A word from NoRTH - Tucson
North is offering a prix fixe menu and accepting reservations this Valentines Day! Please visit our website to view the menu and contact the restaurant directly to save your seat. We hope you will join us! Thanks, North
We’ve turned a modern lens on traditional Italian cooking. North Italia is our love letter to Italy—a place that’ll make you feel like you’ve stepped off a charming side street to discover a culinary gem. After a decade in business, we’ve learned a thing or two and we’re approaching perfection in the art of handmade pasta and pizza. Every day, we start from scratch to create dishes like Strozzapreti with Bloomsdale spinach or supple ribbons of tagliatelle for our Bolognese. Our pizza is a revelation: an airy, barely chewy center embraced by a perfectly crisp crust. With the spirit of the Italian taverna, North is the place to talk shop over a cocktail or swap gossip sharing delectable chef creations.Every neighborhood would be lucky to have a place like North.

  • "We had a lovely lunch. The food was great, as was the service."

  • "I've been to North many times and usually had good experiences, but everything was a bit off tonight - especially the food."

  • "We've been wanting to go here for some time, and finally made it. Now we regret not going sooner! The menu was so fabulous, it was actually hard to narrow down an order. Really nicely put together. Each dish that came to our table was impeccable and better than the next. The pork was so completely delicious, it, regretfully, has now ruined us for pork elsewhere. The waitstaff was professional waitstaff, which was so refreshing. Knew the menu; knew the wines -- extremely helpful. The general manager is Italian, and also extremely knowledgable, caring, engaging and hands on. Atmosphere is modern, contemporary, casual, open. There is nothing not to love about this place! Would highly recommend to foodies and non-foodies alike."

  • "We went to North-Tucson with friends and had a wonderful time; we were greeted warmly and immediately taken to our table. The service was very good - knowledgeable wait-staff and attentive to our special needs. The food was prepared as stated on the menu and tasty; one person from our party has food allergies and the North chef prepared a menu item specifically tailored to meet her needs - a nice touch. North has an energy about it; while it can get a bit loud at times, the size of the main dining room handles the noise easily - We have had brunch and dinner at North-Tucson and extremely pleased with both experiences. We look forward to returning to North again in the future."

  • "Went for dinner on the 4th if July thinking we could see the various fireworks displays around town. Turns out the view is better from the parking lot. Food was okay but uninspired. Better food venues exist downtown..."

  • "Awesome artichoke, beet salad, and amazing pasta. super fresh food and cool ambiance. will definitely go back next time im in town."

  • "North is always our go-to celebratory/date night any time we are in town. The food is always amazing. I had the strozzapretti pasta and my husband had the margaherita pizza. Calamari, grilled bread for appetizers. Honestly anything at North will satisfy. The "donut holes" for a bday treat were sinful! The best part about our dinner was our server Drew. Most delightful, fun, interesting and attentive server we've ever had. Brunch on Sunday...French toast is must, coffee great and they made special pancakes (not on menu) for my husbands bday. All around amazing place start to delicious finish!"

  • "Food is delicious; The Italian Farm with the Salmon is perfect. They had an Burrata salad that was the perfect dish, ask for it………"

  • "Great tasting food! Louder atmosphere. Gets very busy so it can be loud. Good for a group or a "fun" evening."
    Dined on 6/21/2014
  • "Way too loud for quiet romantic conversation. The echo was huge."
    Dined on 6/26/2014
  • "The table was ready when we arrived however I was disappointed after making a reservation and specifying that it was my daughter's 15th birthday, that there was nothing special at her place or even a dessert on the house. Many other restuarants in the area offer those niceties. We each had a different dish, and though there were 5 of us, only 2 had eaten there before. The entrees rated from excellent to good while the appetizer was excellent and got a positive 2 thumbs up from everyone."

  • "We ate early because we remembered that the noise level gets really loud, especially on a Saturday night. The noise level was loud, but not intolerable and we were able to carry on a conversation at a "normal" level. The food was very good and the service was very good. Our waiter was excellent, but the young lady he had helping him was not. We asked for several things from her including just more water and she forgot every time or didn't bother to come back to us each time. In the end, we stopped another staff member for a bottle of water. The "good" rating for service comes from a combination of excellent for our waiter and one star for the young lady who apparently had better things to do like go and stand around."

  • "The evening started off badly. Seems nobody was assigned our table--or recalled that they were. A young man sprang into action and turned the evening from a demerit into a lovely experience. Service here has historically been somewhat helter-skelter which is more a function of the pace of business and the energetic style of the place. But to their credit, a good recovery adds to the professional impression in this instance. Great pastas, and a solid selection of wines in multiple sizes. This may become a default haunt--both at the bar and in the dining room!"

  • "The concept had worn a few years ago and as the Fox group of restaurants tend to do, they took time to reinvent--both the menu and to a lesser extent the space. Both were worth doing and turned out quite well. The menu sparkles with new items, including steam mussels and a calamari/arugula salad/appetizer that is wonderfully balanced. The wine list is balanced and fairly priced. The staff, upbeat and available. The main courses have some new items but retain the feel and style of the original style. The noise level is only slightly improved--but it seems more tolerable than it once was without compromising the open/airy look."

