Diner Reviews
  • "Food was great. Everything we had was delicious. But plain white tablecloth covered tables is all I remember of the ambiance. They should take the look up a notch so you feel like you're dining in a special place."

  • "Exceptional food and service. Exceeded expectations."

  • "I continue to enjoy having dinner at North but remain puzzled why the wait staff has not evolved to a higher level of service. While there are a number of waiters/waitresses who match the quality of the food, the bus boys continue to be subpar. They consistently rush to take away plates/glasses before all diners are finished. The meal on Wednesday was a perfect example where they asked my guest four times in the space of 10 minutes whether he was done after removing my plate earlier almost before the fork landed on the plate. With the best food and wine list in Westchester, it continues to amaze me that this continues as the restaurant has matured"

  • "Haven't been back here in over a year, but I'm glad we found our way back. The beet salad was marvelous as was the pasta with mushrooms. Scallops for the main could not be better! And the dessert-- the warm cookie in the skillet with ice cream! WOW"

  • "Everything was wonderful!! Attentive service, nice size portions, great drinks and sides. Had no complaints!! Can't wait to go back!"

  • "It is extremely rare that I rate a restaurant with 5 stars. I require all aspects to be outstanding. North fits the bill. The food was excellent -- booming with flavors and all super interesting. Service was top notch... friendly and with good humor and deep knowledge of the food and wine. Portion size felt initially a touch small, but by the end of the evening, I was pleasantly stuffed without feeling that "bring me a bucket" feeling I often get after a Saturday evening meal. And finally, the bill was reasonable ... We spent $175 per couple having had drinks, appetizers, entrées, desserts and coffees. North is an all-around excellent restaurant. The farm-to-table menu will surely be another adventure the next time we dine there."

  • "This was our most disappointing visit. The wait service was very good, the busing was poor. My fish was way overcooked, I should have sent it back and I don't know why I didn't. The coffee was tepid in temperature and again we should have said something. Lastly, they push the "house" dessert a warm chocolate chip cookie. It was lousy. We didn't finish it nor did all the other tables around us who also ordered it. Our friends have also found the food very inconsistent."

  • "Phenomenal. Our evening was perfect. Only critique is desert menu is disappointing. Their standout desert is warm chocolate chip cookie (which is delicious) - enough said. Coffee/tea service great! If you haven't been here, make it a point to dine here. Since the menu changes frequently I look forward to returning soon."

  • "One of the best restaurants in Westchester. Worth the trip for excellent food and service in a beautiful setting."

  • "Great food, well-prepared with some very progressive choices on the menu. Interesting choices on the cocktail menu also. the service was also excellent, knowledgable, AND friendly--hard to find that combination."

  • "I met a friend there for lunch. My companion loved her meal. Mine was very good. The portions are quite large, Though they were not packed the service was poor. I had to call the waitress over for pepper for my salad & again for grated cheese for the pasta dish. She was not good at refilling the water glasses either. We both asked for the leftover to take home. I was going to have the rest of mine as dinner. I was shocked when I opened the cardboard container to see that they simply lobbed the pasta in w/o placing it in a separate container first. For a high end place some of these issues are unacceptable."

  • "Coming to the restaurant for restaurant week, I didn't expect nearly half of what was presented. All food, from bread to apps to dessert tasted so fresh and homemade. There was nothing that I didn't like. The portion sizes were amazing and the complimentary scallops along with the take home muffins at the end were a wonderful extra! Seeing the normal menu along side the restaurant week menu, I thought the prices were great and the wine/beer list was extensive. All around great experience and I'll be back! Especially for the amazing cookie!"

  • "the food for restaurant week was really special and I loved the attentive service given to our group. They even had a delicious restaurant week wine which was a great drink for the price. To top it off they gave a muffin to take home for each guest. I planned on only eating a bit but it was so good I ate the whole thing."

  • "My guest and I were unfortunately disappointed by our meals. The food was heavy and too salty. There were so many fries piled on her hamburger plate that it was unpleasant to look at, and they tasted disappointingly mealy. Hope this was just due to the rush of Restaurant Week, but our foccacia bread, which promised to be delicious, was cold and sodden. My guest was first told she could not have bread with her drink while she waited for me because it was not usually served until the meal was ordered. Strange! It was served when I got there...we asked if it could be warmed up, and were told it's usually served warm, but no one warmed it up, despite our 2 requests. The rest of the service was very animated and accommodating."

  • "Truly the best food in Westchester. From the first bite of the squash focaccia to the last lick of the chocolate chip cookie sandwich, North outpaced all its competition to the South, East and West. The staff is knowledgeable and devoted to the mission and the wine selections fit all budgets, with an excellent representation of NY-based wineries. The takeaway muffins were memorable and didn't make it to Breakfast. The only negative: the need to book way in advance due to its well deserved popularity."

  • "My wife and I went there based on a recommendation from our daughter. We had one of the most enjoyable meals ever. It was the best "restaurant week" dinner we've ever had and one of the finest dining experiences in a long time. The staff was top notch - they were very attentive without being obtrusive. On top of everything they allow you to BYOB(one bottle). Enough said - we are fans!"

