A word from North Shore Kula Grille
The ancient Hawaiians divided their land into three sections: Mauka, kula and makai – or mountains, midland and the sea – known as ahupua ‘a. It is the kula lands, primarily used for agriculture, that now serve as the inspiration for the North Shore Kula Grille.

Welcome to a place where farm-to-table thinking is behind every ingredient on our menu. Where fresh means seasonal produce picked just a few minutes away; where seafood is sourced daily from local waters; and where premium meats and poultry are raised with the utmost care on small-scale Hawaii farms and ranches.

At the North Shore Kula Grille you can explore the flavors of our islands as they have been enjoyed for centuries – naturally, with organic artisan farming and harvesting practices, showcasing the rich agricultural history of Hawaii and the North Shore in every dish.

  • "The sense of warm aloha was felt from the time we arrived to we departed. The staff was awesome and very accommodating to our group. The cornbread was great!!!! The drinks were oh so yummie. As for the food...WOW! Very tasty and delicious! We had such a great time...thank you!"

  • "My boyfriend and I are both celiac and were nervous we were not going to be able to find much GF variety on our trip; however, our waitress was super knowledgeable and accommodating. Service was great and everyone at the restaurant was super friendly. We even made a second trip back the next night."

  • "The resort is outstanding. The food and restaurant was pretty good...did wow me, just a restaurant. The food was good and the buffet was well laid out. It's really hard to say anything negative about a setting on the ocean like Turtle Bay."

  • "We had dinner as friends and had an awesome experience! The food was good and reasonably priced. The service was exceptional."

  • "Great view of the ocean, but service was lacking. Had to get the servers attention to get juice for our breakfast. Server was not very friendly like I expected the islanders to be. I don't even think she introduced herself or welcomed us to the restaurant or resort. Only interest was to push the breakfast buffet. I ordered off the menu for the Banana Macadamian nut pancakes which was terrible. Would not recommend this place for breakfast."

  • "We came here for breakfast buffet and for dinner. At the breakfast the egg omelet seemed to be the best offering. As for dinner I was disappointed. Our house salad was missing promised cucumbers. For main, I ordered fish and pasta. Herb crushed fish was delicious however pasta sauce and fish itself were missing salt. Same was with my husband's burger, bland and dry and tasted like kerosene... (Probably from the grill)"

  • "Had a chance to dine here on two occasions for two different meals: once for breakfast and once for dinner. For breakfast, I had the buffet and it was worth every penny. Great tasting items of which I had a chance to eat ALL of them. GO FOR IT! The continental buffet is a bit cheaper and will leave you feeling just as full, but without the eggs benedict! THE CINNAMON BUTTER ALONE is worth going to this place! Different experience at dinner. The food was delicious, but the portions are small. When it said the chicken comes with cous cous, I had assumed it would be more than just a bite but they forgot one of the cous's. Service was adequate at best. Slow night but still waited 10+ mins between ordering and receiving drinks. TASTY FOOD~"

  • "The food choices were weak. Ordered a medium rare steak, but it was medium and not very flavorful. Service was a little slow."

  • "The beet salad and lobster crab cakes were so good!! The vagetables served with the NY steak had a nice, smokey flavor, the steak itself was cooked well. The food was tasty and healthy. The service was friendly, our server had a wonderful, North Shore vibe to him. "

  • "Very average dining experience here. The breakfast buffet is overpriced at about $27 per person. Just very mediocre lineup of food for the price, in comparison to other breakfast buffets I've been to. They gave away our table while we got up to go to the buffet. Annoying. Asked for coffee--took over 20 minutes to receive. Better off ordering from the ala carte menu."

  • "Not many dining options on the North Shore. This one is convenient for people staying at the Turtle Bay Resort. They have a $12 kids' menu and buffets on certain nights. Expect to pay resort prices - i.e., $35 for the buffet. Food is good - but not excellent. The view of the shore line is nice and the staff friendly. Decor could use a refresh and upgrade."

  • "Ahi poke was delish; taro poke was so-so. Vegan Charcueterie board was awesome, would skip harvest salad. Hands down BEST grilled shrimp ever. Beet salad was delish."

  • "Long story short: waiters took too long--waited 30 minutes after our main course was served for silverware. Lamb as specifically requested to be medium--served WELL-DONE!? Price of 155 was highly inflated considering quality, service, and only one dessert for two Valentine's Day meals."

  • "as we arrived we were seated in Nick's section. Awesome guy, very attentive. Unfortunately the kitchen was apparently behind. We were served our soup & salad very timely. That is where it went wrong. All the tables around had to wait up to 45mins to 1 hour for the entree. we received our meal but the table right next to us came in before us but did not get their food way after. fortunately management took care of half their bill. Not sure what happened in the kitchen. Maybe did not expect that the dishes were going to take longer then they anticipated."

  • "I'll Yelp my experience. Summary, service was horrible. Waiter was non-attentive, it took forever to get our food and drinks...2 hours and 45 mins total duration. The food was bland, we ordered a salad and entrée, actually the same dishes. They were not cooked or arranged the same...we thought our dishes were different. Entrée: Pasta overcooked, veggies were raw, fish was bland and not completely cooked through, all swimming in a pool of luke-warm white sauce. Wine Selection? I've seen a better wine selection in a 7-11. Floor managers were non-existent. No QC in the kitchen. Food was late to all tables we were observing. We ended up going to a mini-mart for a bag of chips later."

  • "My Husband and I were in Oahu for our Honeymoon and decided to celebrate Valentines Days a day early at the North Shore Kula Grille. We could not have been more pleased with our dining experience that evening. Our server Redmond knew everything about all the dishes we ate, which really added to the meal experience. We loved hearing about where all the local ingredients came from and how they were used in each dish. All the food from the complimentary corn bread served with honey to the freshly baked apple & pineapple tart was amazing!!! Love the Farm to Table concept!"

