosphere. Server and bus person were friendly and server had great recommendations. Hostess and others not very welcoming. But the food was top notch. Mixed grill and quail were extremely well done and even the cauliflower mash was good. Entrees had a wide price range from about $15/20 to $45 and up, so suitable some different budgets."
