Diner Reviews
  • "We were seated on the second floor which is totally devoid of ambience. The service was excellent and the food was very good but my steak was undercooked and nothing special. It was fairly expensive. I wouldn't go back. Too many better choices in the vicinity including Moderne Barn."

  • "Each time North does not disappoint. Went with friends who had never been and they were effusive in their praise. Bobo's chicken may be the most delicious chicken dish on the planet. Always have to save room for the chocolate chip cookie in the skillet with Killer Chocolate ice cream. Can't wait to return."

  • "Restaurant has a limited menu with very high prices, but dishes very flavorful and creative."

  • "This is a great oasis for foodies tucked into the charming village atmosphere of Armonk. The roasted pig on the prix fixe menu was memorable as was the entire dining experience. A business lunch or a break from the usual daily routine are perfect reasons to splurge on this excellent restaurant."

  • "This was our second visit and there will be more in the future. The food is very good and there are ample choices. Portion sizes were reasonable, although prices are on the high side. All four of us had different items and we were unanimous in our positive opinions. The wine list is a bit eclectic, and prices are fair (we had a delicious Macari Chardonnay, a Long Island vintner). The ever changing menu makes for an interesting evening, but also can be a challenge for those with allergies and particular diets. However, the plethora of gluten-free items is a pleasant aspect. Overall it is an excellent dining experience albeit at a high price."

  • "We were very happy the ambiance, wine, and food service. But two of us ordered the cavatelli with lobster for $29 entree size portions only to be disappointed. There was no taste, the consistency of the pasta was that of day old play-doh, and where was the lobster? The other members of our party were pleased with their entree so maybe we just picked the wrong entree. But for that price tag and the outstanding reviews, we expected much more. We won't give the restaurant a second chance. It was that bad. If you go, just don't order pasta to be on the safe side."

  • "Very disappointed Portion of tile fish minuscule and I'm not a big eater! Pork was so poorly presented: looked like a block of reconstituted pig. Servers perfume was pretty but not good when having wine. Same for one of the busboys. Too bad went twice b4 and enjoyed it well enough Figured the oration size had been corrected bc so many reviews mentioned it Guess the owner doesn't read open table reviews"

  • "My wife and I go for lunch often, dinner sometimes, and the food is always excellent. I want to point out our waitress on several occasions, Maria, is amazing. She is knowledgeable, courteous, very helpful and professional. My wife is a on again, off again vegan and Maria always has the kitchen prepare something delicious for her. We hope to see her every time we go, as she is just as integral as the food for a amazing dining experience."

  • "Everything was great, dinner portion on the small side."

  • "Food lacked character and depth. Sauces of little flavor. Items within each dish ill suited to each other. A bland dinning experience."

  • "Innovative food and incredible service makes this one of the best restaurants I've eaten at in westchester. Decor is nicer downstairs but it's louder and the tables are closer together."

  • "lose the salt shaker. there is a tendency to over salt everything except the desert."

  • "I love how the menu changes and the food is always excellent. I have come a few times and will come more often since the servers are very good, knowledgeable, and they are not intrusive. I enjoy the atmosphere. The night goes seamlessly and can be romantic, especially if you sit upstairs where it is quieter."

  • "warm greeting--seated on time , server was extremely accommodating. the 'farm to table " mixed green salad was adequate at best--and overpriced at $15.00. the fish was bland and a professional model eats larger portions. the portion was on or close to 2 ounces with only 3 snap peas , basically a mini appetizer not even close to a normal entree ! even considering the gracious staff , highly unlikely we would even think about returning."

  • "North delivers! From the atmosphere (casual, yet chic and sophisticated) to the staff to the food, North hits every high note. As a chef, it is rare I can fully enjoy a complete meal. Yet this is what I experienced at North. The foie gras was perfectly seasoned with delicious strawberries cutting the richness. The mushroom flatbread was as flavorful as any mushroom dish I have eaten. Hazelnut Encrusted Egg. Wow! The main course of Roasted Pig did not disappoint either. The crispy skin was unbelievable. Package that and it will replace potato chips in the mainstream. The staff was attentive and charming. Thank you Eric and your staff for a great evening."

  • "Was very excited to finally get into North. However, the foi gras appetizer was a total fail (partly due to the odd bit of marshmallow that accompanied it), the hazelnut encrusted egg was overcooked, and the sauce that accompanied the tile fish made the dish practically inedible. The stark white walls and tables upstairs left you feeling cold. Now I understand why it was relatively easy to get the reservation in the first place."