  • "Food was very good. it was restaurant week so a great time to try it. Wine by the glass very expensive. Would have been nice to have a by the glass special price as opposed to a bottle special price as my dining companion and I don't like the same type of wine. Ambiance ok-pretty bland feeling. Server overly pleasant but not sincere. Will I want run back and have another meal? Probably not but I wouldn't rule out a visit sometime in the future."

  • "North had delicious food and our server was very attentive. I loved the scallops. We had a few requests that even confused me, but she just went with the flow and catered to everyone's needs. The tables were very close together which made the noise level high, but perhaps because it was restaurant week."

  • "Wewere looking forward to our return to one of our favorite restaurants. Brought first timers, who based on our raves were pleased to see the Restaurant Week Menu. Seated promptly , proper attention paid to all of our questions, and requests. Bread served, order taken, first course served. Then the wait. One must assume that the 4th time weare offered bread, the wait is just too long. After 45 minutes our server understandingly replied to our request for dinner , that the kitchen is backed up. No apology, no offer of something other than bread to satisfy our hunger. Once served, delicious , but barely replaced our disappointment at a less than satisfactory dining experience."

  • "We were thrilled to find North and it's dedication to local produce and fine dining. Exquisitely executed dishes burst with layers of nuanced, thoughtful flavor. It's been a while since we've enjoyed a meal this much. From the creative and thoroughly enjoyable cocktails down to the bread and butter, every bite had impact. Aspects of North reminded me and my husband of the best of Northern California cuisine that we've missed since moving back East. The restaurant itself has a sleek and elegant, yet warm and relaxed vibe. The service was attentive and super friendly without being overbearing. Every dish boasted the freshest of ingredients and the flavor profiles were complex but beautifully balanced and clean. We'll be back soon!"

  • "We didn't know it was restaurant week. The restaurant was completely full. We sat down, no one asked us if we wanted a drink, had to ask for menus. We had to get up and ask for some bread as it had been 20 minutes, no drink no bread. Finally ordered with a different waiter, mushroom flatbread was delicious. Dinner was awful, cheeseburger bun, completely charred black, crab cake was awful, certainly not lump crab, very stringy, was supposed to have a soft boiled egg on top, it was raw and runny. OH WELL!! Later asked the waiter what was going on, he said three of their wait staff didn't show up because of "personal problems" If they knew that they should not have taken our reservation."

  • "The menu could be a little more varied or expanded. The plating needs a little work,(The swordfish on ground up mushroom sauce was not very attractive, white on gray). For the prices one would expect a little more."

  • "We returned for Restaurant Week dinner after having been here many times before. We've loved it in the past and this time was no different: all 3 of the appetizers we tried, the roasted apples and bacon, pumpkin risotto and beet and barley soup were delicious and unique. Entrees of seared tuna and a beef two ways were great, topped off with the signature skillet cookie with ice cream. Service was prompt and professional, and our table in the corner near the bar was cozy and surprisingly not too loud despite a full house. North is our "go to" restaurant for special occasions and a "normal" night there is also something to savor."

  • "I grew up in tiny Armonk, NY and must admit that fine dining was never a part of the picture there. Since North opened several years ago, that picture has changed for the good. North is the equal of any farm to table restaurant in New York City or anywhere else. I put it up there with Blue Hill at Stone Barns and Narcissa at The Standard Hotel on Cooper Square. Really delicious food, a great wine list, local beer on tap, attentive staff, and not as pricey as those other two ;) You cannot go wrong if you set your compass to true NORTH!"

  • "We went during restaurant week and it was noisy, despite being rather late (after 8:00) during the week. The menu was limited; the chicken was outstanding; the tilefish was bland. As usual the dessert chocalate chip cookie was to die for."

  • "North is a treasure. We had a party of 5 and dined during Hudson Valley Restaurant Week. I started with an escarole salad that had a caesar dressing, it was perfect. My friend had the kale salad with quinoa, it was lovely with a light lemon dressing. For my entree I had the pan roasted chicken (I broke my rule of never ordering chicken out because I make it at home so often). The chicken was the best I have ever had, earthy and moist. For dessert I had the panna cotta, and it was absolutely divine. Our server was very friendly and still professional. They also offered a couple of nice wines from Long Island to go along with the Restaurant Week choices. Tip: You should request a table downstairs, much better people watching:)"

  • "We visited Restaurant North during Restaurant Week. The restaurant was bustling, but the wait staff were making the service go smoothly. Our waitress knew all the entrees and how they were made and what was included on the dish. A "BRAVO" to her; I'm sorry I didn't get her name. Food was outstanding, starting with the roasted pig and ending with the huge, freshly prepared chocolate chip cookie a la mode. You shouldn't miss going to this restaurant!"

  • "We came to North during restaurant week because the owner/chef, Eric Gabrynowicz, was written up in the Journal News and has ben nominated for a James Beard award. The food was great, the service was wonderful and the evening was a complete pleasure. We would enthusiastically recommend North to our friends and look forward to coming there again! Best wishes to Eric with the James Beard award!"