  • "North Shore Kula Grille is a beautiful restaurant with great service, but the food is less than desirable. We had the buffet which had a limited salad bar choices, very difficult to eat entrees, and less than delectable desserts. The drinks from the bar were very pricey and small for the amount of money we paid for them. The menu is limited with very few choices and not very good descriptions of the food. I don't think I will be returning to eat here."

  • "We came on Saturday night & there were only a few other diners. Service was excellent. The food was another story. The restaurant says they are supposed to be a sustainable local products menu. Some things were, however some were not The Chicken entree sounded great , but was regular store bought, not organic, etc The last time I came in I had the Kauai Prawns and even though the heads were missing, I know that they were the real deal. This time I was served giant Shrimps like you buy at Costco. Anyway, we will not bother to go again, unless they really serve what they say they serve!"

  • "We were a group of 8 and all from Hawaii. Our server Red was knowledgeable and made great suggestions. My favorite was the taro poke and beet salad. My friends koved the beef ribs which was like a delicious stew. Though not on the menu two of asked for steak and shrimp and Red said "of course." It was ONO (delicious). Everything was fresh and local. We will go back as often as possible. Thanks to Red for making us feel at home and giving good recommendations. By the way, the chile pepper water was so good we suggest they bottle and sell it. It was that good!"

  • "We had a great time at Kula Grille. The bartender was very friendly and made great cocktails. The Lava Rock Rita was a very tasty take on the traditional margarita. The food was well prepared and very tasty. We we surprised by how quiet it was for a 7:30 reservation."

  • "The taro poke, beat salad, mushroom flatbread, braised ribs -- it was like a delicious stew with vegetables and an unbelievable sauce/gravy, were all winners!! We shared the fresh catch opa and the kampachi and I liked both but preferred the kampachi!! Thank you for one of the best meals we've had in a long time!! One last thing, cornbread is provided with a honey butter! You can't eat just one. Our server taught us to add some chili pepper water (homemade and delicious) -- it was a perfect recommendation!!! Our friends from New Orleans loved it!! We will definitely be back!"

  • "Our waiter, Jamie, was amazing! Friendly, fast and professional service! He really made our night special! Me and my boyfriend, Jimmy, were celebrating our 5 year anniversary with a gift card I had received a couple months ago. The food was outstanding! (Except for the oysters...which they kindly took off our bill). I feel the prices were very fair for a resort restaurant. The food had great flavor! Thank you Jamie for making our night out... Memorable! As "locals" we will definitely recommend!"

  • "Kula Grill is the replacement dinner spot for the very terrible Leonardo's. We've been to Turtle Bay many times and this was our first chance to try the new Kula Grill. Their theme is "farm to table" so most of the ingredients are locally grown or caught. The idea is nice but not many options if you don't like seafood. I had the pumpkin linguine. It was good and more filling than I anticipated. The pumpkin had very little flavor and was a bit mushy. My husband had the catch of the day. He said it was good and more filling than he thought it would be too due to the pasta under the fish. The worst part was the reggae/rap versions of 80's elevator music that was much too loud."

  • "Went for breakfast. Since Turtle Bay removed Palm Terrace and put in Kula, I expected to be amazed by the new menu and farm fresh food. Sadly, it's the same. Food was average. I had Fench Toast and my husband had the Pinapple Fosters Waffle. It was better than. The Buffett which had the same, sad, cold food as before. Unfortunately, Kula is really the only option for breakfast at Turtle Bay. Maybe with the renovation they will fix up some of the other restaurants menus to have better breakfasts."

  • "Was excited to try out this new farm-to-table restaurant at Turtle Bay. Food was good, but was way overpriced for the portion size. Drinks were just so-so.The phallic-like image of a hand picking a taro root behind the bar had obviously not been reviewed before being installed."

  • "I was disappointed on a few points. I choose to try this new restaurant thinking I've never been here before. We sat at the same table when we came here about 8 months ago; when it was called Leonardo's (Italian). The prices are much more expensive. The food photo is of their Beet salad ($13) which was okay but very petite. One small red beet & pink beet sliced goat cheese, sprouts, 3" of watermelon diced, w/ dressing. Their ahi poke was about $15, shrimp entree $27, opah entree $29, desert $10+. I tried using the Open Table certificates and the waitress said she never knew anything about it and had to find the manager for approval. It was very embarrassing. She wanted to inspect the certificate and letter prior and warned me that"

  • "It wasn't as nice as I would have liked it to be. It was more of a family diner type of atmosphere. We were hoping it would be more fine dining; Definitely not. Service was good and very "local" friendly. Food was average style but still delicious."

  • "The only reason I return to this restaurant is because my son likes going to the "fancy restaurant" with the fancy mac and cheese. The buffet is not bad - I liked it the first time I came. I've been consistently disappointed eating off of their menu. The salad is great. When you ask about gluten free the waiters stare at you with a blank look on their face (more than one has done this). Really wish they would make an adjustment to their menu and whoever is cooking it."

  • "We were a group of six and ordered widely from the menu. The service was excellent, the view was beautiful, but the food was very average. Nothing special at all. Several members of our party need gluten-free meals, which this restaurant advertises. We made a special note on our reservation requesting gluten-free accommodations, but when we arrived, they seemed flustered. They couldn't find enough g-f pasta and, in the end, we were fed, but my son was still hungry at the end of the meal as his portion was very small. We had the breakfast/brunch the next day, which was good, but pricey. The fresh papaya was delicious!"