  • "usually excellent, but food was just ok tonight. a bit salty."

  • "Friendly, informative service. We eat upstairs for first time. Much quieter and and not as much hustle with no bar there. My only hitch with this restaurant is that the very pretty first floor is exceptionally noisy. But the bar is a busy place."

  • "Very pleased with our first visit to this restaurant. Excellent food, the waiter was knowledgeable about the wines and made fantastic pairing recommendations throughout the meal. Looking forward to another visit."

  • "We went for my daughter's high school graduation. There were 7 of us and there were mixed reviews. We all liked the food, which was interesting and tasty, but not everyone agreed they would go back. I loved it and would definitely go back. The food was fresh and presented in an artistic and delicious way."

  • "I have been meaning to get to North for some time. It has gotten raves ever since it opened. But I have to say it was not worth the wait. The staff is outstanding. Personable, helpful and extremely competent - even the busboy was exceptional! The food was good, but not great. We had two of the pasta dishes and the chicken - all were tasty and nicely prepared, but very definitely overpriced and, while I am a fan of using local ingredients - it isn't the be all and end all for me. The gluten free bread was very good, but no better than most breads at good restaurants. The chocolate chip skillet we had for dessert was average at best. It is a small restaurant with a low ceiling and the noise level on a weekday evening was awful."

  • "Our dinner was, as always, fantastic. The food is always outstanding. The staff are friendly and able to carry on good-natured banter--as well as alert and attentive. A very professional operation. Always a pleasant experience."

  • "I've been to North before, but not in a while. Looks great, excellent service. However, the pasta w/ fresh tomatoes was disappointing: the tomatoes were in huge chunks and not cored, and frankly rather tasteless. Lamb carbonara was a great idea, but overly strong flavored and too rich. The spinach salad had almost no spinach in it (instead, it had lots of other greens, and was delicious, but not what I'd ordered). My daughter's salad with bacon contained enormous slabs of slightly undercooked bacon - very chewy and althogether too much. The scallops were excellent, but for a rather boring vegetable terrine in the center, but my hubby says the pollack was disappointing. At $75 prix fix, without wine, I felt it was overpriced."

  • "Let me first say that the service was the best I've experienced. I never had to ask for anything, wave anyone down, and our glasses were never empty. The owners need to commend their staff. As for the food, it was very good, unique, but a tad too fancy (I'm a Bronx kid). Every we ate from the bread to dessert was perfectly cooked/prepared. The pickled-grape risotto was creamy and smooth. Their version of caesar salad was also good. The roasted pig had a it too much bacon, but the piece of pork itself was tender and delicious. The honey sriracha sauce made the dish. The Bobo's chicken was moist and tasty, but I am glad my wife got it and I didn't. The chocolate cookie was gooey goodness. Overall, I recommend this place w/o a doubt."

  • "A foodie's home-run -- creative choices, impeccably prepared, engaged servers. The problem is at the host's table on entering, and I've experienced multiple times at North - a violation of a basic rule of operating a restaurant: never make your patrons feel they're less important than OTHER patrons. I've sometimes requested a different table than the one I'm directed to, only to be told that "that one is for a friend of the owner" or even "that's for an important customer." It's stunning and embarrassing to hear that -- almost enough to make me never want to return!!! Note to Owner: TRAIN YOUR HOSTS! EVERY guest should be important to you - and made to FEEL that way! (And it costs you absolutely NOTHING to do this!)"

  • "Overall we enjoyed our evening here. The service was outstanding. The food, however, was a hit or miss. Some dishes we loved, like the duck rillette appetizer. Others, we just ok, like the pork entree which was basically sliced pork sitting in sriracha sauce. My only complaints: noise and wine list. The wine is vastly overpriced -- which explained patrons bringing their own. "

  • "Everything about North was lovely... except for the food. Our pasta entrees lacked character and depth of flavor. The decor and staff were so nice that I'd be willing to give it another shot if someone else initiated."

  • "Keep going back expecting greatness from this place, but it's never achieved that level. This was another good meal. Service was very slow. All the food was fine, but nothing stood out. "

  • "I was not expecting a world class farm to table restaurant a mere ten minutes from my mom's home in the Greenwich back country. But North was it. The octopus appetizer was delicious. The lamb dish was also good if a little undercooked. I forget what else I had. But I loved the meal and will definitely return."
