  • "I cannot tell you how impressed my boyfriend and I were when we ate at NE Social. He's actually from NE, and we were just blown away. The server chose THE EXACT RIGHT BEER for me and THE EXACT RIGHT BEER for my boyfriend to start and then when we decided to share a large bottle of beer, THEY PUT IT IN AN ICE BUCKET FOR US. Amazing. The duck pastrami and pate was unbelievable - the bread perfect. He got the hanger steak with the potato salad and I got the sirloin with barley risotto. So completely perfect, simple, but the flavors just blended together nicely. The only complaint we had was we would have preferred warm potatoes and warm vegetables with the hanger steak. But the potato salad was excellent."

  • "I had the cioppino and the frisee salad. Both were quite good, though the menu should have stated that the plums were dried. A minor over-site. Our server was very attentive, almost a little too aggressive on pushing dessert. But overall it was delightful. The only bizarre part was that we had a reservation for 5pm, and when I walked in there were 4 other tables occupied. For whatever reason, we were placed directly next to one of these tables. I thought that was strange- when it's that quiet, nobody wants to be sitting directly next to anyone. I'd go back though. Can't wait to see what new dished will come out next."

  • "The food at NE Social is good but not great and not good enough to feel good about the price. When I pay $24-28 for the entree I expect really great flavors and a well put together plate. We had flank steak that had way to much vinegary sauce on it. The first bite was good but after that it was over-whelming. The meat needed to rest on the edge of the plate and drain a bit before eating it. The crab risotto was made of good ingredients but the flavors were just odd together. It was disappointing especially for $28. The atmosphere is good, wine, salad and bread were all great."

  • "Our food was amazing, we started with a scollop appetizer that was served with daikon radishes and chili sprigs. My husband and i both ordered the Salmon special. It was hands down the best piece of Salmon i have had in a very long time. Cooked med rare over wild rise with a very light herb sauce and mixture of vegetables. Our waiter was wonderful and very knowledgeable (Michael)."

  • "Went to the Social for Valentines Day dinner and would not recommend this in future. The Social has all small single tables set appx. 10"-12" apart. Therefore there is no privacy whatsoever. The noise level was so high we could not hear one another without nearly shouting. The food however was fantastic!"

  • "I think it was way overpriced. and talk about nickel and diming! we ordered a full order of beef carpaccio for a starter ($18) and it only came with 4 little pieces of crostini. we asked if we could get more crostini. we received 3 more pieces. on our bill we were charged an additional $1 which seems really petty. my friend ordered a ceasar salad for her starter and the server asked her If she would like anchovies on her salad. she said ok. well, she was charged an additional $2 for saying ok. we were never told in either case there was an upcharge. thought both of these charges were super petty .... especially when our bill was almost $200! plus it took almost 45 minutes to get our main entrée."

  • "Planning to attend a show at the Ritz Theater next door, I was pleasantly surprised to see another fine dining option in this neighborhood and we thoroughly enjoyed our meal. The service was excellent and we found the interior nicely decorated with interesting pieces of original art. We appreciated the restaurant's use of local sourced and the very creative preparation and presentation of the meal. Every course was delicious and we plan to return when in the neighborhood again."

  • "Even though the restaurant was only half full the hostess seated us next to the windows and 2 feet from the entrance door on one of the coldest nights of the season. Needless to say I am so stupid to believe her when she told us it did not get cold there. It totally diminished our whole dining experience. It's hard to enjoy yourself when you are uncomfortable. Food was excellent. Server was slow to get around to us, but once he did, he was very knowledgeable. Wait staff was attentive. Hostess was an idiot. If I return it will be in the warm weather months."

  • "We're pretty regular at the restaurant and it hasn't disappointed. With the menu always changing, we try to have different appetizers. The Chorizo Hushpuppies were a unique start to the menu. I had the Pork Chop with Apple Sauerkraut and Carrots. The pork chop and carrots were cooked well and the sauerkraut added some balance to the dish. I wasn't a fan of the thinly slice apples in the sauerkraut as it was too tart for my taste. My wife had the market fish, a marlin with a couscous curry. It was very delicious. We finished the meal with the coffee cake which had some orange zest which gave a light / citrus finish to the meal. We shared a bottle of the French House wine. Our waiter was friendly and attentive. Couldn't ask for more"

  • "Cheese appetizer was a pleasant surprise. The pork chop with sauerkraut and carrots was sooo yummy. I am going back to have it again. Reminded me of things my grandmother used to make, only better. The steak and swordfish were also very good. The wine list needs a little work as do the desserts. Decor is nice and waitress was friendly and efficient. The hostess, well let's just say she doesn't make people feel welcome. Go there. You'll love it."

  • "Outstanding food. Professional, but not personable, staff. With a bottle of wine and 2 beers, no dessert or appetizers, the bill was about 170.00 for four and worth it. There would be great meals for less as three of us had the specials (outstanding fish!). There is a early menu as well as a late night one that looks very affordable & on our list to return for. The noise is bearable and we managed a conversation thru it, but with everybody at all the tables talking loudly to be heard, the noise is just above the "friendly" level and would kill a romantic evening. There is a 'trendy neighborhood' feeling to the place which is totally appropriate and good. We will go back."

  • "Don't let the small menu scare you, this is the signature of a great restaurant! The food was quite good, especially for the price. If you enjoy alcohol with your meal and like to have a few drinks after finishing this is the place for you. We had the beef carpaccio to start. It was not the best I've ever had but it was still VERY good (8.5/10). I had the chicken as an entree and it wasTHE best chicken I've had in Minneapolis thus far (9.5/10). The flavor was great, and the broccolini was also fantastic. The only downside was that it was so loud that I couldn't hear the specials that the waiter was trying to tell me. I think it would be great if there was a chalkboard listing the specials for the day. I will certainly be back again."

  • "The most expensive Chardonnay was off. Menu was unappealing with no specials. The market cheese was one small chunk of manchego and some toasted baguette - uninspiring. Pork belly was a hunk of soggy fat with a bit of meat on a lettuce leaf. Vile. Picked plate was nice cauliflower with a hint of cumin. Bland sausage. Quail egg. Had the sirloin steak main. Nicely presented, flavor was good, but it was hard to cut and barely edible it was so tough. Rosemary panna cotta was very good. Cherry pie thing was doughie. Asked for a latte - the espresso machine had been broken for 2 weeks. Don't know if they have changed supplier and downgraded their ingredients, or If they have got a new unimaginative chef ..... Either way, they have lost the plot!"

  • "This was our first time to Northeast Social. We will be back, with each other, with other people, we will recommend it to our friends. The service was top notch from the hostess greeting us to the bartender waving goodbye with a smile as we left. Our server knew the menu well and recommended great choices. The wait assistant was very attentive and professional. I was especially impressed at how he split our salad at the table for us. I loved that the tomatoes had the skin removed. The food was excellent. Your chef knows his stuff. The flavor combinations were amazing."

  • "We went to Northeast Social because we had purchased a good deal on Living Social and believed it looked like it would be good. But we were wrong. It was FABULOUS! The omelet I had ranked as one of the best I've ever eaten; it was not just the standard omelet ingredients, but rather fresh, different ingredients made a wholly different taste experience. The coffee is served by the carafe that is brewed fresh when ordered. The sausage was obviously fresh and not pre-packaged. And it goes on and on. We can't wait to return for brunch, and intend to try them for dinner as well."