  • "Dined at NoRTH again for Father's Day & my Mother-in-Law's 80th birthday! The food was simply amazing, as always, and we loved the tiramisu desserts. The total check is always right around $100 for four or five people, before the tip, which is well deserved. My family and I will continue to visit this restaurant whenever possible."

  • "We always enjoy going to North. Food is great. The pasta is fresh. Would prefer water not being from sink."
    Dined on 6/11/2014
  • "Great spot! The only concern is the noise level....you can't carry on a conversation. If you're looking for "happening" place, this is it. If you are interested in talking to your table mates...you may not want to dine at North."
    Dined on 6/7/2014
  • "food great but service not so good this time...waiter was not in the vicinity to ask for water, wine or dessert"
    Dined on 6/7/2014
  • "North is a nice, casual, bustling restaurant with very good food/beverages and atmosphere. Happy hour prices are good. WE had two beers, split a salad and each had a margharita pizza and the bill came to $35.00. Service was attentive and good. "

  • "Greeted and seated right away with reservation. Staff is polite and attentive. Service delays too long. Only minimum required visit to the table. Had to remake the pizza so the $100 other foods was left under the lights. Pasta was pasty, fish was sweaty and gross. Veggies on $27 branzino were soupy and under cooked. I couldn't finish the mess and complained. They insisted on sending us home with Tira misou but made us wait *more*. After 10 min we left. The waitress found us in the parking lot to hand off the dessert which was nice. Overall experience was less than a $150 value. "

  • "Visited Tucson for a day trip with my brother. We eat lunch at NoRTH. Service was slow, food was just okay and seating was terrible. I have been to many other FOX Restaurants places and I'm a fan but this time was disappointed. "

  • "The rating on noise level should be changed - it is much too noisy to be considered energetic. I could not talk easily with my date, had to almost shout to her so she could hear me. You need to put some ceiling tiles that would absorb all the noise."

  • "Best mussels this side of San Francisco! Salads are generous, fresh and flavorful. Delightful and attentive service. "

  • "The Mediterranean Sea Bass was very good, but I thought it was overpriced. The service was excellent. We sat outside where it was much quieter."

  • "Excellent restaurant! Casual, with great food, nice and attentive servers. Definitely a destination place for many people of all ages. "

  • "We had another fine dinner at NoRTH. While there are a few of our favorites that have gone away over the years, there are several items on the menu that make it worth coming back for. We love the zucca chips! The food was great, as usual (we both had the short ribs) and the serve was excellent. While many like NoRTH for the bar service, we like to just sit down for a quiet dinner. This is the only detraction, the noise from the bar, but it is still worth going there."

  • "North is a great dining experience. Although noisy because of the open floor design, the tables provide enough intimacy for moderate conversation. The food at North is great-fresh ingredients, creatively prepared and presented, and the kitchen is flexible for special requests. Prices are reasonable for the quality. The wait-staff and hostesses are pleasant and attentive without being intrusive. Management also makes a point in visiting each table to get feedback from the patrons. Sunday was the first time we tried brunch at North and enjoyed it tremendously. Although the place was extremely busy because of Mother's Day, we were promptly seated and service was not slow at all."
    Dined on 5/11/2014
  • "I could and have gone on about this place, but bottom line, we can't get enough of North. The staff is always attentive and while our 2 yr son can be energetic, everyone treats him as if he is one of the family. Best part of brunch at North - no set menus on holidays, thus you can eat & drink as much or as little as you want. Last but not least, the food, tried the eggs and white polenta....oh heavens...with spinach... just say yes. Just say...YES!"
    Dined on 5/11/2014
  • "The food is outstanding, however, the portions are very small, especially for the price. The last two times I've been there I left still hungry after eating an entrée. I'm not a big eater so smaller portions are what I prefer but this restaurant is taking small portions to an extreme. I most likely will not dine here again because of that. "

  • "We had a quiet spot in the shade on the patio, good service. Lovely!"
    Dined on 5/10/2014
  • "Flat, hard surfaces create a loud, often irritating dining experience. The closeness of tables, combined with the box-like interior, on a crowded Saturday night make for a sound level that is harsh, distracting, and in our case, the tables on both sides of us had 4-6 people and often we could not engage in conversation because we were drowned out on both sides. The associate, who comes by to see how diners are doing, often gets between tables not just to show more personal customer attention, but simply to hear the customers while speaking to them. When the associate 'works' a table, his/her backside is uncomfortably close to the diners sitting at the next table. "

  • "including the pasta which is made on site in front of you. The last few times I have gone I could not move beyond getting the Strozzapreti because it's very fresh including the pasta. The flavor to is awesome. I copied the ingredients from the menu below. I have had other good dishes from their menu, but right not I am stuck on this one. chicken, roasted mushrooms, bloomsdale spinach, toasted pine nuts, parmesan cream"
    Dined on 5/10/2014
  • "It's too bad that the noise level at NoRTH is so overwhelming. Conversation is not possible when the restaurant is busy. In addition to the bad acoustics, the music is too loud which adds to the din. I don't think we'll come back, unless of course we go there with folks we DON'T want to talk to during dinner!!"

  • "Have been increasingly disappointed with North lately. Service not that great and there are so many new restaurants in Tucson, especially downtown. Probably won't go back for a while "
